G1 Climax 31 - B Block Matches:
Taichi vs. Chase Owens
Owens comes to the ring with a Bobby Eaton T-Shirt and wearing Bobby Eaton inspired tights, rather than his Bullet Club Crown Jewel tights. Very cool. Taichi still has his ribs taped up.

On his way back to the locker, Owens points to his tights, then to the sky. He said "that was for you Beautiful".
Solid match. It was a subtle thing, but I liked how Chase Owens was able to pay tribute to one of his mentors and heroes. I appreciate New Japan and Taichi to allow this to happen for Owens.
Hirooki Goto vs. SANADA
Both men were evenly matched. They both tried to one up the other, by using each other's moves. Goto hit a Reverse GTR. SANADA countered with a roll up and bridge.
SANADA pins Goto.
SANADA earns 2 points and reaches 8 total.
With no disrespect to either wrestler, because they had a good match. Both men will not be close to winning B Block, so interest in the match is lacking.
Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. YOSHI-HASHI
Similar to the prior match, both men were evenly matched. Tanahashi hit a Slingblade, Aces High and a High Fly Flow.
Tanahashi pins YOSHI-HASHI.
Hiroshi Tanahashi earns 2 points and gets to 8 points total.
Tanahashi sits in the ring next to YOSHI-HASHI and they have positive words with each other.
This was great match. Kevin Kelly made a point to say that YOSHI-HASHI has never beaten Tanahashi in a one-on-one match. However, YOSHI-HASHI did have Tanahashi on the ropes. If he hit Kharma, he could have won. Also, Tanahashi had to hit his three top moves just to put YOSHI-HASHI away. Both men came out of this match looking strong.

Jeff Cobb earns 2 points, remains undefeated and is the first man in the G1 to reach 16 points.
Good match. I understand the reasoning for all the on-going shenanigans by EVIL and Togo throughout the G1. It was a storyline. Cobb was able to best both men and beat them at their own game tonight. However, I still think the cheating, the referee bumps, the referee ignoring the breaking of rules, etc. hurts EVIL and Togo. It hurts the concept of the "House of Torture" and, ultimately, could hurt Bullet Club as a whole.
Kazuchika Okada vs. Tama Tonga, with Jado
Okada and Tama began the match with mat wrestling. They worked leg submissions and headlocks. Very even in the early moments. Tama hits a hard chop on Okada as he came off the ropes. Two count!! Tama hits a DSD.
Tama pins Okada!
Tama Tonga pins the Rainmaker! He earns 2 points to get to 6 points.
Tama Tonga and Jado embrace in the ring. Tama gets the mic and he says tonight starts a new chapter for Tama Tonga. In the interview area, Tama said that he wanted to make a mark against the mountain in New Japan which is Okada, which did tonight. He repeated that he starting a new chapter for Tama Tonga starting tonight.
Wow!! This was a great match. Tama and Okada both looked sharp. Throughout the G1 Climax, Tama added new moves to his arsenal. Some that belonged to his father, Haku, but also others that he not used for awhile. He kept looking for the Gun Stun, but was able to get a solid win with the DSD. Since he has been a tag wrestler for so long, it shall be interesting to see what happens from here. Will G.O.D. appear in World Tag League or look towards single championships? Okada will have to deal with Jeff Cobb, but does this start a rivalry between Tama Tonga and Okada? If Okada beats Cobb, and wins the G1, does Tama Tonga have a right to challenge Okada for the Wrestle Kingdom Title match? There are a lot of storyline possibilities here as we head towards Wrestle Kingdom.
To follow up on my comment about House of Torture, Tama Tonga did not need Jado to beat Kazuchika Okada. EVIL is a great wrestler. He does not need to use Dick Togo, referee bumps or cheating. The story can be told in the ring without such things. Tama Tonga and Chase Owens tonight made Bullet Club look strong. EVIL and Dick Togo made Bullet Club look weak.
