It is Friday, and AEW is presenting a taped Rampage. They are still at the Agganis Arena in Boston MA. The commentators are Excalibur, Taz, Ricky Starks, and Chris Jericho.
Bryan Danielson vs Eddie Kingston in the World Title Tournament.
They take their time feeling each other out wish a kick here, a quick tier up that breaks as quickly with a chop or two. The story of the match will be that Bryan is a great wrestler and Eddie is a striker. They work each other over in the corners and Eddie rolls to the outside, grabs a chair and throws it at the ring.
When he returns to the ring, Bryan goes for a single leg, but Eddie blocks him and gets a front facelock. They break and go back to strikes in the corners. Ts working over one of Eddie's arms. Eddie is able to break free and works in chops. Bryan is able to get in a head butt here and there, but Eddie keeps the attack up, and after hitting Bryan with a drop kick, he takes Bryan to the corner for chops, a bite and we go to picture in picture.
When we return to full screen, Bryan has been on the outside recovering, and Eddie waited in the ring for him. Bryan's chest looks like he's taken a brutal beating. Eddie runs at Bryan but is out of the ring with a low bridge, Bryan leaps onto him, and Eddie recovers and hits Bryan with a suplex and gets back in the ring.
Bryan gets into the ring at 9 and Eddie suplexes him for a two count. He then locks on a neck based hold using his leg and arm to hold Bryan down, they call it the stretch plum. Bryan is able to make it to the ropes for a break and Eddie takes him back to the corner for more chops. Eddie takes him to the top and tries for another suplex, but Bryan works free. Eddie goes up again for a super plex, and Bryan fights his way free again. Eddie nails Bryan in the jaw and he is stuck on the top.
Eddie goes up for another move and Bryan escapes and hits a belly to back on Eddie from the top. Both men are struggling to get up. When they get to their feet, they trade chops in the middle of the ring. Then Bryan starts with kicks. Bryan hits a roundhouse to the head and then follows up with another series of kicks while Eddie is on his knees and then drops to the mat. Bryan then rains down forearms and follows with an arm bar.
Eddie works his way up, escapes and hits a DDT on Bryan. Both men are down and slow to get to their feet. They get to their knees and trade blows, then get to their feet and keep up the strikes. Eddie hits a back fist and drops to the mat with Bryan doing the same.
The crowd is on their feet applauding.
Eddie makes it to Bryan who locks in the triangle choke. Eddie gives a middle finger before passing out.
Your winner and moving on in the tournament: Bryan Danielson
Great match, stiff and made both men look tough and dangerous with Bryan winning by being able to take advantage of a slight error by Eddie.
Tony Schiavone is with CM Punk and they are interrupted by Eddie Kingston who is furious that he lost and he gets in Punk's face. People get between them and take Eddie from the area and Punk said he will make him go to sleep again.
We see the announce table which is made up for Halloween and Jericho has a LONG gray wig on.
Matt Sydal vs Dante Martin w/Lio Rush
The announcers put over the Dante is confused by the situation, thinking Lio is trying to replace his brother, who is out injured.
Matt starts the match by jawing at Dante. I was able to make out that he was saying “I can show you the way.”
They lock up and Matt gets a series of take downs. They lock up again and Matt takes Dante down. Dante works his way up and they have a lot of countermoves for each other. Dante is able to thrust Matt into the turnbuckle with an innovative grab with his feet and then goes for his high flying moves, ending with a back flip onto Matt on the outside. Dante is in control on the small screen.
When we return to full screen, Matt has turned it around and has been able to put Dante is a sideways surfboard and then worked him over in the middle of the ring. Dante is able to leap over the ropes when tossed to the corner. He leaps in and Matt is able to get a leaping kick. Matt then hits a series of moves and kicks to keep Dante down.
Matt tosses Dante to the ropes and sets too soon, and Dante leaps over him and gets a sunset flip and a two count. That leap was amazing and almost looked like he was floating. Dante is able to leaps onto Matt shoulders for a stomp. Dante goes to the top and Matt gets up and gets a chop to slow Dante so they are both on the top. Matt is tossed down and he leaps up and gets a leaping Hurricanrana. Dante gets a crucifix counter and a two count.
Dante hits a series of forearms with anger all over his face. They trade blows and kicks. Dante avoids a lightning spiral and hits a cutter. Dante hits the double springboard moonsault and covers for the three count and the win.
Your winner: Dante Martin
A great high flying match that told the story they wanted to tell of Dante finally beating Matt with Lio's help. Both men also showed the toll of the high flying moves, slowing down as they got deeper into the match, pulling out their big moves to try and get the win.
Mark Henry is back for the pre-main event interview. Abadon looks SO different, has a blood-like fluid come from her mouth. Baker says he will send Abadon back to hell, and Jamie Hayter and Rebel are made up as zombies. Abadon is gone and the time for talking is over.
We then get a rundown of the card for Wednesday and next week's Rampage, which will be live.
Britt Baker (AEW Women's Champion) vs Abadon Trick or Treat match, no DQ and if Abadon wins, she gets a title shot.
Jericho says that Rebel and Jamie aren't real zombies but Abadon is.
Crawling to the ring from the Black Hills is Abadon, and Taz loves him some Rob Zombie as he calls her the Living Dead Girl.
Abadon screeches at Baker who bails from the ring. Baker comes back in and takes a stunner and Baker rolls to the outside again. Rebel and Jamie [pull out a table and we go to a commercial break.
When we come back, Abadon drops a chair on Baker and then hits a senton onto the chair. Abadon sets the chair into the ropes in the corner. Baker is tossed to the corner, but stops and hits a drop toe hold to knock Abadon into the chair. They roll Abadon on the table, but Abadon gets up and they struggle on the apron.
Britt hits a swinging neck breaker onto the table WHICH DOES NOT BREAK!!
Baker suplexes Abadon onto the table BUT THE TABLE DOESN'T BREAK!
Abadon is up first and tosses Baker into the ring. Abadon grabs a bag of thumbtacks from under the ring and Jericho says he hopes it is a very small snake. Baker is horrified by the thumbtacks and they struggle in front of the tacks. They tease a DDT on the thumbtack and instead Baker gets slammed onto the tacks and takes a two count.
Baker is crawling on the mat and a chair is slid to her. And Baker tosses the chair at Abadon, then sets the chair around Abadon's neck and hits a stomp. Abadon is up and Baker is putting on the glove. Baker kicks Abadon, puts a handful of thumbtacks into Abadon's mouth and kicks her in the face. Baker goes for lockjaw but is scared to put her hand in Abadon's mouth, and Abadon bites her and holds her hand in her mouth. Jamie attacks and Rebel goes to attack and gets bitten by Abadon.
This allows Baker to sneak in from behind and get the surprise rollup, the three count and the win.
