MATT TREMONT UPDATE, ONITA PROMISES TO RETURN AND MORE H2O DESTINY NOTES

By Mike Johnson on 2021-11-01 10:52:00

Matt Tremont was said to be in great pain after his match with Atsushi Onita last night and went to the hospital shortly after their bout.  There is no update yet on how he is doing.

The Onita-Tremont "Destiny" event drew in the 250-350 area live last night in Trenton, NJ.   Going against Halloween night, on a Sunday (work night) no less had to have hurt the draw, but I also believe a major factor was trying to overcome the disappointment that was the first Onita-Tremont bout in CZW, which did not have great booking.

Atsushi Onita went immediately back to the FMW-E merchandise table to take photos with fans after the match.  He offered tickets for a free photo with him post-show to any fan that spent upwards of $40 at the FMW-E table.

Onita came to the ring as The Great Nita, which I thought was a great little surprise.

Onita told the fans after the show that he would return with more violence and promised an even bigger spectacle.  Mind you, the spectacle last night featuring Tremont taking a bump onto an exploding barbed wire board that then set off an insane amout of pyro, Tremont being hit with an exploding light tube bundle AND Tremont being hiptossed into a flaming barbed wire board that left his gear burning as he rolled through the bump.  So the idea of something to top all that should scare the hell out the average person!

There was a lot of stress going into the week of the show making sure everything was pulled off as planned technically with the match.  A big part of the issue was making sure all the materials needed for the pyro would arrive in time due to supply lines.  Believe it or not, there was actually a Plan B this past week that if they couldn't pull off the pyro, they'd reach out to CZW and try and get the Cage of Death, but it never came to that.  It was not 100% concrete that everything would arrive in time until just three or four days before the show, so they literally came across the finish line right before the end of the time limit.  We are told that G-Raver was a big help in making sure everything fell into place and Matt Tremont had been extremely stressed trying to make sure he delivered what was promised.

A contingent of GCW brass including Brett Lauderdale were in attendance at the event.  As we noted last night, Homicide was also at the event.

Effy missed the show due to a flight issue.

On a personal note, it was great to see everyone who stopped by where we were set up to cover the show and say hello, especially those of you I haven't seen in probably close to two years.   There is absolutely nothing better than the kidness of our subscribers and readers.   Getting to spend time with the legendary George Mayfield and Tony Lewis was a hell of a blessing as well.  It's been years since George has been at a pro wrestling show, in part due to several knee replacement surgeries that he had a hell of a time getting past, so it was really awesome to see and spend some true quality time with one of my most beloved friends.
