10/1 NJPW G1 CLIMAX BLOCK B REPORT FROM SHIZUOKA, JAPAN

10/1 B Block Results from New Japan's G1 Climax 31 from Shizuoka, Japan:

Ryohei Oiwa vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru

Oiwa attacked Kanemaru at the bell hammering him with elbows.  Kanemaru dropkicked his left knee and took the advantage in the match.  

Kanemaru applies the figure four leg lock.  Oiwa taps out.

G1 Climax 31 B Block Matches:

Jeff Cobb vs. Tama Tonga, with Jado

Tama attempted to use his speed to hit and run against Cobb.  Tama tried for a Stinger Splash in the corner, but Cobb caught him and threw him across the ring with a belly to belly suplex.   Tama rolled out of the ring clutching his back.  Back in the ring, Cobb slowed the pace of the match, and hit a delayed vertical suplex.  Cobb trapped Tama in a Bearhug.  Cobb picked up Tama and ran him around the ring, slamming his back into the turnbuckles.  Tama fought back with a dropkick and a DDT.  Tama hits a bunch of strikes and a neckbreaker.  Tama is able to hit a Stinger Splash and a Death Valley Driver.    Cobb counters with running back suplex and a standing moonsault.  Two count.  Tama counters with uppercuts and goes for a Gun Stun.  Cobb pushes him off into the ropes and Cobb tries for Tour of the Islands.   Tama rolls out and hits a Tonga Twist.   Tama hits a Top Rope Splash.   Two count.  Tama goes for another Gun Stun, but Cobb blocks it.  Cobb with a German suplex.   Cobb hits Tour of the Islands. 

Cobb pins Tama Tonga.

Jeff Cobb earns 2 points, remains undefeated, and the first in B Block to reach 8 points.  

In A Block, Zack Sabre Jr. winning with his submission style of wrestling.   Similarly, in B Block, Jeff Cobb is winning with his power attack.   His opponents have yet to figure out how to overcome Cobb's power moves.

EVIL, with Dick Togo vs. Chase Owens

All three Bullet Club members give the Two Sweet Salute.   EVIL wants Owens to lay down for him.  Owens tells him "no".   EVIL gets angry and pushes Owens in the face.   Owens slaps EVIL.   EVIL attacks Owens.  Both brawl all over the ring.  EVIL and Togo double team Owens on the outside of the ring.  Owens fights back and EVIL on the defense.   EVIL escapes the ring.  Togo distracts Owens and EVIL sends him into the guardrail.   EVIL applies the Darkness Scorpion on the floor.    EVIL lets go and jumps back in the ring.   Owens is almost counted out.  EVIL hits Darkness Falls.   Owens kicks out at two.  EVIL goes for Everything is Evil but Owens avoids it.  Owens with an enzuigiri and a Bobby Eaton neckbreaker.   Owens with the Jewel Heist.   Two count.  Owens goes for the Package Piledriver but EVIL wiggles out and kicks Owens in the gut.  EVIL tries to hit Owens with his Texas Heavyweight belt, but the referee stops him.   Togo tries to interfere, but Owens dropkicks him to the floor.  Owens with a spear on EVIL.  Two count.   EVIL blocks a V-Trigger.  Owens blocks Everything is Evil.   Owens hits a high knee.  Owens goes for the Package Piledriver.   Togo distracts the referee.   EVIL with a low blow.  EVIL finally hits Everything is Evil.

EVIL pins Owens.

EVIL earns 2 points and is tied for second place with 6 points.  

All three men hit the Two Sweet Salute, which Owens reluctantly does.]

YOSHI-HASHI vs. Taichi, with Miho Abe

Taichi was trash talking YOSHI-HASHI during the ring introductions.   YOSHI-HASHI got angry and Taichi threw a right punch to the chin.   YOSHI-HASHI went down and the bell rang.   Taichi took the match to the floor and pummeled YOSHI-HASHI on the floor.  YOSHI-HASHI fought back but Taichi threw him into the ringpost.  YOSHI-HASHI's left should, which still taped up, hits the steel.  Back in the ring, Taichi traps YOSHI-HASHI in an abdominal stretch on his left arm, further attacking the left shoulder.   YOSHI-HASHI fights back with a hurricanrana and a lariat.  Taichi drops him with a thrust kick to the face.   Both men get to their feet and start throwing kicks and elbows.  Taichi with a kick to the injured shoulder and another high kick to the head.   Taichi hits another kick to the left shoulder and locks YOSHI-HASHI in the Stretch Plum.   YOSHI-HASHI fights to the ropes.   They exchange lariats.  Taichi misses an Ax Bomber, but YOSHI-HASHI hits a lariat of his own.   YOSHI-HASHI with a Kumagaroshi.   Two count.  YOSHI-HASHI goes for Kharma.   Taichi reverses out and tries for Black Mephisto.   YOSHI-HASHI reverses out and applies the Butterfly Lock.   YOSHI-HASHI transitions into a Sleeper.  Taichi reverses into a Dangerous Backdrop.  Ouch!   Two count.  YOSHI-HASHI hits a superkick.  Taichi counters with a superkick.  Taichi goes for Black Mephisto again, but YOSHI-HASHI reverses into a Destroyer.   Taichi kicks out!   Damn!  YOSHI-HASHI goes for Kharma.  Taichi gets out and kicks him in the left shoulder.  YOSHI-HASHI with a lariat.  YOSHI-HASHI finally hits Kharma.

YOSHI-HASHI pins Taichi.

YOSHI-HASHI earns his first 2 points.

Taichi was frustrated and continued to slap the head of YOSHI-HASHI after the match.  The young lions tried to help Taichi from the ring, but he threw them into the ring post.

Great match.   Both men continued their momentum from their battles for the IWGP Tag Team titles during the summer.   They knew each other well, so they could tell a good story in the ring.  If YOSHI-HASHI can continue to hit his Kharma finisher, he can win.  

 Kazuchika Okada vs. Hirooki Goto

Both CHAOS members started the match carefully, respectful of each other.  Okada took the match to the floor and hit a DDT.   Goto was clutching his neck.  Okada got him back in the ring, threw Goto with a snapmare and hit a dropkick to the head and neck.  Both men on their feet, they started exchanging elbows.  Goto hit a massive spinning lariat, which left Okada holding his neck.  Goto hit a spinning high kick in the corner and hit Okada with a Bulldog.   Two count.  Both men still holding their necks.  Goto drops Okada with a shoulder tackle and they both roll to the floor.   Okada throws Goto into the guardrail.   Goto counters with a lariat.  Goto throws Okada in the ring and hits top rope elbow.   Okada blocks an ushigaroshi, but he lifts Goto up into a neckbreaker.   Okada hits a dropkick and quickly applies the Money Clip.  Goto gets the rope break.  Okada misses a dropkick.   Goto hits a lariat and a neckbreaker.   Goto with an ushigaroshi.  Goto goes for a GTR, but Okada fights out and hits a lariat.  Okada hits a dropkick.  Okada plants Goto with a tombstone.  Okada goes for the Rainmaker, but Goto ducks, hits a reverse neckbreaker and rolls Okada up for a pin.   Two count!   Okada had to check with the referee that it was a two count.   Goto hits a reverse GTR.  Goto tries for a GTR, but Okada reverses out.  Okada backdrops Goto.  Goto tries for a sunset flip.  Okada drops down grabs Goto's legs for a pin.

Okada pins Goto.

Kazuchika Okada earns 2 points and is tied at the top of B Block with Jeff Cobb. 

Both men shake hands after the match.  

Another great match.  Again, both men told a good story in the ring, with their neck attacks, which set up both their finishing moves.   Since they knew each other so well, that they were both ready and avoided their best moves.  Okada was able to capitalize on the mistake that Goto made.  

Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. SANADA

The match started slow and easy.  Both men did not want to make the first mistake.  SANADA was able to trap Tanahashi in the Paradise Lock.   SANADA dropkicked him to release him.   Tanahashi started to look frustrated.  SANADA trapped him with his legs in a neck vice.   Tanahashi was able to get to the ropes.   SANADA started to kick and stomp on Tanahashi.  Tanahashi's frustration was boiling.   Both men started throwing elbows and uppercuts.   They traded dropkicks to each other's legs.  SANADA with Dragon screw.  Tanahashi goes to the floor.  SANADA with a plancha over the top rope.   Tanahashi gets back into the ring.  SANADA follows.  Tanahashi hits SANADA in the knee as he steps through the ropes.   Tanahashi hits two Dragon screws as SANADA is in the ropes.  Tanahashi goes for the Texas Cloverhold, but SANADA gets to the ropes.   Tanahashi with another Dragon screw.   SANADA tries for a hurricanrana but Tanahashi blocks it, with SANADA hanging upside down.   Tanahashi grabs his legs into the Texas Cloverhold.  SANADA screams in pain, but he is able to get to the ropes.   SANADA falls out to the floor.  Tanahashi hits a plancha of his own over the top rope.  Back in the ring, SANADA calls for a solo Magic Killer, but Tanahashi hits two Twist and Shouts.  SANADA is able to hold on picks up Tanahashi, drapes his feet on the top rope and hits the solo Magic Killer.  SANADA goes for a TKO but transitions into a Dragon Sleeper, preparing for Skull End.  Tanahashi reverses out of the hold.  SANADA hits a top rope dropkick, then hits a TKO.   SANADA goes for a moonsault but Tanahashi moves out of the way.  SANADA goes for Skull End again, but Tanahashi hits Twist and Shout.   Tanahashi with Slingblade.    Tanahashi hits Aces High.   Tanahashi goes for High Fly Flow but SANADA gets his knees up.   SANADA goes for moonsault but Tanahashi get his knees up.  Both men on the mat in pain.  They get to their feet and start throwing elbows.  SANADA rolls Tanahashi for a pin.   Two count.  Tanahashi with a Dragon Suplex pin.   Two count.  Tanahashi hits a High Fly Flow.

Tanahashi pins SANADA.

Hiroshi Tanahashi earns two points and it tied for second with EVIL with 6 points.

Yet again, another great match.   This B Block, with the exception of EVIL's shenanigans, continue to put out great wrestling matches in this tournament.
