The matches from the Nagano event of BOSJ are now on New Japan World, however, there is no commentary. Updated standings will include the results from 11-18 and 11-21 later in this report.
From Aichi, Japan:
The arena looks to be full. There are empty chairs for social distancing but, in general, this is a big crowd.
1 - Yuto Nakashima vs. Ryohei Oiwa
Both men fight to a draw.
Best of Super Jr 28 Matches:
2. DOUKI vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru
Kanemaru and DOUKI argue with the referee about DOUKI’s metal pipe he brings to the ring. DOUKI attacks Kanemaru and both Suzuki-Gun members beat the crap out of each other. Both men, as teammates, knew each other well so they could counter each other’s finishers easily.
Kanemaru hit two big brainbusters on DOUKI.
Kanemaru pins DOUKI.
3. Master Wato vs. Taiji Ishimori
Ishimori attacks Wato’s left arm to set up the Bone Lock. Wato fights back with his aerial tactics and swift kicks. Ishimori goes for a Bloody Cross. Wato reverses out and attempts a small package. Close two count. Ishiimori jumps up and takes down Wato in a spinning headscissors then traps him in a Bone Lock.
Wato taps out.
Good match. Wato continues to improve in the ring. He is not the same mistakes he did a year ago. There was a hesitation when hitting his moves, but that now seems to be gone.
4. Ryusuke Taguchi vs. YOH
Taguchi began with his comedy at first but it built toward a competitive finish.
Taguchi pins YOH after hitting a Dodon.
I do not understand what YOH did behind the scenes, but it is another loss. He and his former tag partner are heading in opposite directions.
5. BUSHI vs. SHO
SHO attempted to snap the fingers of BUSHI and worked over his left arm. BUSHI fought back on the floor and bounced SHO off the guardrails. SHO used the referee to block BUSHI’s attacks and kept going after his left arm. SHO goes for the Snake Bite but BUSHI gets to the ropes. BUSHI fights back and goes for an MX. SHO pulls the referee in the way and BUSHI sends the referee flying across the ring. SHO hits BUSHI with a low blow. SHO grabs his wrench and hits BUSHI in the face. SHO revives the referee and applies the Snake Bite.
Referee checks on BUSHI who is knocked out and stops the match. SHO is the winner.
SHO defeated Ryusuke Taguchi in the same way at the last event. SHO’s mannerisms and behaviors have changed as he is adopting this “Murder Machine” character, which is cool to watch, similar to a method actor who disappears into the character he plays.
SHO remains undefeated, which is fine as long as SHO does it on his own. He does not need House of Torture interfering in his matches.
6. Robbie Eagles vs. El Phantasmo
High flying hard hitting match. A lot to recap here. Eagles hit a wicked tope con hilo into the face of ELP, who then hit the back of his head on the guardrail. Ouch! Eagles went for a 450 splash but ELP kicked the referee into the ropes which caused Eagles to be crotched on the top rope. ELP hits a Super Frankensteiner and Thunderkiss 86. Eagles kicks out at two. ELP goes for the CR2 but Eagles reverses him into a cradle pin.
Eagles pins ELP.
Another good entertaining match.
7. Hiromu Takahashi vs. El Desperado
They attack each other at the bell. They go to the floor and Hiromu throws Desperado against the guardrail. Hiromu hit a drive by drop kick to the face. Desperado fights back, smashing Hiromu on the guardrail. Back in the ring, Desperado hits a leg breaker and a Dragon screw. Desperado applies a half crab. Hiromu gets the rope break. Desperado drags Hiromu out of the ring and to the entryway. Hiromu gets slammed on the ramp and Desperado breaks a chair over his leg. Hiromu crawls his way back to the ring. They battle in the ring but the match goes back to the floor. Hiromu is thrown against the guardrail. Desperado runs full speed and hits a tope con hilo on Hiromu. Desperado flies so far that he hits Hiromu and the guardrail. It looks like Desperado’s body bends over the rail. Insane bump. Hiromu almost gets counted out. Desperado tries to follow but cannot pin Hiromu. Hiromu traps Desperado in a triangle choke. Desperado tries to power out of the submission. He lifts Hiromu in a power bomb but Hiromu takes him out of the ring. Hiromu follows with a sunset flip power bomb on the floor. Brutal! Back in the ring, Desperado traps Hiromu in Numero Dos. Hiromu gets to the ropes. Both men attempt their finishers. They reverse out. Desperado tries for El Es Culero but the time keeper rings the bell.
The match is a time limit draw.
After the match, both men scream at each other. Hiromu limps back to the locker room.
Each wrestler earns 1 point for the tie.
This was smart booking. Hiromu and Desperado are arguably the top two wrestlers in the Jr. Division. If Hiromu won, there would be a long line of challengers for Desperado’s title, since he has lost to SHO and Ishimori. If Desperado won, it would hurt Hiromu and his chances to return to Wrestle Kingdom and challenge for the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship. Each man gets a point, but each will have to win their remaining matches to keep pace with SHO, Ishimori and Kanemaru.
