COMPLETE AEW DYNAMITE BLOG

By Cory Strode on 2021-10-06 20:08:00

It’s Wednesday, we’re at Hofstra University in Philadelphia, PA and it’s time for the nd anniversary show of AEW Dynamite.  Our commentary team is Jim Ross, Excalibur and Tony Schiavone.  And we start with everyone int he ring for the opening match.

The Young Bucks, Adam Cole, and Kenny Omega vs Jurassic Express, Christian Cage and Bryan Danielson

The match starts with Jungle Boy and the Elite going through what they normally do, lots of choreographed moves, high flying stuff and speed, and we don’t get into anything other than that until Cage takes a poorly executed Indy Taker on the ramp.  Cage is down and as the doctor is examining him, the Young Bucks super kick Marco Stunt and JB, and then mug to the camera arrogantly.

Cage is taken to the back and the match continues until we get Omega and Danielson in the ring together.  They circle each other as the crowd erupts for this.  We get about 4 minutes of a rematch until we get the obligatory sequence of everyone coming in, hitting a move, then taking a move before rolling out of the ring.

Luchasaurus gets time in the spotlight taking on the entire Elite crew and shows himself as a huge monster in  a way he hasn’t done in a while. He is so fast and so skilled, it’s always a treat when he gets to show his stuff.  The Elite make their comeback when Cole hits him with a low blow, and they TRY to put him up on Kenny’s shoulders for a power bomb, but Kenny slips and then fall, but he does it in such a way that no one gets hurt.

The story told by the announcers is that Kenny wasn’t able to handle how Big Luchasaurus is.  That rings true.

The Elite then beat down JB, and since Rick Knox is the ref, nothing stops them working in the ring without having to leave. They hit JB with a four way BTE trigger and he takes the pin.

Your Winners: The Elite

A  fast paced match marred by Everyone in the Ring without tagging in or out.  I liked the time they gave Omega and Danielson, and if they ever put Luchasaurus in solo action with other big men, we could get some fantastic Hoss Fights.  But, as always, if you’ve seen a Young Bucks, Jurassic Express match, you know what you will get.  Fast action and lots of high flying.

We come back from the commercial to a quick promo in the back with Mox explaining that the ladder match was made for him.  Really fun promo where he basically says his new baby is DRIVING HIM CRAZY.

CM Punk is out for a promo in the ring.  He asks the crowd if they are tired of this yet, and they aren’t. He talks about his time in Philadelphia when he worked in wrestling here. He talks about how he was rich back then because he had everything he wanted, and he’s so glad to be back in the wrestling community. He says to pay them back he can either wrestle for them tonight or buy them all cheesesteaks.

They chant wrestle.

He then calls out Daniel Garcia for Rampage.

He then takes off his new Jordans and gives them to a kid in the front row dressed as Orange Cassidy.

We then get a recap of the issues between Arn Anderson and Cody Rhodeas over the last week. Arn is waiting outside of Cody’s house with a fire, and he calls Cody out. He takes Cody’s suit coat and tosses it into the fire explaining that he’s letting his STUFF take precedent. He asks Cody for his tie as he keeps talking.  Cody takes back the tie and tosses it into the fire himself.

Smart move to have this as a taped segemnt to control the crowd reaction.

Smart move to have this as a taped segment to control the crowd reaction.

We then get a video package to introduce us to Bobby Fish.

Sammy Guevara (TNT Champion) vs Bobby Fish

I guess Vince is still giving AEW talent.

They start by throwing hands, and Fish is working stiff.  Announcers are focusing on Fish’s time in New Japan as this match looks to be Strong Style. Sammy is selling through the start of the match and then gets to start getting offense in on the small screen during the commercial. Fish is able to cut him off when they go outside the ring, and they are really having Sammy work from underneath through the whole match it seems.

When they are back on the big screen, Sammy gets his knees up when Fish leaps onto him. Sammy gets some more offience, but when he goes to the top. Fish is able to stop him again. Bobby misses a spin kick and Sammy is able to grab him for the GHT and a quick pin and the win.

Your winner and still TNT Champion: Sammy Guevara

Dan Lambert and his team surround the ring. They charge the ring and start a beat down. Fuego Del Sol runs to the ring and gets taken out. As they celebrate, Chris Jericho and Jake Hager run to  the ring for the save.

Lambert says to shut off the music because he’s sick of it and the crowd takes over singing it.  He says he doesn’t want to fight in this crappy mudhole of a town but challenges the Inner Circle to a six man tag.

Jericho grabs the mic and says he didn’t hear a word he said because the crowd was too loud. His mic cut out and he tosses it. He then picks up a new one and says he will beat the $#!t out of his team in Miami.

We get a rap from The Acclaimed about them fighting the Lucha Brothers on Rampage.

Back from commercial, Tony Schianvone has an announcement from Tony Khan.  Aubry is in the ring holding a belt in a black back. He puts over Philly and talks about hwo they will be moving the TBS.  He says they will have a new championship, the TBS championship in the Womens’ division. Aubry shows the new belt.

Jim Ross then has a sit down conversation with Darby Allin. JR asks about his face paint. Darby talks about how MJF talked about his uncle passing away. Darby says his uncle passing is why he paints his face, how he’s half dead inside. He faced death but he’s still here.  He then talks about how MJF isn’t going to win the war against him.

Darby Allin vs Nick Comorado

Darby dives on Nick before the bell rings and Dabry works him into the ring.  He keeps up the pace with a coffin drop off the ropes and a series of kick int he corner. Colorado is able to recover and power slam Darby as they go to the small screen.

Nick gets to beat down Darby on the small screen, and when they return to the big screen, Darby starts him comeback and hits Comorado with a coffin drop and covers for a three count and the win.

Your winner: Darby Allin

After the match, QT Marshall gets in the ring and hits Sting with a Diamond cutter and Sting pops up immediately, gives QT a kick in the yam bag and a Scorpion Death Drop.

We go to the back for some Dark Order silliness where they decide they won’t have a leader.

Back to the ring with Tony Schiavone and Dante Martin. He says he is willing to face anyone. The lights go out, and when they come back on, Malachai Black is behind him, hits him with the black mist and the spin kick knocks out Dante Martin and the lights. The lights come on and Black says The House Of Black Accepts.

We come back after the break and Ricky Starks is in the ring and puts over the FTW championship. He says he was willing to challenge Brian Cage to a Philly Street Fight, but Cage isn't here.

Cage then runs out, drops Starks and Team Taz pulls him to safety.

We then get a series of women who want to be in the TBS title tournament.

Hikaru Shida (going for her 50th win) vs Serena Deeb

The start with mat work, and when they go to the outside, Shida gets a chair to launch herself from, and Deeb counters her, moving the match back into the ring. We abruptly go to the small screen with no announcement. Deeb works Shida over on the small screen, which is a shame, since they are doing some great work in the ring.

When we are back on the big screen, they are throwing hands in the middle of the ring. They go into a series of near falls and after a running knee, Deeb goes to the floor. They come back to the ring and Deeb is able to get a dragon screw in the ropes to take over.

As Shida starts to get pins, she's not able to hook Deeb's leg to lock in the pin as Deeb as been focusing on Shida's knee. Deeb goes for the Serenity lock on the knee she has been working on, and Shida has to tap out.

Your winner: Serena Deeb.

Deeb goes outside the ring an grabs the trophy to nail Shida with it.

In the back, Alex Marvez is with Darby Allin. He says that MJF is asking for a match next week, and Darby accepts. As Darby challenges the limo, thinking MJF is in it, he is attacked by masked men. It is obviously the Pinnacle, but they leave the masks on as the leave Darby laying.

The announcers run down the card for Rampage and next week's Dynamite, which is on Saturday instead of Wednesday.

We then get another short promo from Lio Rush who offers help the Dante Martin.

Britt Baker is with Rebel and Jamie Hayter as Tony Schiavone asks her about the TBS championship. She says that now all of the jealous bitches in the back can fight among themselves for that title.

Casino Battle Royal Ladder Match, where the winner gets a title shot.

Darby is out first with the Best Friends in 76ers garb AND the 76ers mascot. Pac follows them and Pac stop the silliness and tells Darby to start wrestling, which they do. I love watching these two work against each other. Pac doesn't buy into Cassidy's slacker taunting and just goes out him full force.

Andrade is out next, and Pac is ready for him and kicks a ladder from the apron into Andrade. It's not long until they are throwing hands on a ladder. Andrade leaps over the ladder to hit a sunset flip on Pac.

Cassidy does to weak kicks on Andrade and Andrade follows with a chop and Cassidy is able to drop him.

Matt Hardy is next and Matt catches his Orange punch,. Picks up a ladder and takes everyone out. All four men are brawling in the ring as they go to the small screen. Lance Archer comes out on the small screen, carrying someone from the back. Archer is able to take everyone out and then sets up a ladder.

When we get back on the big screen, Archer has set a ladder on the ropes and ladder that has been set up with Cassidy laying on the ladder, and he drops onto him.

Archer his standing alone as Jon Moxley comes to the ring. Archer meets him in the crowd and they brawl into the crowd. Archer eventually takes him out, goes to the ring, Archer has a ladder around his neck and Cassidy attacks as does Mox. Mox is setting up ladders against the ropes as the Joker comes out.

It's Adam Page who shows to a HUGE pop from the crowd.

Page takes out Mox and then gets Archer out of the ring with a low bridge. He takes out everyone else until Pac shows with a chair and nails him in the back. Pac takes the opportunity to bring a table into the ring. Page is laid on the table next to a ladder in the corner. Andrade cuts Pac off and Pac head butts him off the ropes into a adder set up at ringside.

As this was going on, Page climbed the ladder and hits a deadeye on Pac from the top through the table. Mox comes in and hits a Paradigm shift, and as he climbs, Cassidy meets him. Hardy knocks the ladder over and sets Cassidy on a table at ringside. Hardy puts Cassidy through a table with a leg drop and it's Archer and Mox in the ring.

Archer takes out Mox and Page hits the shotgun lariat on Archer. Mox nails Page with a chair and they both climb the ladder. Mox drops off after Page rails him with blows and Page grabs the poker chip.

Your winner and getting at AEW Title shot: Adam Page
