11/30 NJPW WORLD TAG LEAGUE REPORT FROM TOKYO, JAPAN

By James Kurokawa  on 2021-11-30 15:55:00

On Monday 11-29-21, Japan announced that it would shut down its borders to foreign visitors for one month to avoid the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.  It is a temporary measure as the country is taking safety precautions seriously to make sure they learn all they can about this variant.  This shutdown may affect the card for Wrestle Kingdom.  Hopefully, this will not negatively affect the foreign wrestlers who are competing in BOSJ 28 and WTL 2021.  We shall see how this develops and affects the future plans for New Japan.

11-30-21 Results from New Japan's World Tag League 2021 From Korakuen Hall, Tokyo Japan:

1. Yuto Nakashima vs. Ryohei Oiwa

Both men wrestled to a draw.

World Tag League 2021 Matches:

2.  TAKA Michinoku and Minoru Suzuki vs. Chase Owens and Bad Luck Fale

Owens pins TAKA with a Package Piledriver.

Bullet Club earns 2 points and is, currently, in tie for second place.

Solid opening match.  Both teams beat the hell out of each other.

3. Tiger Mask and Yuji Nagata vs. Yujiro Takahashi and EVIL, with Dick Togo

EVIL distracted the referee, while Yujiro hit a low blow on Tiger Mask.  Yujiro follows up with Big Juice.

Yujiro pins Tiger Mask.

4. Tomoaki Honma and Togi Makabe vs. Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI

YOSHI-HASHI pins Honma after he and Goto hit a Shoto.

5.  Satoshi Kojima and Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa, with Jado

Tanga Loa forces Tenzan to tap out to Operation Jado Killer.

6.  Toru Yano and Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Zack Sabre Jr. and Taichi

Yano had his tricks ready in this match.  Yano tied ZSJ and Taichi to a steel frame in the entryway.   Yano and Tanahashi ran back to the ring to wait for the countout.  Yoshinobu Kanemaru appeared and helped to cut his teammates free.  Yano and Tanahashi left the ring, which broke the count at 16, to chase down Kanemaru, but he had already cut his partners loose.  ZSJ and Taichi attacked Yano and Tanahashi, then tied their legs together.  They struggled to do a 3 legged race back to the ring.   But Yano fell as they got to the guardrail.

Dangerous Tekkers win by count out.

Good win for Tekkers here.  It would have been bad for the Tag Team Champions to lose by count out to Yano and Tanahashi and have to defend their belts to them.

7.  Tetsuya Naito and SANADA vs. Aaron Henare and Great O-Khan

SANADA went for an O'Connor Roll on O'Khan.  O'Khan blocked it and applied a claw hold.  O'Khan hit an Eliminator on SANADA.

O'Khan pins SANADA.

After the match, United Empire hits the Imperial Drop on SANADA and toss him from the ring.   Shingo Takagi comes to help his fallen teammates.

Good match.   Big win for United Empire and the first tournament loss for LIJ.  They earn 2 points and tied for second place with 8 points.  They also help Dangerous Tekkers by keeping LIJ at 10 points.

Current Standings for WTL 2021:

Dangerous Tekkers - 10

Suzuki /Michinoku  - 0

Kojima /Tenzan  - 4

Tiger Mask/Nagata  - 2

Honma/Makabe - 0
