It's Friday, and we have a taped Rampage from the Chartway Arena in Norfolk Virginia, taped after Dynamite was done. Our commentary team is Taz, Excalibur, Chris Jericho and Ricky Starks.
Darby Allin w/Sting vs Billy Gunn w/The Gunn Club
Billy Gunn's physique is amazing for a man in the late 50's, and his body looks as good as it did in the Attitude era. I swear there must be a painting of him looking old and beat down in his attic. His sons have been getting into it with Danhousen on Twitter, it's really entertaining, so I recommend you check it out. Gives them some personality that we don't see on TV.
Gunn towers over Darby and outweighs him by 60 to 70 pounds so we are back to Darby being the massive underdog. We start with Gunn putting Darby up on the top turnbuckle and then patting him and backing off as if to say “OK, kid, I'm gonna play fair with you” despite turning heel a while back. They lock up and Gunn spins him around in the collar and elbow tie up and drops him on the mat.
Gunn then challenges him to a Greco Roman Knuckle Lock and Darby kicks him instead and after a few kicks, Gunn tosses Darby in the air HIGH on the back body drop. They go the ramp and Darby gets picked up and tossed back down and under the ring. Darby is tossed into the ring and Sting goes face to face with Gunn and the stare at each other. Gunn goes into the ring and goes to work slowly. He then leaves the ring and stares at Sting as he yanks Darby from the ring to the floor. Gunn tosses him in the ring. Darby gets a kick in and goes for a dive, but Gunn steps aside as we go picture in picture.
When they return to full screen, Darby is on the mat in front of Gun who takes him to the top and goes to the top with him. Darby punches and bites Gunn and when Gunn drops to the mat, Darby leaps on the Gunn Club on the outside. He rolls in and Gun picks Darby up and spins him around and tosses him to the corner. As Gunn is taunting Sting, Darby hits a stunner, a Hurricanrana, and finishes with a coffin drop.
Darby tries to cover and Gunn tosses him off. Darby hits a second coffin drop and is able to cover Gunn and get the three count.
Your winner: Darby Allin
The Gunn Club goes after Sting and then rush the ring to attack Darby. Sting comes in to clean house, but Gunn is able to hit a chop block on Sting. Gunn keeps Sting down with strikes to the head. Billy and the Gunn Club are standing tall as we get a recap of CM Punk and MJF on Dynamite.
Tony Schiavone is with QT Marshall who says that at Dynamite, he will beat up CM Punk in his home town.
You get a video package of Jericho talking about how he will beat up Dan Lambert any time. We then get a promo from the Men of the Year saying that beating up Dan Lambert was a punk move and it's not the last we have seen of America's Top Team.
Jade Cargill w/Smart Mark Sterling vs Red Velvet in the TBS Tournament
They start by throwing hands in the middle of the ring. Jade starts tossing Red around the ring, and Red goes for strikes. Jade tries for a power slam and Red escapes out the back and then hits a couple of kick. Jade catches Red in mid leap and then tosses her over of head.
Jade then stomps Red into the mat and slams her again. Red escapes another slam and then gets a kick in. Red tries to leap onto Jade, and Jade strikes her again mid leap and then choke slams Red into the apron.
After commercial, Jade is beating down Red in the corner and then tosses her around the ring and does push ups. Red gets a boot up to kick Jade in the face as she runs at Red. This is the start of the comeback. Red and then gets a series of kicks and strikes. Jade ends it with a pump kick. Jade then holds Red so that Mark can yell at her about the Cake Incident from last week.
Jade goes for a Jaded and Red gets a backslide and a two count. Red hits a spear and a two count. Red goes for the Final Slice, but Jade dodges and finally hits Jaded, covering for a three count.
Your winner and going on the in the TBS Tournament: Jade Cargill
This was an OK match, despite the huge size difference between the two. It made Jade look like a legit monster and Red seemed like the scrappy underdog. Show Flow wise, it was two similar matches back to back, and as such, it causes comparison, and Darby and Billy Gunn have the experience edge by far. It seemed odd to see similar matches back to back, and it showed how green Jade and Red are.
In the back, Thunder Rosa gives a promo about how she has beat stooge #1 with Reba and now will beat Stooge #2, Jamie Hayter.
We get a rundown of next week's Dynamite card.
Tony Schiavone asks CM Punk about QT Marshall. He says to bring all of his team and a hefty appetite because he's bitten off more than he can chew. I notice that the interviews on Rampage don't get interrupted, so if Eddie Kingston wants to get through a promo without being interrupted, he should be on Rampage. We then get a video recap of the confrontation between Adam Page and Bryan Danielson. Such a great confrontation.
They also have some information on the Rampage next week. The report next week for Rampage will be late, since that's the day I get together with friends for the holidays. Yes, there will be a podcast out of it, but because of that, Rampage will get reported when I get home. It's taped, so if you desperately need to the know the results, Mike Johnson will have them within minutes after the taping is done on Wednesday.
We have another Winter is Coming show. Last year, that was the show Sting showed up as, so who knows what they will do that night.
We get the main event promos between Adam Cole and Bobby Fish and Jurassic Express. They recap the feud so far and Jungle Boy gives another good promo. Nice to see and he's improved a lot over the last few months.

Fish taps out!
Your winners: Jurassic Express
This is the type of match Jurassic Express does, but it was a step up with Cole and Fish being so crisp with their moves and making everything looks smooth. Not a blow away match, but well executed, and I like that Cole keeps leaving Fish to get beat up.
