By Mike Johnson on 2021-10-09 20:00:00

Welcome to PWInsider.com's live, ongoing coverage of the 2021 Impact Wrestling Knockouts Knockdown PPV, taking place at Skyway Studios in Nashville, TN!

The PPV opened with a ten bell salute and tribute to Daffney with everyone from the company, male and femal, in and around the ring.  It was a really nice, classy moment.

They went into the opening video package before Veda Scott and Mickie James welcomes everyone to the show and run down the lineup for the tournament tonight.

Knockouts Knockdown Tournament Round One: Rachael Ellering vs. Lady Frost

They locked up and Ellering backed Frost into the corner, breaking clean.  They showed each other respect and locked up again.  Ellering gained control of her arm and covered Frost for a two count.  Frost fought back to her feet and was snatched into a side headlock.  Frost sent her off into the ropes but was shoulderblocked down on the rebound.  Frost kicked her but was nailed with a nice clothesline for another two count.   Ellering tied up Frost on the mat and snatched her again in a side headlock.

They ended up in the ropes to break it.  Frost ducked a lariat and used a head scissors takedown, then a nice kick in the corner.  Frost used a shotgun style dropkick, sending Ellering to the floor.  Frost set up for a dive but Ellering returned to the ring and nailed her with a jawjacker elbow.  Ellering chopped her in the corner then followed up with more chops and forearms.  Frost was whipped into the opposite corner with Ellering drilling her with more strikes in the corner.  Frost fired back with some real fire but failed with an armdrag, allowing Ellering to nail a back senton splash for a two count.

Frost escaped a charge in the corner with a cartwheel, then nailed a dropkick for another two count.  Frost nailed a great series of spears in the corner, then drilled Ellering across the chest with a double knee strike.  She scored a two count, then followed up with an axe-kick to the ribs and a standing moonsault for another near fall.  Frost went to the top but the reception was chilly as she was caught by Ellering.  Frost and Ellering escaped each other's moves until Frost nailed a pump kick.  Ellering fired back with a big lariat.  Frost wiped her out in the corner but Ellering came back with a spinebuster for a two count.

Frost nailed a running forearm but Ellering followed and drilled her.  Frost and Ellering fired back and forth until Ellering nailed a corkscrew legdrop off the ropes for a two count.  Ellering went for a Bossman slam but Frost evaded and kicked her away. They battled back and forth until Ellering scored the Big Bossman slam for the pin.

Your winner, Rachael Ellering!

This was EASILY the best showing for Lady Frost thus far in Impact.  A star making performance.  Ellering looked really great here as well and this was a truly fun, athletic opener.

Knockouts Knockdown Tournament Round One: Chelsea Green vs. Renee Michelle

They locked up in the corner and went back and forth into the corners, then the mat, with neither getting the advantage before they broke it.  They locked up again, going back and forth.  Michelle was backed into the corner and climbed up on the buckles, but was dropped down on her face.  Michelle grew upset and charged but was taken down in another headlock.  Michelle escaped and went to go up and over but Green still caught her with another headlock takeover.

Michelle reversed it but Green escaped and grabbed her yet again.  Green was sent into the ropes but shoulderblocked her down. Michelle finally gained control and worked over Green's bad arm.  Green tried to fight her way out but Michelle snatched her arm and drilled it.  Enraged, Green nailed a big pump kick to Michelle, who crashed to the mat.

Green rolled her up for a two count, then used a La Magistral and a backslide, scoring two counts.    Green nailed several clotheslines and a kick to the back of the head.  Green went for a kick that obviously missed and should have been edited off the broadcast.   Michelle came back with a spinning back kick that looked great, but Green grabbed the ropes.  Michelle argued with the official.  Michelle went for a neckbreaker but Green turned it into a Tomakaze and scored the pin.

Your winner, Chelsea Green!

A slower paced bout with more mat wrestling.  Solid.

Knockouts Knockdown Tournament Round One: Mercedes Martinez vs. Brandi Lauren

It was all Mercedes early on with some big chops.  Brandi cut her off with a kick to the mid-section and a rolling snapmare.  She charged Martinez in the corner and stomped away at the veteran.   Martinez quickly rebounded, drilled Lauren while she was on the ropes and nailed the OG Drop for the pin.

Your winner, Mercedez Martinez!

Short and sweet to establish Martinez as the badass to be reckoned with in the tournament.

Knockouts Knockdown Tournament Round One: Jamie Senegal vs. Tasha Steelz

Senegal had a tribute to Daffney on the back of her gear.    Senegal controlled Steelz with a side headlock but Steelz turned it into a rear hammerlock.  Senegal reversed and returned to the hammerlock.  She snapmared Steelz over and scored a one count.  They went to lock up again but Steelz kicked Senegal as she came in.  Senegal used several hiptosses and a dropkick to send her into the corner but Steelz avoided a charge.  Senegal backdropped her over the top to the apron.  Senegal slid out of the ring for...some reason?  It wasn't really clear.  Senegal played to the camera but was drilled by Steelz.

Senegal fired back with some nice forearms but had her leg drilled into the ring post.  She nailed Senegal again and left her on the floor.  Steelz broke the count and then returned to the floor, tossing Senegal into the ring for a close two count.  Steelz locked on a deep chinlock.   Steelz sent Senegal to the floor and stomped away at her when she returned.  Senegal was nailed with a kick to the sternum for a two count.

Senegal fired back and nailed several clotheslines.  She used the ropes as a springboard into a takedown but missed a charge in the corner.  Steelz was nailed with the Osaka Kick.  They said the move had been passed on to Senegal by Daffney.  Senegal continued to work over Steelz, including a nice German suplex where Senegal bounced off the ropes for extra leverage.

Senegal was going for a Sliced Bread #2 but Steelz caught it and crotched her in the ropes.  Steelz nailed a springboard bulldog for a two count.

Steelz kicked out of a rollup and nailed an Ace Cutter for a two count.  Steelz's facial expression at not getting the job done was awesome.  Steelz went for a suplex but it was blocked.  Steelz went for a Crucifix Bomb and finally scored the pin.

Your winner, Tasha Steelz!

This was Senegal's highest profile bout of her career.  She looked fine in certain spots and in others seemed hesitant, which may have been nerves.  Steelz was very good as the veteran keeping this going.
