Former Impact Wrestling X-Division Champion Petey Williams is backstage at tonight's WWE Friday Night Smackdown in Wikes-Barre, PA. We are told Williams is getting a tryout as a producer for the company, something he has done well in recent years for Impact.
Williams, 40, has spent the majority of his career with Impact Wrestling/TNA, having initially debuted there in 2004 and having strong in-ring performances for the promotion. Williams has also wrestled for Ring of Honor in the past. Most recently, he had been in a program with Steve Maclin, building him as a heel for Impact. He's been one of the most respected and well liked performers behind the scenes for the company and was originally trained by Scott D'Amore.
Williams was backstage producing at the Bound for Glory PPV in Las Vegas and the subsequent TV tapings this past weekend.
