10/7 NJPW G1 CLIMAX A BLOCK RESULTS FROM HIROSHIMA, JAPAN

10/7/21 A Block Results from New Japan's G1 Climax 31 from Hiroshima, Japan:

1 - Ryohei Oiwa vs. El Desperado

El Desperado forces Oiwa to submit to an Indian Death Lock.

2 - Hiromu Takahashi vs. KENTA

At the bell, Hiromu hit a shotgun dropkick, which sent KENTA flying across the ring.  Hiromu pounded KENTA in the head.  Both men go to the floor.  KENTA smashes Hiromu against the guardrails and ring post.    Back in the ring, KENTA trapped Hiromu in a neck submission with his legs.  KENTA with vicious kicks to the chest.  KENTA takes off the turnbuckle and throws Hiromu into the corner.  Hiromu screams as his back hits the metal bolt.  KENTA continues to work on Hiromu's neck with headlocks.  Hiromu blocks a kick and hits a Dragonscrew.  Hiromu with a dropkick and a Falcon Arrow.  Two count. Pace picks up.  KENTA pushes Hiromu into the referee, who takes a bump.  KENTA gets a chair from under the ring.  Hiromu sees KENTA with the chair and starts yelling at him.   KENTA drops the chair and they start throwing fists.  Hiromu bounces off the ropes for an attack but KENTA throws the chair in his face.  KENTA hits Hiromu on the back with the chair.  KENTA hits the Green Killer (a draping DDT) on the chair.  KENTA grabs the referee.   KENTA goes for the pin.   Two count.  KENTA tries for Go To Sleep.  But Hiromu slides out.  KENTA throws hard open hand slaps to Hiromu's face.  Hiromu counters with a Victory Royale.  Hiromu goes for Time Bomb but KENTA wiggles out.  Hiromu with two superkicks.  Hiromu with a running fireman's carry into the turnbuckle.  Hiromu is about to hit one of his finishers, but KENTA pushes him headfirst into the metal bolt in the corner.   

KENTA rolls up Hiromu with a schoolboy and gets the pin.

G1 Climax 31 - A Block Matches: 3 - Kota Ibushi vs. Tanga Loa, with Jado

Both men are careful to lock up.  Tanga was aware of the kicks of Ibushi.   Tanga hits a dropkick.  Ibushi hits one of his own.  Tanga rolls to the floor.  Ibushi hits a plancha over the top rope.  Tanga gets thrown into the guardrails.   He counters with a spear.  He drops Ibushi on the ring apron with a back suplex.   Tanga hits a flipping senton and a standing moonsault.  Two count.  Tanga locks in rear chinlock to wear down Ibushi.    Ibushi gets a break in the ropes.  They start throwing hard strikes at each other.  Ibushi with a powerslam and a moonsault off the ropes.   Two count.  Tanga with an enzuigiri and a Blue Thunder Bomb.  Two count.  Ibushi with a sit down powerbomb.  Tanga kicks out at two.  Ibushi grabs the arms of Tanga to hit Kamigoye.  Tanga powers out and reverses positions with Ibushi.  Tanga hits a blindside Kamigoye to the back of Ibushi's head.  Ibushi is stunned and Tanga is slow to follow up.   Ibushi's nose is bloodied.  Tanga gets to his feet and hits a sit down powerbomb.  Two count.   Tanga with a release German suplex.  Ibushi 'hulks" up and hits a German suplex of his own.  Tanga blocks a high knee and plants Ibushi with a Poisonrana.  WOW!  Ibushi tried for a Poisonrana as well but missed the spot and both men fell to the mat.  Ibushi hits a Bomaye.  Ibushi grabs Tanga's arms for a Kamigoye.  Tanga hits a spear to Ibushi's gut.  Tanga goes for Apeshit.  Ibushi reverses and drops Tanga on his head with a tombstone.  Ibushi finally connects with a Kamigoye.

Ibushi pins Tanga Loa.

Kota Ibushi earns 2 points and the first man in A Block to reach 10 points.  

Good match.  Tanga Loa continues to excel as a single's competitor and he is showing that he is more than just a tag wrestler.   Despite the missed Poisonrana, both wrestlers told a great story in the ring.  

4 - Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Yujiro Takahashi, with Pieter

Takahashi tried to low blow ZSJ twice in the early moments.  Both times ZSJ blocked the low blows and applied a submission.  Takahashi would get a rope break each time.  Takahashi hit a dropkick.  ZSJ rolled to the floor.  ZSJ gets thrown into the guardrails.  While Pieter distracts the referee, Takahashi hits ZSJ in the face with his Pimp Stick.  ZSJ beats the count back into the ring.  Takahashi with a dropkick and back suplex.  ZSJ fights back by hyperextending Takahashi's left elbow.  ZSJ attacks the left arm with hammerlocks.   Pace picks up.  Takahashi with brainbuster.  ZSJ keeps targeting the left arm.  Takahashi with the Collegiate Slam.   Both men start throwing elbows and kicks.   ZSJ tries to lock in arm submission.  Takahashi hits Miami Shine.   Two count.   Takahashi hits Pimp Juice.  ZSJ kicks out!  Takahashi goes for Big Juice, but ZSJ rolls out and applies a hammerlock on Takahashi's left arm.   ZSJ twists his legs around Takahashi's head, while still applying the hammerlock.   Takahashi tried to wiggle out but ZSJ kept repositioning himself to the point where ZSJ trapped Takahashi's head and right arm choking him out.

Takahashi taps out.

Zack Sabre Jr. earns 2 points and joins Kota Ibushi in the lead with 10 points.

Another good match.   Zack Sabre Jr. continues to show how deadly his submissions are.  Yujiro Takahashi tried a similar strategy which worked for Tomohiro Ishii, which was hitting Zack with power moves which would keep him dazed and unable to apply a submission.  Takahashi hit all his big moves, and he could have won had he connected with Big Juice.

5 - Toru Yano vs. Shingo Takagi

Yano brought two black bags in the ring.   He told Takagi to put the bag on his head.  Takagi threw it down.  Yano put a bag on his head.  Takagi picks up the bag puts it on his head.   Yano rolls up Takagi with a schoolboy pin.   Two count.  Both men go to the floor.   Yano throws Takagi into the guardrails.  Yano sprays Takagi in the eyes with hand sanitizer.   Yano puts a bag on Takagi's head and throws him under the ring.   Yano jumps back in the ring and the referee begins the count.  Takagi makes it back to the ring by "19".  Both men take off turnbuckle pads and battle with the pads.   Takagi hits a Pumping Bomber.   He drops two elbows and a senton on Yano.   Takagi with a suplex.   Two count.  Yano tries to use his tricks to pin Takagi.  Takagi pulls Yano's shirt over his head and hits a sliding lariat.  Takagi picks up Yano and hits Last of the Dragon.

Takagi pins Yano.

Shingo Takagi earns 2 points and he is tied for second place with 8 points.  

6 - Tomohiro Ishii vs. Great O-Khan

The match starts with mat wrestling but it soon breaks down into a brawl.  Both men battle on the floor.   This was a match of power with each man exchanging moves to see who would be the last one standing.   Fifteen minutes in, O-Khan catches Ishii in a Sheep Killer.  Ishii almost passed out.  O-Khan lifts him into a TTD (Tenzan Tombstone Driver).  Ishii kicks out.  O-Khan tries for the Eliminator, but Ishii counters with a release German suplex.   O-Khan with a boot to the face.  O-Khan drops Ishii head first on the turnbuckle.  Ishii blasts O-Khan with lariat.   One count.  O-Khan with lariat and tries for another Eliminator.  Ishii gets out of the hold and crushes O-Khan with his own lariat.  Ishii gets a two count.   Ishii hits a brainbuster.

Ishii pins O-Khan.

Tomohiro Ishii earns 2 points and there is a four way tie for second place.

Great match. These two beat the heck out of each other.   Hopefully, no one truly got hurt.
