JEFF HARDY RELEASED BY WWE

By Mike Johnson on 2021-12-09 10:59:00

Update 1:13 PM EST - WWE sources have confirmed Jeff Hardy was removed from the company's talent roster this afternoon, so the reports of his release are 100% accurate.

The New York Post, citing Fightful.com, is reporting Jeff Hardy has been released by WWE.    PWInsider.com has not independently confirmed the release.

WWE has not yet made an official statement on Hardy's status, but the Post story states that Hardy, who was removed from the road last weekend, turned down the opportunity to enter rehab.

As PWInsider.com broke this past Sunday, Hardy was sent home following a live event in Edinburg, Texas where he teamed with Xavier Woods and Drew McIntye against The Bloodline.  Hardy spent most of the match inside the ring, being worked over by Roman Reigns and The Usos and apparently becoming more sluggish as the match continues.    Once he made a hot tag to McIntyre, Hardy disappeared into the crowd (followed by security) and didn't return to the ring for the post-match celebration with his partners.

Hardy was replaced the next night in Corpus Christi by Rey Mysterio.  He was not backstage at the event.

Hardy last wrestled on Smackdown TV on 11/26, teaming with Drew McIntyre to defeat Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss.  He was scheduled to wrestle Corbin on tomorrow's Smackdown broadcast from Los Angeles.

PWInsider.com reached out to WWE for comment earlier this week, but did not hear back.
