MLW ANNOUNCES RETURN TO MEXICO NEXT MONTH

Major League Wrestling’s Azteca Underground brand and The Crash Lucha Libre will hold a co-promoted television taping on December 3 in the 4,500-seat Auditorio de Tijuana, MLW announced today.

The two brands had been set to collaborate in September, though plans were quietly shelved. The Crash instead held its first show since the start of the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic independently on September 11 in the same arena, headlined by Andrade versus Laredo Kid versus Fénix.

The upcoming television taping will mark the first time MLW has taped in-ring content for its Azteca Underground brand. El Hijo del L.A. Park, L.A. Park, L.A. Park Jr. and King Muertes are the four luchadores listed on Azteca Underground’s website (seen here), while Aramis, Arez and Matt Cross are among other MLW talent who have been associated with the brand.

Azteca Underground is spearheaded (in kayfabe) by Cesar Duran, who formerly portrayed Dario Cueto in now-defunct promotion Lucha Underground. PWInsider reported on August 9 that Azteca Underground will be kept mostly separate from Fusion (MLW’s existing flagship show), though Duran has been a prevalent figure on Fusion in recent weeks as the company’s new matchmaker.

MLW has held co-promoted television tapings in Mexico before, collaborating with Lucha Libre AAA World Wide to hold a taping last March also in the Auditorio de Tijuana.

Major League Wrestling today announced its next event will take place in Tijuana, Mexico as a co-promotion with THE CRASH Lucha Libre featuring: MLW Azteca.  The super card will take place at the Auditorio Fausto Gutierrez on Friday night December 3rd. Tickets can be purchased at Super Boletos. "December 3rd I will take MLW to Mexico for the best luchas in the world," said MLW matchmaker Cesar Duran. "THE CRASH has a fantastic reputation for specular events and now we give the renegades a day of super luchas like never before!" Duran, the owner of Azteca Underground, has been connected to rumors of an Azteca Underground lucha libre project since making his MLW debut May 5th.  Additional details on the card will be revealed in the days and weeks ahead.
