NEW JAPAN CLARIFIES IF MAJOR STARS WILL BE ABLE TO ENTER COUNTRY FOR WRESTLE KINGDOM AND MORE FROM JAPAN

By Oliver Taylor on 2021-11-30 09:59:00

New Japan Pro Wrestling

New Japan Pro Wrestling president Takami Ohbari has confirmed Will Ospreay will still be able to travel to Japan to compete on the second night of Wrestle Kingdom 16 on January 5, 2022, amid tightened international travel restrictions.

Ospreay is set to challenge for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at the show, one day after Shingo Takagi attempts his fourth defense of the title against Kazuchika Okada on the first night of Wrestle Kingdom 16.

Ohbari said wrestlers who have visas to work in Japan will still be able to re-enter the country, and he had confirmed the situation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Presumably, this should mean the likes of Jeff Cobb and KENTA (who figure to have major matches at Wrestle Kingdom 16) should not face any issues.

New Japan held its seventh World Tag League show today in Korakuen Hall.

• Ryohei Oiwa vs. Yuto Nakashima – Time Limit Draw (10 minutes)
