For the unitiated Black Adam is one of the more powerful and popular DC Comic villains and will allow Rock to play a darker character. There were allusions made to him, but not by name, in DC's feature film adaptation of Shazam! Last year during DC Comics' first Fandome virtual gathering, Johnson himself revealed that DC Comics' original superhero team The Justice Society of America would be featured in the film, including the characters of Hawkman, The Atom Smasher, Dr. Fate and Cyclone. Black Adam, which has finished filming, has a 7/29/22 release date.
