PWInsider.com is sad to pass on news of the passing of Kirk White, who for many years managed Bret Hart's bookings and for over 24 years, promoted the California-based Big Time Wrestling.
White's family, through BTW, announced the following:
"It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband & father Kirk White - founder and promoter of Big Time Wrestling (BTW) in Northern California. Kirk died peacefully in his sleep on Christmas Eve, he was 63.
Our family asks that you keep him in your thoughts & prayers during this incredibly difficult time. On behalf of Kirk, we cannot thank you all enough for the amount of love & support you have given us over the past 25 years.
Love, Laurie & Taylor White
*more details to follow regarding the Jan. 28th show"
In all of my dealings with Kirk over the years, he was always an upfront, honest individual who was extremely helpful when it came to setting up guests for interviews and helping to knock down misinformation as I was chasing stories. It was always a great pleasure to run into him at conventions and events and I am extremely saddened to hear of his passing. He was one of Bret Hart's most trusted confidantes for a reason, because he was a truly great person.
On behalf of everyone at PWInsider.com, I'd like to express our deepest sympathies to Kirk's family and friends.
