THE NEXT TOP CONTENDER DETERMINED, SUZUKI VS. KALEB AND MORE: IMPACT WRESTLING ON AXS TV REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2021-11-11 22:01:00

This week's Impact Wrestling on AXS featured a recap of everything that led to tonight.

FinJuice vs. Bullet Club's El Phantasmo & Chris Bey with Hikuleo - Winners Become Top Contenders to Impact Wrestling Tag Team Championship

Bey and Finlay started, going back and forth.  Lots of nice exchanges and near falls early.  Finlay nailed a kneedrop and tagged in Robinson, who slammed Bey and dropped him with a back senton splash for a two count.  FinJuice tagged in and out, working over Bey's arm.  Robinson nailed a splash for a two count.  Robinson held Bey for a delayed vertical suplex.  El Phantasmo grabbed Robinson's leg, allowing him to get distracted.  Bey knocked him to the floor, where Hikuelo dropped him across the guard rail.  Bey and ELP worked over Robinson, double teaming him and scoring several two counts.

Bullet Club doubleteamed Robinson, scoring several two counts while also knocking Finlay off the ropes to the outside.  ELP and Bey took turns coming off the top and then stopping to rake the back of Robinson.  Robinson fired back and forth with ELP with jabs, but ELP grabbed him by the, well, nipples.

Robinson drilled him and they both went down.  Robinson finally made the hot tag to Finlay, who cleaned house on Bey.  He nailed an awesome jawjacker back elbow.  Finlay nailed a pescado to the outside.  Finlay nailed a sideslam for a two count.  Robinson tagged in and nailed an inverted atomic drop, then held Bey for Finlay to drill.  They nailed a variation of the old Demolition finisher but ELP made the save.  They beat ELP out of the ring and went back on the attack on Bey.

They went for the Doomsday Device but ELP went after Finlay.  Finlay dove off the top at him but took out Hikuleo instead. Robinson went for a victory roll but was superkicked in the face by ELP and they scored the pin.

Your winners, Bullet Club!

Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers hit the ring and cleared it but Hikuleo nailed Anderson.  He went nose to nose with Gallows and began brawling.  Hikuleo got the better of the exchange and tossed Gallows to the floor.  They faced off.

Matt Striker and D'Lo Brown ran down the Turning Point PPV lineup for 11/20 in Las Vegas.  Good Brothers vs. Bullet Club is official for the PPV.

Gia Miller interviewed Scott D'Amore asking why Josh Alexander wasn't involved in the main event.  Scott said he has a lot of respect for Josh Alexander but running a company means you have to balance a lot of things.  Josh walked out and asked him why Scott isn't returning his calls.  He said he should be the number one contender.  Scott asked him to trust him a little bit and a few weeks ago, he told he lets his emotions get the better of him.  He's going to give him time to get his head straight and get Minoru Suzuki out of his mind.  Once he beats Suzuki, he can go focus on the World title.  He can go watch Suzuki tonight and get ready.

They showed footage of Sam Beale pinning Bryan Myers on last week's BTI.  They aired a vignette where Brian Myers was yelling at Zicky Dice and VSK over his loss last week.  Dice was happy as he won money on the match.  The idea was Myers slapped him and then slapped him again after VSK pointed out he had already beaten Beale.  Myers challenged Beale to face him one on one with no one at ringside and warned him his worst student ever was a dead man.

Kaleb with A K vs. Minoru Suzuki

Kaleb was understandly worried.  They showed Josh Alexander watching backstage on a monitor.  Kaleb actually caught him with a kick and went for a suplex but Suzuki escaped and went for an armbar.  Kaleb grabbed the ropes but was snatched in a leglace, forced to go for the ropes again.  The crowd chanted for Suzuki.  Kaleb drilled him but Suzuki just smiled at him.  Suzuki absorbed his punches, then snapped him in a sleeper, then a Gotch piledriver.

Your winner, Minoru Suzuki!

Gia Miller interviewed Impact Wrestling Champion Moose.   He said that he has three men angry at him for different reasons.  He did try to break Eddie Edwards' neck.  Matt Cardona has been wrestling for 15 years and he took away the once chance he had to be in a main event role.  He screwed W. Morrisey before it could go the other way.  He has dangerous men gunning for him, but he's the champion because he's the most dangerous man in the locker room.  The winner should be concerned because they'll be facing him.

Decay vs. The Undead Bridesmaids.

Decay sent them into the ropes and nailed stereo big boots that sent them to the floor.

The IInspiration came out and sat down on stools on the entrance stage to watch.

After a commercial, the bell officially sounded with Kimber Lee ripping at Rosemary's face.  She locked in a side chinlock as the crowd chanted for Rosemary.  Kimber Lee drilled her with a kick to the head for a two count.

The Undead Brides double-teamed Rosemary.  Brandi Lauren kicked her down but Rosemary rose up and brought her into the corner, tagging in Havok.  Havok worked her over with a running splash in the corner, then a backbreaker over the knee.  She scored the pin as Rosemary knocked Kimber Lee off the apron.

Your winners, Decay!

The IInspiration came to ringside.  Decay circled the ring heading to the back.

Backstage, Heath Miller said the last year has been rough for him but he busted his butt to get back and reunite with Rhino.  Violent by Design beat the crap out of him last week and he's still hurt (and in a great attention to detail, Heath's voice was raspy, adding to that) but he's got Rhino back.  His little girls have their Uncle back.  Rhino has his voice back.  Rhino said the last year of his life feels like it happened to someone else.  Eric Young poisoned his mind, body and soul.  He and Heath will purge the VBD poison from his body when Rhino gores them at Turning Point.  He promised he was coming for Eric Young.

They showed Eddie Edwards preparing for the main event tonight.

Chris Sabin said he wanted Ace Austin to know how stupid he looks wearing an "I Beat Chris Sabin" shirt.  He challenges Austin to a match at Turning Point.  He promised to wipe his rear with it and shove the shirt down his throat.

They show footage from "last week" where backstage, Madison Rayne and Kaleb were complaining about how they've been treated.  Scott D'Amore said Madison can wrestle Mercedes Martinez next week, which would be tonight.

Madison Rayne vs. Mercedes Martinez.

No Kaleb as he's nursing his wounds.

Madison went right to her, trying to psych Mercedes out.  It didn't work out so well early but Madison nailed a pair of Codebreakers for two counts.  Rayne choked Martinez against the ropes with her boot.  She nailed several shoulderblocks in the corner, but Martinez drilled her with several hard shots to the mid-section.  Rayne grabbed her in a cravate, trying to wear Martinez down.

Martinez came back with a Tiger Driver for a two count.  Martinez nailed a series of forearms.  Martinez kicked her and nailed a DDT.  She went for a fisherman's buster but Madison turned it into a small package.  Martinez was worked over but kept kicking up as Rayne was getting more and more frustrated.  Martinez nailed a running knee.  She went for a Kryptonite Krunch but Rayne escaped, only to be trapped in a pinfall predicament.

Your winner, Mercedes Martinez!

Rayne attacked her after the bout and nailed a ripcord cutter.

Rayne went to the floor and nailed her with a steel chair.  She was going to do more damage but Mickie James hit the ring and knocked Rayne out of the ring with the Chick Kick.

James checked on Martinez but was snatched up and hit with the Kryptonite Krunch.  Martinez acted like she was kicking dirt on James before exiting the ring.

Maclin cut a promo.  He noted that he lost last week, just like it says he lost at Bound for Glory.  No matter what the record books say, not a single soul has been able to defeat him.  He deserves to be in the X-Division title match.  Trey Miguel burst in and said if he wants to be beaten, all he has to do is ask.  Scott D'Amore stopped them.  Trey asked them to make it a Triple Threat match at the PPV.  Scott said that's not how things work here.  If Maclin can beat Laredo Kid match next week, it's a Triple Threat.  If he doesn't win, he can keep himself home because Scott is tired of seeing him interfering in matches.  Maclin told him he doesn't have to worry about that.

They showed W. Morrisey getting ready.

Sam Beale said he'll face Brian Myers next week but he's beaten him.  He knows how good Brian Myers truly is, so he knows the challenges that come with his match.  He has to do this on his own without anyone with him.  He's going to prove he can stand on his own two feet.  He's going to bring everything Myers taught him but maybe he's going to be the one to learn the lesson.

They showed Rohit Raju confronting Rocky Romero last week to set up tonight.

Rohit Raju vs. Rocky Romero.

They locked up and Raju scored an early takedown, playing to the crowd.  They went back and forth grappling before returning to their feet, facing off.  Raju caught Romero with a kick.  Romero caught him going for a leapfrog and then nailed a rana to the outside.  Romero dove off the ring steps to nail a clothesline.

After commercial, Raju was back in control and whipped him hard into the turnbuckles.  He scored several big moves in succession before scoring a two count with a fisherman's buster.  Raju choked him against the ropes.  Raju locked on a keylock, trying to force a submission but Romero shoved him into the buckles to force a break.  Romero lit him up with a series of chops.  Lots of nice back and forth wrestling here.  Raju shoved off a tornado DDT and nailed the running knee strike to get the pin.

Your winner, Rohit Raju!

Backstage, Hernandez said Johnny Swinger and he are old school.  He said that since Swinger has a Demon problem, so he made a match, Decay & The Demon vs. Johnny Swinger & Hernandez.  John E. Bravo said that he has a partner for them and it was Fallah Bahh.  He said that he wants to do this so for once, Swinger owes him.

They showed Matt Cardona getting ready backstage.

Chelsea Green cut a promo.  She doesn't care who she goes through to get the Digital Media title and she's going to get Jordynne's title.

Matt Rehwoldt vs. Alisha Edwards vs. Jake Something vs. Chelsea Green will air this Tuesday on Impact+.

W. Morrisey vs. Eddie Edwards vs. Matt Cardona - Winner Earns Turning Point PPV Impact Championship match

Everyone battles.  Eddie Edwards gets knocked to the floor.  Morrisey worked over Cardona and called for a chokeslam.  He nailed a big right.  Cardona fought back but missed a missile dropkick.  Edwards nailed Morrisey with a kick.  He and Cardona doubleteamed the big man.  Morrisey grabbed them both and nailed a chokeslam in stereo as they went to commercial.

When they returned, Morrisey still controlled the ring.  They showed Moose watching from a balcony.  Morrisey nailed a splash in the corner on Carona and rained down with big right hands.  He kicked Cardona off the apron but Edwards attacked his knee.  Morrisey fought off a Blue Thunder Bomb.  Edwards went for a spear but Morrisey moved and Cardona was speared off the apron.

Morrisey nailed a Fall Away Slam and began beating Edwards down with right hands.  He knocked Cardona back out of the ring.  He controlled the ring on Edwards, choking him with a boot to the throat.  He mocked the fans chanting for Edwards, but that only fired him up.  They fired back and forth with chops.   Morrisey wiped him out with a hard shot to the face and covered him for another two count.

Cardona returned to the ring.  Morrisey tried to fight them off but they broke him down, leading to Edwards nailing the Blue Thunder Bomb.  All three were down on the mat fighting to their feet.  They all began exchanging chops and punches.  Morrisey fought off a double suplex and reversed it.  The crowd was chanting for him.  He nailed Avalanches in the corner on each man.  Eddie fought back but was drilled with a big right and placed on the top rope.

Morrisey went for a superplex but Cardona attacked him and went underneath, setting up a Tower of Doom spot.  Cardona covered Morrisey, who kicked up at the last second. Cardona escaped a Fireman's Carry but was caught in a Black Hole Slam for a two count.

Cardona and Edwards nailed a double suplex on Morrisey and then tricked him into being sent over the top to the floor.  With him out of the equation, they started exchanging fists.  Morrisey tried to return to the ring but they sent him back to the floor.  Edwards went for a suicide dive but was caught.  Cardona nailed a kick through the ropes.  Edwards nailed Morrisey with the Boston Knee Party.

Back in the ring, Edwards avoided Radio Silence and nailed the Boston Knee Party on Cardona, scoring the pin.

Your winner, Eddie Edwards!
