Note: There are no spoilers in regard to match results for those of you who want to remain spoiler-free before this Thursday's Vice TV MLW special.
MLW Fightland in Philadelphia drew in the 500-600 range at the 2300 Arena last night. They will return there on 11/6 and have additional dates booked at the venue beyond that. They are also looking at several other markets, including, as we reported on 9/9, another collaborative show internationally that would not be in Mexico.
There was talk the 11/6 return would be headlined by the War Chamber match, MLW's version of Wargames.
There were several injury-related notes over the course of the night:
*Alexander Hammerstone suffered some sort of injury to his ankle during his main event against Jacob Fatu and was seen with a splint on it backstage after the show.
*Nicole Savoy was taken to the hospital via ambulance after her bout with Holidead. One source believed she had taken a rough kick to the chest. The ringside doctor did not want her moved initially and she was stretchered to the back. Dave Prazak, who was agenting her match, went with Savoy to the hospital but they had not returned by the end of the show. The word is she is believed to have suffered badly bruised or broken rib(s) but we don't have 100% confirmation on that. If and when we get confirmation, we'll update.
*TJP did not work a second scheduled bout on the taping. The belief backstage among those we spoke with is that it was some sort of knee issue and he could have gutted through it but in the end the decision was made not to have him go that route He was still physically involved in an angle later on in the show.
The former Katarina in Lucha Underground debuted on tonight's taping and will be part of the Azteca Underground programming. Backstage, she was being referred to as Karlee, so it appears that will be her on-screen name in MLW. She is once again aligned with King Muertes.
Savio Vega, Homicide, Josef Samuel, Konnan, Dave Prazak and Mike Patrick all worked as agents at the event. MLW head Court Bauer was also involved with the main event alongside Vega and Samuel. This was Homicide's first night with the company as an agent. He's worked in a similar role for the NWA in the past and obviously has been mentoring talents for decades.
Prince Nana, BLK Jeez and Leyla Hirsch were backstage at the taping.
The MLW Fightland special will air this Thursday 10/7 at 10 PM EST on Vice TV with replays on Friday 10/8 at 1 AM and 4 AM, featuring Alexander Hammerstone vs. Jacob Fatu in a title vs. title bout for the MLW Championship and the MLW National Openweight Championship as well as Myron Reed defending the Middleweight Championship against Yoshihiro Tajiri, Aramis and Arez. The special is listed at 60 minutes.
There is no MLW programming currently listed for the following week on Vice TV.
