3 NAMES WE COULD SEE IN WWE IN 2022

By Kendall Jenkins on 2021-11-18 11:44:00

We are not far away from WrestleMania season in the WWE so plans will already be in place with the brand to make next year’s flagship event as special as possible.

In recent years we have seen the likes of Rob Gronkowski and Bad Bunny both used to help promote the pay-per-view event outside of wrestling fans. It will be interesting to see who they turn to in 2022. Here are some names they are likely to consider.

Jake Paul

Early this year internet personality Logan Paul featured in the WWE in a storyline which saw him feud with Kevin Owens. In 2022 it may be his brother Jake Paul trying his hand at wrestling.

Paul is very accomplished in the boxing ring. He is unbeaten in four professional fights in the sport. He is set for his biggest challenge yet when he takes on Tommy Fury next month. He is the underdog at 133/100 with Marathonbet UK for that bout.

With over 20 million YouTube subscribers, Paul has a massive audience which the WWE would love to appeal to. Given he is already comfortable fighting, he would not need too much training in order to prepare for a match at WrestleMania. A lot may depend on how well he performs against Fury next month with regards to his availability for early 2022.

Daddy Yankee

WWE turned to one of the biggest Latin music stars in the world earlier this year in Bad Bunny. That may be a strategy they try again and this time it may be with Daddy Yankee. After selling over 20 million records, he is one of the biggest selling Latin artists of all time.

Yankee could either be signed up to play live at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, be involved as a host, like Gronkowski in 2020, or even feature in the ring, if he is comfortable with that.

It has been reported that Yankee was a former competitive boxer in his homeland of Puerto Rico before picking up an injury which forced him to retire. It has not been a bad switch in careers for the King of Reggaeton.

Tyson Fury

World champion Tyson Fury is a huge fan of the WWE. He said it was a dream come true when he competed at Crown Jewel in 2019, defeating Braun Strowman on this WWE debut.

Fury is a huge personality in and outside of the ring in boxing, so it was no surprise that he was a complete natural with the mic in his hand during his brief spell in the WWE two years ago.

The British boxer has left the door open for a return to the brand. He has had social media exchanges with a number of wrestlers, including Scotland’s Drew McIntyre. Obviously, boxing is his priority at the moment, but if he able to take a break from his schedule, being involved in WrestleMania would be fantastic for both parties.

WrestleMania 38 is scheduled for the 3rd April next year. Keep an eye out on PWInsider for all the latest news ahead of that event.
