I have seen "The Accountant" once. I've seen its conclusion 25 times. Luckily, It's Wednesday Night, and you know what that means! It means we're entering Dynamite #1 of the Hangman Page era. Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and Excalibur have the call of the action tonight. We get nice quick video rundown of the highlights of All Out. We're in Virginia, home of the World Champion.
The Super Elite has some pre-recorded comments. Kenny seems despondent as the admits he lost fair and square. Omega says there are things that need fixing and he can't fix them here. He asks if they got this and Adam Cole steps up as leader. Omega says he was talking to the Bucks and walks off. Things seem very downtrodden for the Super Elite. Nice little way to explain Omega's impending absence.
Dark Order is in the ring and John Silver introduces AEW World Champion Adam Hangman Page. He cuts the crowd's "you deserve it" chant because he says he hadn't earned it. They respond with a "you earned it" chant. He asks the crowd in they mind celebrating National Cowboy $h!t Day with him. They're very happy to. He wastes no time invoking the name of his #1 contender, Bryan Danielson. Danielson comes out and the crowd is unglued. This already has a big fight feel to it. Danielson congratulates him and shakes his hand. Danielson admits he was surprised that Omega didn't retain Saturday night. Page reminds Danielson that he beat Omega in under 30 minutes. Danielson reminds us that he wrestled the very next night after WrestleMania XXX. Virginia boos him and Danielson says he's not surprised that Virginia boos hard work. Danielson said he'd love to do it tonight but doesn't want an unprepared Page having excuses. Dark Order have to step in and separate the 2.
The crowd wants them to fight. Page fights through his barricade and attacks Danielson, who scurries to the floor. Conveniently, we are ready for our first match.
Bryan Danielson vs. Evil Uno
Lockup, single leg sweep by Danielson into a half crab. Uno makes the ropes. Test of strength, Danielson with an arm twist into a headlock. They trade shoulderblocks. Reverse atomic drop into a Magistral for 2 by Uno. Danielson slaps the taste out of Uno's mouth and lays in kicks and chops in the corner. Suplex by Danielson. Uppercut by Danielson and he mercilessly kicks Uno in the corner. Uno wants a chop but Danielson pie faces him. Uno with a slap and he rains the strikes in the corner.Step up hurancanrana by Uno. Danielson goes for a kick but Uno catches him and applies a neckbreaker for 2.
Boot to the face by Uno but a hard strike takes Uno down. Series of plamstrikes. Danielson with 2 dropkicks in the corner. Attempt 3 and Uno hits a running kick. Danielson gets his knees up for a senton. Running knee by Danielson and he pounds Uno's head with stomps and applies a triangle choke. Uno immediately taps out.
WINNER: Bryan Danielson
Tony Schiavone hits the ring to talk to the number one contender. Danielson blames Page for what just happened to Evil Uno. Every single member of Dark Order is a target for him until he gets his shot. Next week, it's Colt Cabana's turn.
After his match at Full Gear. He basks in Darby Allin's shame. He's sick of every other AEW getting called great wrestlers. He's tired of being told by the fans that he's only good at talking. He reminds everyone he beat Darby with a headlock takeover.
We see highlights from Eddie Kingston vs. CM Punk. Tony is backstage with Eddie when 2.0 and Daniel Garcia make fun of him for losing. Kingston gets in Garcia's face and 2.0 pull him away.
Butcher and Blade w/Matt Hardy and The Bunny vs. Orange Cassidy and Tomohiro Ishii w/Rocky Romero
Ishii and Butcher will kick us off but Blade tags in and he throws forearms at Ishii. He doesn't watch much Ishii tape, does he? One punch drops Blade and Cassidy tags in. Splash by Cassidy for 1. Hand in pockets and Cassidy throws his sloth kicks. He evades Blades charge but Butcher got the blind tag. He pounces Cassidy down into a slam. Blade tags in and he hits a pair of chops. Cassidy gets sent the floor. Bunny kicks him as we go to commercial.
Back to live action, Blade tags in. Cassidy has been beaten down throughout the break but finally breaks through. Ishii takes Blade down with a shoulder tackle and chops him in the corner. Backdrop suplex by Ishii. Blade escapes a suplex and tags Butcher in. They exchange forearms. Clubbing forearm by Butcher. Butcher with chops in the corner. Ishii does not register the blows. Ishii is actually walking into the strikes. Big elbow by Ishii and he sets up a superplex and connects for 2, Blade with the save. Blade tags in, as does Cassidy. Slumdog and a DDT by Cassidy for 2. Butcher prevents an Orange punch. Butcher and Blade with magi killer for 2. Ishii tags in and rains elbows on Butcher. Matt Hardy and Bunny get on the apron. She tosses Blade the brass knux but Romero pulls Blade out. Cassidy takes out Hardy and Blade on the outside while Ishii with a Brainbuster on Blade for the pin.
WINNERS: Orange Cassidy and Tomohiro Ishii
??????Tony is with FTR w/Tully Blanchard and Andrade El Idolo. They challenge Cody and Death Triangle to an 8 man tag. Tully wants in. Apparently, every other interviewer has the night off.
Back from commercial, we get pre recorded comments from Tay Conti, who is proud of her effort Saturday. Tony is with Dr. Britt Baker DMD and Rebel & Jamie Hayter. Baker is angry at Tony for bringing up next week's Hayter vs. Thunder Rosa TBS Tournament Match.
TBS Championship Quarterfinal: Nyla Rose w/Vickie Guerrero vs. Hikaru Shida
No time wasted as they fire away at the bell. Rose misses a clothesline but nails punches in the corner. She misses a dive and Shida with a running knee and a splash for 2. Shida with a diving elbow. Rose reverses a suplex. Side kick by Shida and Rose rolls out. Shida chases her but Rose beats her back and nails an elbow drop. Shoulder blocks in the corner by Rose. Snap mare and a knee strike by Rose. Rose stomps the left knee of Shida and drapes it across the bottom rope. Rose and Vickie work her over against the rope while Rose distracts the referee.
Nyla sends her into the buckle, knee first and Shida rolls out. Rose follows her and tries a whip but Shida sends her into the barricade. Shida sets up a chair but Rose with a clothesline and sets Shida up on the chair. Rose goes straight through the chair as Shida gets out of the way. Vickie tries to use the kendo stick but Shida gets it and strikes he heck out of her with it. Shida to the top rope and Rose slams her to the canvas as we go to commercial.
We're back and Serena Deep with a chop block on the outside while the referee tends to Rose. Rose uses the opportunity to nail her legdrop from the top for 2. Shida fights out of the Beast Bomb and slaps on an armbar. Power Bomb by Rose to counter, she hits a senton to the knee. Rose misses a senton. Shida goes for a kick but Rose catches her in the Standing Side Muffler. Shida taps out quickly.
WINNER: Nyla Rose (advances to the Semi Finals)
Malakai Black addresses us backstage. He talks about next week's 8 man tag. He will make Cody Rhodes gasp for air.
MJF, Shawn Spears and Wardlow come out. The announcers venomously hate this man. Spears talks up his boss and MJF takes over by insulting Virginia. He calls himself the most complete pro wrestler on the planet and looks forward to the bidding war of 2024. He declares that no one in the locker room is on his level.
And here comes CM Punk. I didn't see this coming. VA is elated to see him. MJF offers his hand. Punk laughs and walks off
Tony Schiavone is backstage with Darby Allin, who says he was not broken mentally. He'll get his rematch in due time. He wants the biggest and best competition. The Gunn Club shows up and responds to him. Darby's simple answer is "screw it, let's do it"
Christian Cage, Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus are in the back and Cage talks about great it was to see the Super Elite. Jungle Boy actually cuts a promo while Luchasaurus growls.
We get a look at the Red Velvet vs. Jade Cargill feud.
The Young Bucks and Adam Cole are not happy about what happened Saturday. With The Bucks not cleared to compete, it'll be Cole and Fish vs. Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus this Friday on Rampage.
Lio Rush & Dante Martin vs. The Acclaimed
Rush and Martin with double tope suicidas during Bowen's addressing the crowd. Bowens gets thrown in the corner and uppercutted by Martin. Rush tags in and they send Bowens running in circles until a drop toe hold by Martin and a dropkick by Rush. Dante tags in and slaps Bowens but Bowens bullies him in the corner with chops. Martin gets a moment of offense until Caster pulls him out and they execute a double suplex. Caster tags in and kicks and ground and pounds Martin. Bowens tags in and stomps Martin. Martin tries to fire back but Bowens with a knee to the gut. Caster tags in and hits a Rude Awakening for 2 as we go to commercial.
Back live, Martin kicks Bowens off of a corner charge and gets the tag to rush. Let's just say Rush's offense is FAST. A mere mortal man is a having a hard time with the complete description. Rush misses a frog splash. Caster with a throat chop. Martin makes the save and hits Caster with a dropkick as all 4 men are down. Front face lock by Rush but gets suplexed back. Caster tags in and knocks Martin off the apron. The Acclaimed hit the mic drop for 2 but Martin with the save at the last moment. Enziguiri by Martin into a blockbuster. Rush with the frog splash by Rush and he scores the pin on Bowens.
WINNERS: Dante Martin and Lio Rush.
Here comes Team Taz to congratulate Lio and Dante. Condolences are offered to the Rush family but really talk up Dante Martin and say they're willing to be patient.
The Lucha Bros with a warning for FTR. I love Alex translating for him.
TNT Championship: Sammy Guevara (TNT Champion) vs Jay Lethal
Lethal is coming out to a new song with a Pomp and Circumstance opening. Surreal to see the backbone of ROH all this time in AEW. Tony Nese is watching at ringside. Virginia has some love for LEthal as they lockup, waistlock by Guevara. They exchange escapes. Sammy catches a Lethal injection attempt and hit a Magistral roll up for 2. These 2 then proceed to exchange a SERIES of 2 count rollups. Dropkick by Lethal for 2. The challenger with a backbreaker for 2. Lethal attacks the ribs and nails them with a knee strike. Backbreaker/facebuster combo. Sammy with a knee strike sends Lethal to the outside. Guevara hits a tope con hillo. He tries a shooting star press but Lethal gets the knees up. The champion writhes in pain as we got o commercial.
We're back and Doc Samson is checking out the ribs of the champion. The match is on pause. Guevara pushes the doc away and demands the match continue. He fires up and we have a slugfest.Lethal gets the better of it and kicks the ribs. Sammy blocks a Lethal Injection and hits a Spanish Fly. Lethal rolls out. Lethal hits a knee strike that sends Guevara to the outside. Lethal goes for a tope but Sammy catches him with a suplex. Elbow strikes by Guevara. A knee strike sends Lethal sprawling on the timekeepers table. Sammy misses a senton off the top and goes straight through the table. Lethal throws him back in and hits the elbow drop off the top. Guevara actually caught it and rolls him up for 2. Pump kick by Guevara. Figure 4 by Lethal. Sammy tries for the ropes but Lethal pulls him back. Sammy finally gets the ropes and forces the break. Guevara with a knee strike he can't hold Lethal up. Sammy rolls through a snap dragon. Sammy finally hits the GTH and scores the pin.
