12/21/21 Results for New Japan’s Road to Tokyo Dome at Korakuen Hall, Tokyo Japan:
The show opened with a video highlight package of all the major title changes and storylines in New Japan in 2021.
Yuto Nakashima and Yuji Nagata vs. Chase Owens and Bad Luck Fale.
Owens pinned Nakashima after hitting a V-Trigger.
This may have been Nakashima’s first match against Bullet Club. The Rogue General and the Crown Jewel got their stiff shots in.
Kosei Fujita and Toru Yano vs. DOUKI and Yoshinobu Kanemaru
Kanemaru attacked Yano at the bell and poured his Suntori Whiskey all over Yano’s head. Yano got a green bottle of water and poured it on Kanemaru. Lots of shenanigans in this match.
DOUKI trapped Fujita in the Italian Stretch No.32 and Fujita submitted.
On 12/24/21, Kanemaru will face Yano for the KOPW Provisional Trophy.
Ryohei Oiwa, YOH and Tomohiro Ishii vs. Yujiro Takahashi, SHO and EVIL, with Dick Togo
Crazy match. With House of Torture, there are fights everywhere.
EVIL blasts Oiwa in the face with the NEVER Openweight title belt. Yujiro pins Oiwa. YOH took a beating from SHO on the outside of the ring.
Tiger Mask, YOSHI-HASHI and Hirooki Goto vs. TAKA Michinoku, Zack Sabre Jr. and Taichi
YOSHI-HASHI pinned TAKA after they hit Shoto.
Both team exchanged words after the match. Dangerous Tekkers vs. CHAOS for the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Titles looks to be a good match.
Master Wato, Ryusuke Taguchi and Hiroshian Tanahashi vs. El Phantasmo, Taiji Ishimori and Gedo
Lots of comedy in this match, especially between Taguchi and ELP. Taguchi wrestled half the match with tights pulled down. Silly.
Tanahashi forces Gedo to tap to the Texas Cloverhold.
BUSHI, SANADA and Tetsuya Naito vs. Aaron Henare, Great O-Khan and Jeff Cobb
Naito takes his time getting to the ring, and playing mind games with United Empire.
United Empire were not playing games and they used their power to beat LIJ all over ring. LIJ used their quickness to fight back.
BUSHI tried to hit an aerial spot but O-Khan caught him and hit an Eliminator.
Great O-Khan pins BUSHI.
Solid match. As a team, United Empire is fun to watch. They will brutalize their opponents with awesome power moves. Pair them against Los Ingobernales de Japon, then it will be a great match. United Empire will only get better as they continue to wrestle with LIJ.
Naito and Cobb will be fun to watch as they build to their showdown at Wrestle Kingdom.
Hiromu Takahashi and Shingo Takagi vs. Robbie Eagles and Kazuchika Okada
Takagi pins Eagles with Last of the Dragon.
Takagi and Okada both look great and ready for Wrestle Kingdom. I pray that all wrestlers stay safe and healthy as New Japan heads towards their biggest event of the year.
Takagi takes the mic and addresses facing Will Ospreay on Night 2.
He should not take Okada lightly on Night 1. He can worry about Ospreay later.
