ACTION Wrestling “Bangers Only 2: Electric Bangaloo”

12/3/21 - Tyrone, GA

Now Available on IWTV.live VOD

After 6 weeks of rest, ACTION returns to us with the first of their 2 show December, “Bangers Only 2: Electric Bangaloo”. I have high hopes for this card, as it stacks up a LOT of matchups that are recipes for Good Violence™. Dylan Hales & Jumpin’ Johnny Mosely are on the call tonight. Scott Hensley is your announcer. Let’s goooooo!

Match 1: “Number One” Jaden Newman (w/ Carson Dilbeck) vs Ashton Starr

Newman is being a little more aggressive with Dilbeck, forcing him to throw up the number two sign and take direction at ringside. Newman gets a cravat early and holds it strong. Starr works to a stalemate on the mat and Newman just ambushes him from behind…though Ashton prolly shouldn’t have been celebrating so early. Starr rattles Newman with a couple quick pin attempts. Starr tries a baseball slide to a powdered Newman but gets trapped in the ring skirt and Jaden pounds him out. Newman tries a few technical pins but Starr is too awake to get caught there. Newman pulling at the hair and eyes and tries to grind him out. Senton tot the back and Newman works over the ankle. Ashton is able to get out of danger and winds up in a strike battle with Newman. Starr has Newman’s number here and drops him with a dropkick, crossbody splash for two. Newman with a pump kick into straightjacket driver. Starr with an X factor and scissor kick! Carson stops the three count and Starr drops him. Newman uses the space to catch Starr with the hangman’s clutch and that ends this hot opener. Liked this a lot. The crowd loves Ashton and hates Newman so the room was definitely into this one. Newman continues to abuse Dilbeck as they leave the room, showing a newer aggressive side after the comedy fare he’s been doing for the last several months here.

Winner: Jaden Newman

Match 2: Air BnB (Bobby Flaco & Brogan Finlay) vs The Good Hand (Suge D & Kevin Ryan)

Suge enters with a “HE is near” sign. Who is near, Suge? Regardless, great to see the Good Hand making their presence felt in an official match again. Suge has the mic…He’s coming. He tries to bring AirBnB over to his side before HE arrives and let them be saved. Take their good hand and becomes more than your associations, says Suge. Air BnB takes too long to respond and The Good Hand charge in to stomp them out. The bell rings when it gets down to 1on1 and Bobby hits a lucha arm drag to Ryan. Air BnB with some good combos and Ryan kicks out on a senton. Suge dives right into the fray to stop the double teaming…..and start some of his own. Flaco tries a crossbody but Ryan superkicks him out of the air. Good spot. Suge grinds out Flaco and bends him waaaaaaay back. Good Hand goes through multiple tags and tortures Flaco in their corner. Suge beats Flaco with Ref Shiny Shoe’s Santa hat before hitting a snap suplex for two. DVD/Swanton combo for two. Flaco avoids Ryan and gets the tag to Brogan, he comes in hot, brainbuster to Ryan for two. Air Bnb tries a doomsday device but Suge cuts that off. Ryan with a spanish fly off the top to Flaco. Finlay hits with a Finlay roll neckbreaker combo. You don’t beat Brogan with that move! Flaco with a cutter to Suge! Ryan tries to Brogan up but Brogan turns it into his own roll up. Brogan arches back, pulls the tights and they are DEFINITELY on the ropes when the ref counts three. Suge is clapping and laughing at AirBnb’s win. Suge says “I don’t know about Bobby…but that Brogan guy has promise”. So much story happening here as we got a good tag match right up until the controversial finish….but Suge’s not mad? Someone’s coming.

Winners: Air Bnb

Match 3: “The Boozerweight” Matt Sells vs “The Loaded Arm” Adam Priest

Priest is just advertising that surgical plate in his arm now. Matt Sells is out in full Mattlanta Braves and the crowd eats that entrance up. Priest grabs the mic to make sure to rile up the sports fans in the crowd. Sells reminds him that like his favorite team, the Yankees, Priest always comes up short. Sells is definitely eating that arm tonight. In the meantime, Sells batters Priest to the outside and back body drops him to the concrete. Ow. Sells wraps up the head of Priest and humps him in the mat face first about 20 times….and then 20 more. Priest doesn’t pass out at least, so he’s better than Jaden Newman in that regard. Priest barely makes the 10 count as Sells chills out on the ropes. Priest eats some chops and tries to reverse a whip into a ddt but Sells knee gives out…and Priest smells blood in the water. Priest tries a forearm shot, Sells ducks and hits a palm strike for a close two. Sells is limping hard as he goes for a second palm strike. Priest blocks it with the loaded arm and rolls up Sells and stacks it high for the three! Sells came out hot for this one but Priest endured it and took his shot where he could.

Winner: Adam Priest

Match 4: Kevin Ku vs ”Kill or Be Killed” Brett Ison

Brett Ison’s final ACTION appearance before he steps away from wrestling this year is bound to be a war with his brother in the Southeast scene, Kevin Ku. They feel each other out early, Ison tries a spinning back kick and uses the dodge to take Ku to his back. Brett trying to grapevine the legs but Ku stays ahead of that. They break from the stalemate into a trade of LOUD chops. Ison crumbles Ku with some stiff forearms. Ku fires back with dragon screws to BOTH legs. Ku tries a standing figure four but Ison kicks out. OH Ison wants to kick? Ku fires off some hard kicks to the legs and back. Ku tying up the legs tight and double stomps to the back. Ku fires some HARD kicks to the chest but Ison stands right up through it. Ku kicks out the legs of the Pitbull and puts him back on the defensive. Ison firing back with more forearms and chops, winning the trade. Gut kick, Ison tries the spinning back fist but Ku ducks it. Ku with a flying knee! Ison spins him out with a lariat. Boot wash in the corner, kick out! Ku keep kicking at the base of Ison, the big man drops. Ku swarms in and begins dropping a bunch of unprotected elbows to the side of the head. Ison crumbles to the mat as the referee is forced to stop the match. Good fight here. Ku came in with a game plan executed perfectly. The crowd gives Ison a huge “Thank you Brett” as he picks himself up and walks out for what could be the final time.

Winner: Kevin Ku

Match 5: “The ACEGAWD” Arik Royal(c) vs “The Wrestling Genius” Daniel Makabe (w/ Kevin Ku) (for the Action Wresting Championship)

Royal beat Makabe at “Have Fun, Be Sad”. Makabe tied it up at the Scenic City Invitational. Both matches were great. Tonight is the rubber match of the series and this time, it’s for Royal’s ACTION championship. Makabe out hot with a dropkick at the bell and is taking this right to the ACEGAWD. Makabe gets the elbow pad and jacks the arm on the top rope. Makabe twists Royal into an armbar and the Ace has to squirm out. They tangle in a lockup and Royal hits a couple of shoulder blocks, goes for Kobe but Daniel is ready for it. Makabe controls the arm and drags Royal to the mat. Royal comes in and almost eats the wind up fastball punch but Arik blocks it hard. Makabe on the mat and Royal hits a side tackle into a arm lock. Makabe is able to get his own wrist lock in and Royal has to scramble for the ropes. Big corner spear from the champ. Makabe tries the fastball again but Royal ducks and hits a high knee for two. Royal twisting at the neck, Makabe turns it into a butterfly suplex! Trading slaps back and forth, Makabe keeps winding up that fastball and Ace sends him to the floor. Royal comes off the apron, MAKABE HITS THE BIG PUNCH and KO’s the champ o the concrete! Royal barely makes the count back into the ring. Makabe working to the cattle mutilation, settles for a german bridge for two. Daniel stretches the champ but the ACEGAWD counters into his own. They transition through several submission attempts, Royal rolls it up, kick out! Royal off the ropes, KOBE CONNECTS! He takes too long getting the pin and Makabe kicks out. Makabe escapes a powerbomb into the cattle mutilation! Makabe can’t lock the hands and turns it into pin. The champ kicks out! Makabe to the top, Royal catches him up there. Makabe fights off a superplex, kneedrop from the top! Kick out! They trade quick pin attempts until Royal takes out the knee and hits an ACEGAWD’s Curse to put away Makabe. Loved this. This was a fantastic trilogy. The third one lived up to the story they built over the last several months. The crowd was going bananas for this one. Makabe gets a handshake from the champ after calling this match “saving the best for last”. I concur. Royal makes a point to get some words in on Kevin Ku at ringside, who may just be in line to challenge for the belt next?

Winner: Arik Royal

We get a promo from The Reverend ahead of his charge’s match with Angelus Layne later tonight. Tank is here to defend the honor of ACTION CEO Matt Griffin. This is gonna be wild.

Match 6: Landon Hale vs “The Mat Scientist” Damyan Tangra

They grapple for position early. Hale gets a good hit on a shoulder block but Tangra is backup and throwing shots in the pocket. Hale with some flash in a moonsault dodge into a dropkick. He tries another moonsault but eats knees. Tangra with a swinging gut buster for two. Tangra landing some uppercuts, Hale with a blue thunder bomb for two! Hale slingshots into the ring but eats an uppercut. Tangra tries to wrap up Hale but he escapes and hits a high knee. Tangra with a body scissor into a STF. Hale fights it but has to tap! All go, no slow. This was a lot of good fight energy.

Winner: Damyan Tangra

Match 7: Angelus Layne vs Tank (w/ The Reverend)

The Reverend cuts a promo on Angelus about how this match is her reckoning for the year of bullying she’s put Matt Griffin through. This is gonna be Tank Rules and so we have a bunch of plunder coming out now. Angelus is upset and powders immediately, steeling herself before she comes in to face the music. Layne comes in hard and runs into her punches and kicks but Tank clotheslines her and smashes her in the small of the back with a tack bat. He rakes the bat across her forehead as Tyrone Georgia experiences their first match of THIS type. Layne escapes the ring and Tank smashes her with a headbutt and bounces her off the apron. Layne goes low, grabs a a bat covered in gusset plates and goes swinging. She smashes a pair of gussets into his arms, chasing him down to choke him with a crutch. Layne is a bloody mess as she tries to choke the life out of the big man. Angelus dives off the stage but Tank catches her and bombs her into the ringside chairs. She ded. Those tacks from that first tack bat hit are STILL buried in the small of her back. Layne grabs some barbed wire and gives Tank a crown of thorns. Tank wants to throw her through a door but she slips it and spears him through it. Double knee in the corner and she blasts him with the tack bat. They grab broken door parts and smash each other in the head back and forth. Layne is crumbling after several shots. Tank sets up a second door on the bottom rope. A trio of nasty headbutts from Tank but Layne screams and throwing more punches. Tank with a backfist and back suplex through the door and Layne is DONE. This was either your thing or NOT. It was certainly mine. I enjoyed this bit of violence quite a lot. Tank grabs the mic and gives Layne the nod for her toughness and ability to work this style. ACTION has never done a match like this before and it lived up to my hopes.

Winner: Tank

The Skulk is out here for….reasons? They were supposed to be defending against Suplex Science but Alex Kane is out so what is this going to be? Liam Gray is on a scooter….is he not cleared to wrestle? All that being said, The Skulk isn’t going be denied their opportunity to rile up the ACTION crowd for several minutes…which they do long enough that their theme has to be restarted from the top. Alanis grabs the mic to put themselves over as the first and “longest reigning” tag champs in ACTION. They’ve beaten every tag team in ACTION and go through the list. Alanis is feeling generous though…let’s do an open challenge. Liam is even okay with it. Whoever it is gonna be has ten seconds to answer the challenge as they ring the bell. “Zombie” kicks off….IT’S VIOLENCE IS FOREVER!!! We saw Ku earlier but Garrini has been a rare sight lately and it’s awesome to see him back here!

Match 8: The Skulk(c) (Adrian Alanis & Liam Gray) vs Violence is Forever (Kevin Ku & Dominic Garrini) (for the ACTION tag team championship)

Alanis swarms them and drops ViF in their corner. Alanis tells Liam to wait on the floor and stretch out. He’s got this. Liam to the floor. Ku comes in with a larait. Garrini does too. Stereo elbows to the head. Liam tries to get in the ring, Ku shoves him back to the floor. ViF hits Chasing the Dragon! One. Two. Three! Just. Like. That. Less a match and more of a moment. This crowd has been terrorized by The Skulk and their prolonged entrance for months. This was a just dessert for them.

Winners (and New Champs): Violence is Forever

Main Event: Anthony Henry vs “The Mack of All Trades” AC Mack

Mack is here to remind us that he should be the #1 contender to the IWTV championship. Anthony Henry though? He has a date with Alex Shelley on New Year’s eve and that infuriates Mack. They spin through the lockup, makes a point to taunt each other. Gut kick from Henry. Back elbow from Mack sends Henry to the floor and destroys a Mack poster he finds in the chairs. Henry tries to bait Mack to the floor but Mack tells him to get in the ring and wrestle. Henry gives Mack his wish, out grappling him until Mack turns up the heat with some slick combos and a dropkick for two. Henry blocks a Mack 10 into a double stomp. Mack rolls out, Henry gives chase. Mack getting chopped, kicked and sent into the post. Running leg lariat into the chairs!  Neck twist on the apron. Mack getting punished now as Henry is in full predator mode. Twist the digits and stomp the whole shoulder out. The crowd is getting firmly behind Mack as Henry keeps the torture going. Back drop to the apron. Clinical kicks to the back. Mack turns the tide with a rollup. Kick out the legs! High angle ddt to Henry! Mack with an enziguri, leg lariat and suicide dive to the outside. A second dive sends Henry into the chairs. Mack with a flying kick to the corner for two. Henry blocks the Mack 10.Mack with a meteora! Henry rolls it into a crab and a STF! Mack makes the rope, dodges a double stomp  and drives Henry’s face to the mat for two. Mack tries another meteroa but falls into a sleeper. Henry trying a Gotch piledriver…Mack with a cradle pin for two! Cradle suplex from Henry! He tries. The piledriver again, Mack with a jackknife pin for two. Henry finally hits the Gotch piledriver but Mack kicks out! Mack with the meteroa! He goes for Mack 10, Henry rolls it up. Mack reverses the pin and holds the legs. He gets it! Great back and forth fast paced fight here! Henry is furious at his first clean loss in ACTION in a long while.

Winner: AC Mack

Dylan Hales hits the ring to put over Henry as a great competitor but he’s here as an emissary of IWTV and he confirms that as the bell rings on Alex Shelly vs John Wayne Murdoch at Expect the Unexpected….AC Mack is the number one contender for the IWTV title. Mack loves this but he doesn’t want the rug pulled out. So BOOK IT. Hales brings out Matt Griffin to announce on Jan 21st, in Tyrone, there will be a Southeast Wrestling super show called “Southeast First” and on it….AC Mack will get his shot against the champ whoever that maybe. Anthony Henry grabs the mic and promises Mack he will be the champ then and he will get the job done THAT night. Finally, Mack gets his chance!

And that’s it for “Bangers Only 2: Electric Bangaloo”! Great show, y’all. Lots of story beats, awesome action. A little of everything here tonight from deathmatch to technical excellence to big fight feels to big pop moments. I’m usually pretty much on the side of whatever ACTION puts down but this show was a top tier offering in their catalog that I would put right up next to “Have Fun, Be Sad” as a promotional introduction. I’m VERY much looking forward to their super show with SUP in Worcester next week at The Wrestival! Bobby Flaco vs Rip Byson! Jaden Newman vs Avery Good! Peteyoungblood vs Austin Luke! Ashton Starr vs Davienne! Adam Priest vs Alec Price! AC Mack vs SLADE! Violence is Forever vs Hot Wheelz! Does Anthony Henry take the IWTV belt from Alex Shelley? Until then!
