PUNK VS. GARCIA AND MORE: AEW RAMPAGE REPORT

By Cory Strode on 2021-10-08 23:01:00

It's Friday night, and we're still on the campus of Temple University in Philadelphia.  Excalibur, Taz and Chris Jericho are the announce team.

We start with Daniel Garcia with 2point0 and CM Punk interviewed by Mark Henry, and Punk calls 2point0 the Nasty Boys little brothers.

CM Punk vs Daniel Garcia

Punk is back in his long tights. They start with a greco roman knuckle lock and Punk takes Garcia to the mat for a near fall right off the bat. They move to mat wrestling trading headlocks. Punk keeps up the methodical pace with body slams until Garcia is able to slip out the back, and drive Punk to the corner. He gets in a series of stomps, and when Punk escapes to set up the GTS, 2point0 get on the apron to distract the ref.

Garcia escapes and Punk takes an attack on his leg from Garcia and 2point0. Garcia keeps up the attack on Punk's leg, slamming it into the post. Garcia keeps the attack up on the floor and when they return to the ring, Garcia keeps up the attack on Punk's legs. Punk tries to mount a comeback, but he can't keep any strength on his injured leg. Garcia keeps up the attack with a verbal assault as well.

Punk dodges a drop kick in the corner and the both struggle to get up. They trade blows in the middle of the ring, and Punk wins the exchange with a roundhouse kick. They trade attacks with clotheslines and near falls. Garcia is able to get a sharp shooter, and Punk is able to crawl tot he ropes, but Garcia pulls him back, allowing Punk to escape. Punk kicks Garcia into 2poin0 on the apron, and Punk leaps off the top to all three on the floor.

Punk rolls Garcia in the ring, and hits Garcia with a springboard clothesline. He follows with a a piledriver and then locks in the anaconda vice, and Garcia taps.

Your winner: CM Punk.

Both of these guys told the story with the facial expressions. Garcia working the leg for the second half of the match made him look dangerous. Another great match for Punk making a young guy look strong.

In the back, Tony Schiavone with with Dante Martin, Lio Rush and Matt Sydal, and Sydal says he doesn't trust Lio and thinks he's not a financial genius, but instead a junk bond salesman. Lio refutes this, and Sydal needs to improve his value. So, next week, he will get him a match with CM Punk.

Lucha Brothers (AEW Tag Team Champions) vs The Acclaimed

The Acclaimed attack before the bell so that Lucha Brothers are hurt before we start. The Bros are able to recover and take over the match quickly. When they go for their Topes, Fenix leaps into Bowens, who holds up the boom box to take the brunt of the attack and Fenix is down.

Caster and Penta work in in the ring, but Bowens comes in and they double team Penta. They get a series of near falls off of the double team moves. Penta is able to fight his way free, but Fenix hasn't made it to the apron yet. Fenix struggles to the apron, gets the tag and Fenix is able to take them both out with rapid attacks. All four men get into the ring and after a series of superkicks, all are on the mat recovering.

Bowens is up first and they set up for the mic drop, but Penta knocks Caster off the top.  Penta then leaps off the top as Fenix holds Bowens, and Penta double stomps the yam bag. They hit him with an assisted underhook drop and cover Bowens for the three count.

Your winners and still AEW Tag Team Champions: The Lucha Brothers

We then get a video of Hangman Adam Page's winning the Casino Ladder Match Wednesday and the unveiling of the TBS Women's title.

Jade Cargill vs Skye Blue

Skye Blue tries a few moves, with Cargill hitting strong responses.  Skye is Jaded in less than two minutes.

Your winner: Jade Cargill

Jade goes to attack Skye Blue after the bell, but Thunder Rosa runs to the ring with a chair to run Cargill off.

We get a rundown of the card for next week's Rampage and the Saturday night Dynamite.

Ricky Starks (AEW Champion) vs Brian Cage in a Philly Street Fight.

Mark Henry interviews both men and after Starks's time, Cage says it's time for him to win, and says “Who better than Brian Cage? No one,” as a tribute to Chris Kanyon.

Starks tries to come in with a chair, but Cage stomps on it and starts by tossing Starks around the ring. Cage then starts with the chair. Cage then beats Starks down outside the ring. Cage then starts throwing plunder into the ring and Starks is able to escape a power slam and uses the pool cue. The brawl continues on the small screen during the commercials.

When we are back on the big screen, Starks is playing to the crowd instead of keeping up the attack. He wedges a chair in the corner and Cage is able to stop the Irish whip and instead tosses Starks over his head backwards. Starks has a chain in fist and nails Cage, and follows up with a leg drop with a garbage can lid.

Cage is able to turn the tide with a thrust kick and then uses the garbage can on Starks. Taz calls for Hook and Hobbs to go to the ring and Cage is able to hit each of them with a thrust kick and Starks uses the distraction to nail Cage and cover for a two count. Starks tries for a spear and Cage tosses him into the chair wedged in the corner. Cage hits the discus lariat and Hobbs pulls him off.  As Cage climbs to the top, Hook hits him with a low blow, allowing a bloody Starks to hit Cage with the Rochambeau and covers for the three count.

Your winner: Ricky Starks

We go off the air as Jericho wonders what is wrong with Hook's hair.

A solid brawl, not a crazy, all over the arena brawl, and if this is the end of this feud, it's a good blow off, hopefully to send both men in different directions.
