AEW RAMPAGE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2021-12-18 00:13:00

It is Friday, and it's time for AEW Rampage, taped Wednesday night at the Curtis Cullwell Center in Garland Texas. Our commentary team is Excalibur, Taz, and Ricky Starks

Tonight is TWO big multi-man matches so look forward to a lot of bullet point, especially since one of them is a Young Bucks match.

The Young Bucks, Adam Cole, and Bobby Fish vs Orange Cassidy, Trent Baretta, Chuck Taylor and Rocky Romero.

  • Chuck starts off with Matt who pe[ppers him with blows.

  • Check misses a moonsault but hits sliced bread

  • Rocky is tagged in and Bobby joins him and Riocky takes him down with a drop kick.

  • Cassidy tags in and Rocky does a series of forever clotheslines as Cassidy walks over to get one.

  • Cole tags in and there is a lull in the action as they size each other up.

  • Nick tags in and goes after Cassidy with kicks, he walks the ropes and keeps wreist control until Cassidy walks the rope as well.

  • They run the ropes until Cassidy hits and arm drag and a monkey flip, which bring everyone into the ring

  • They brawl on the floor as Cassidy lays in the ring

  • Trent is tossed into the apron by the Super Kliq

  • The Bucks and Cole give Cassidy a three way super kick as we go to picture in picture

  • When we return to full screen, Cassidy has been beat down through the break and the Bucks hit the double splash.

  • They then try to go for the kiss while Ciole is holding Cassidy but the Bust Friends pull them out of the ring.

  • Cassidy fights his way free, but the Buck pull the Best Friends off the apron.

  • Cassidy counters the Panama Sunrise, and Trent is tagged in.

  • Trent cleans house.

  • Trent hits a diving splash on the back of Nick for a two count.

  • Trent and Rocky hit Nick with a rising knee strike. Rippongi Vice reunites.

  • Cole takes the Sole Food and Chuck leaps over the top to the Bucks on the floor.

  • Trent is pulled off the top and gets hit with a superkick, brainbuster, and a diving Fish and is covered for a two count. (really??)

  • Fish hits an avalanche falcon arrow and Cassidy breaks up the pin at two.

  • Rocky gets a flurry of offence.

  • Cassidy hits an Orange Punch of Matt and dives onto everyone on the outside

  • Trent hits the strong zero on Bobby and covers for the three

Your winners: Chuck Taylor, Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta, and Rocky Romero

Looks like the mini-van is safe tonight. Super spot fest that was lots of action but no story. I should start calling these cotton candy matches because they are fun, but have no substance at all. And Trent gets the win as the returning hero.

It's now time for Dan Lambert's return. He's out with Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page, the Men of the Year. He says that he is making sure that his guys don't get screwed out of what thy deserve by Tony Khan. He then runs down Khan. He says Khan is giving title shots to his friends and turning the company into WCW. He then starts running down Cody Rhodes, which if you are going to make Cody a babyface, having Lambert go after him is a good shot at doing it.

It's time for Cody's Elaborate Entrance!

Cody isn't in a suit either, he's in a black muscle shirt and workout pants. Cody enters the ring to his own series of boos. He grabs the mic from Lambert and Lambert grabs it back. Cody grabs it again and after a pause, they keep this up a few more times. The en fo the year start beating down Cody. Dustin comes to the ring to even the odds, but eventually, they are able to get the advantage on him.

Sammy Guevara comes to the ring and takes out the Men of the Year with a HIGH springboard cutter, driving them off.

Sammy holds his title belt high.

We get a video package of the matches left in the TBS title tournament.

Tay Conti vs Penelope Ford in a submission match

Tay is the only one who gets an intro and she goes right after ford. Tay goes for a single leg crab, but Ford drags her to the ropes where Bunny grabs her hand to put it on the rope. Tay and Ford brawl outside the ring and Tay punches the ring post. They get back in the ring and Tay locks on another submission hold and Ford drags them to the ropes. Tay locks in a triangle choke with her legs, but Ford breaks free and puts on a bow and arrow stretch. Tay fights out and locks on a submission by locking Ford's shoulders with her legs.

Bunny distracts the ref, and the hold is broken and they go to the top. Ford is able to grab aold for a backpack sleeper. She is dropped to the mat and hits a series of back breakers and then holds Tay in the back breaker position. Tay is able to break with knee strikes. Ford puts on a reverse cravat, and Tay makes it to the ropes.

Ford kicks Tay in the head as Tay is on her knees. Tay is up, hits a pump kick, and they trade strikes. Ford for a Casadora, but Tay drops down, locking in a headlock choke from behind, and Ford has to tap out.

Your winner: Tay Conti

Bunny comes in and nails Tay with the brass knuckles and Anna Jay runs her off and Tay is knocked out.

We get the announcement of the Owen Hart tornament, and then a rundown of the cards for next week's shows.

We get the interview segment between the two huge groups. Eddie stops the interview and says he wants to just beat them up. There's been enough talk, it's time for the Main Event

Daniel Garcia, 2.0, and the Acclaimed vs Eddie Kingston, The Lucha Brothers, Santana and Ortiz.

Less than 15 minutes for this match, so I expect fast paced spot fest with extra shenanigans. Tony Khan has said that Rampage is the Wrestling show, but tonight has been lots of acrobatics at high speed.

  • Max's rap is interrupted as everyone starts brawling as the heels come to the ring

  • “Bodies everywhere, y'all” - Ricky Starks

  • Two minutes into the brawl before the bell rings.

  • Penta's in with Max. They go face to face

  • They trade blows in the middle of the ring, it does not go well for Max

  • Rey tags in and keeps it up and they do the assisted slam for a two count on Max

  • Santana and Ortiz tag in and Max keep taking a beating as we go picture in picture

  • When they return to full screen, Ortiz has been taking a beating and the match has broken down again

  • Santana tags in Penta who cleans house

  • Rey is tagged in and he does a lot of fast paced kicks and attacks on 2.0

  • Rey hits a tornado splash on Garcia for a two count

  • Eddie is finally tagged in and he goes after Garcia

  • 2.0 drags Eddie out of the ring to attack.

  • Bowens gets a short chance to shine

  • Eddie attacks Garcia, but Garcia is able to roll him up, holds the tights and gets the three count.

Your winners: Garcia, 2.0, and the Acclaimed

Bowens nails Eddie Kingston with a boom box as the Jurassic Express comes to the ring for the save with Christian Cage from the crowd. After they clean house, Jungle Boy has the tag team title. He and Penta face off and he slowly hands the belt to Penta and The Lucha Brothers and Jurassic Express have a stare down as we are desperately out of time!
