New Japan Pro Wrestling
New Japan Pro Wrestling and Pro Wrestling NOAH held a joint press conference today to announce the third night of New Japan’s Wrestle Kingdom 16 show on January 8, 2022, will see the two companies compete in a special event support Japan’s Red Cross Association.
The companies have collaborated various times since NOAH’s founding in 2000, though the most recent working relationship unceremoniously ended at the end of 2016 on an extremely sour note.
NOAH’s Kaito Kiyomiya re-affirmed his desire to face Kazuchika Okada at the press conference. Kiyomiya first challenged Okada after NOAH’s first NEW HOPE show on May 24, 2020, perhaps hinting at how long plans have been in place for New Japan and NOAH to hold a joint show.
New Japan’s Hiroshi Tanahashi named Keiji Mutoh and Naomichi Marufuji when asked who he would like to take on, though New Japan president Takami Ohbari clarified that the card is not set.
New Japan will hold its fourth Best of the Super Juniors show tomorrow in Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium.
