The following press release was issued:

Pro Wrestling Spotlight with John Arezzi Is Back - With an Exciting New Format

Returns With New Co-Host, Guests & More

NASHVILLE/NEW YORK - For decades, the multi-faceted John Arezzi has enjoyed a career like no other, and his Long Island, New York-based pro wrestling radio show, Pro Wrestling Spotlight, was one of the nation’s most prominent sources for hot wrestling news and live guests from April 1989 through January 1995. Now, the beloved show returns as the John Arezzi’s Pro Wrestling Spotlight podcast. It will re-debut as a new show on Friday, October 22, 2021, and is already available to enjoy on Arezzi’s Patreon page.

John Arezzi’s Pro Wrestling Spotlight brings back audio clips of significant moments in pro wrestling history, new interviews with mat personalities and stars, classic moments with legendary grapplers, personal remembrances of wrestling as it used to be, and of course, the one-of-a-kind Arezzi, who ranks as one of the most popular figures in pro wrestling during the past five decades.

The first few shows will feature specific events from 30 years ago. The debut show, airing October 22, puts the spotlight on the 1991 Weekend of Champions convention that Arezzi organized, including a replay of interviews with attendees Lou Thesz, Buddy Rogers, and Ric Flair. The October 29 show will focus on the 1991 steroid scandals, with special guests including Evan Husney, co-creator of VICE TV’s Dark Side of the Ring. In November, the show will settle into its regular format, covering what happened on Pro Wrestling Spotlight 30 years to the week of the original airing of the show.

Joining Arezzi will be new co-host Bob Smith, a veteran of Pro Wrestling Illustrated and WCW Magazine, and producer and editor Alex Robertson of SlamWrestling.net. This new Arezzi podcast will provide listeners with the inside scoop about pro wrestling during one of its most controversial eras and throws a fresh coat of paint on the format by offering new commentary and expert analysis about classic wrestling that can’t be heard anywhere else.

This new version of Pro Wrestling Spotlight follows Arezzi’s success with his memoir, Mat Memories: My Wild Life in Pro Wrestling, Country Music, and With the Mets, released in April 2021 by ECW Press). The book, which ranked at #1 in Wrestling Biographies on Amazon.com upon its release, was written with veteran journalist Greg Oliver. Mat Memories details Arezzi’s frenetic life as not only a wrestling journalist, but as an actual pro wrestler, a country music star-maker, a minor-league baseball executive, and more. It’s a fascinating look at the life of one of pro wrestling’s most unique characters, and it is available now in all formats wherever books are sold.
