IMPACT WRESTLING ON AXS TV REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2021-09-30 22:00:00

Welcome to the Impact Wrestling on AXS TV report!

After a recap of what went down last week, we see footage of Christopher Daniels entering the Impact Zone.

X-Division Championship Tournament: Alex Zayne vs. Laredo Kid vs. Trey Miguel

All three faced off at the bell.  Trey nailed a rana on Laredo and then faced off with Alex.  He nailed Trey with a rana but Laredo then nailed them with a double rana at the same time.  They all went for dropkicks at the same time and faced off.  The crowd chanted for the X-Division.

Laredo was sent to the floor.  Alex took out Trey and nailed a running shooting star press, twisting into a senton splash.  That was cool.  Laredo returned and nailed a dropkick and a head scissors, sending Alex to the outside.  Trey returned and ducked several clotheslines before hitting a rana.  Lots of fun energy so far!

Trey then hit a leaping rana over the ropes to the floor on Laredo, who was on the apron. That was awesome.  Alex nailed a springboard Asai Moonsault to them on the floor.  He tossed Trey into the ring but ate a back elbow as he charged.  Zane was able to go up and over and drilled Trey, then dropkicked Laredo out of the ring.  Everyone battled.  Trey fought off a superplex attempt and sent Laredo crashing to the floor.  Alex took him down but was locked in a Cloverleaf.  Laredo drilled him with a kick.  Laredo nailed a 450 splash onto his opponents, who were stacked atop of each other.  Alex looked like he was out on his feet after a KO.  His facial expression was awesome.  Laredo scored several near falls.

Lots of insane action.  Trey went for a springboard into an armdrag but Laredo came off and caught him with a rana.  Trey battled back with a step up powerbomb.  Lots of big moves in an explosive package.  Laredo hit a springboard into a cutter for another two count.

Kid went for a move but was turned into a powerslam by Zane.  Trey dispatched Alex and nailed a leaping double knee strike off the top on Laredo for the pin.

Your winner, Trey Miguel!

Miguel advances in the tournament.

This was, by far, one of the match and most enjoyable opening matches on Impact TV in some time.  All three absolutely killed it here but this may have been the best showing Laredo Kid has had to date, and that's even with his great stuff with John Skyler a few weeks ago.  Trey's intensity and timing was great and Zayne came in like he was trying to prove he was the best person in the ring on the broadcast.  Absolute thumbs up stuff here.

During the bout, they showed Drama King Matt watching on a monitor and wondered if he was scouting Laredo.  Matt did a promo backstage challenging Laredo to showcase his art in the ring against Matt.

They showed footage from "earlier today" of Sami Callihan being attended to by legitimate EMTs after being attacked by Moose and W. Morrisey earlier on.  The attack will be the cover as to the Callihan injury, which actually took place when Callihan went for a suicide dive in a match.  Callihan looked devastated.  They showed footage of him being transported by stretcher to the ambulance.  They showed the ambulance pulling away.

Moose has been banned from ringside.  Eddie Edwards cut a promo and said Sami and he knew what they were getting into.  Sami will be fine but W. Morrisey has no idea what he's gotten himself into.  He's been coddled his entire career and now he's in the land of misfit toys and Eddie is the biggest misfit of them all.  He said that tonight, this ends once and for all and then Eddie is coming for Moose next.

The Influence with Kaleb with a K vs. Jordynn Grace & Rachael Ellering - Winners earn Knockouts Tag Team Championship match.

Ellering and Dashwood started with Ellering using her speed to control her opponent in the early minutes.  Ellering worked over Dashwood's arm but was faked out while rebounding off the ropes and pulled to the floor.  Jordynne Grace went to assist her but was attacked from behind by Rayne as they went to commercial.

When they returned, Dashwood was being double-teamed in the corner by Grace and Ellering.  They showed that during the break, Grace reversed a whip into the barrier.  Grace and Ellering nailed several offensive maneuvers, scoring near falls.    Grace nailed Rayne with a big spinebusgter for a two count.  Ellering tagged back in and whipped Rayne into the corner.  They double teamed her, setting up Grace going for a Vader Bomb for a two count when Kaleb put her foot across the ropes.

Ellering tagged in and nailed several suplexes but Dashwood interfered.    Grace got involved with Kaleb on the floor, leaving the door open for The Influence to double-team Ellering and score the pin.

Your winners, The Influence, who will go on to challenge Decay at The Knockouts Knockdown PPV.

Christopher Daniels was asked by Gia Miller why he was back.  He said he heard all about the Forbidden Door but then decided you don't need to knock on the door when you built the house.  He came to teach the gospel to teach Madman Fulton.  Josh Alexander and Christian Cage thanked Daniels for the help but Cage said that if Alexander had his eyes on the ball last week, they wouldn't have needed his help.  Daniels said he was here for his own agenda and walked off.  Cage told Alexander he helped him last week because he didn't want there to be any excuses when they face off at Bound for Glory.

They aired a How To Be A Professional Wrestler with Brian Myers putting his lackeys through training torture.

Others in the group were upset Myers was playing favorites with VSK.  Myers admitted that was such because VSK was so far above the rest of them.  Myers and VSK walked off and Beale turned on the others, playing up that they were responsible.

We then went to a vignette where The Good Brothers were relaxing on vacation.   They challenged FinJuice and Bullet Club to face each other with the winners getting a shot at their Tag Team titles at Bound for Glory.

They had a vignette where Deonna Purrazzo came to Mickie James' farm to confront her.  She attacked Mickie in a barn and they brawled.  Deonna nailed her with a bucket and overturned a wheel barrow on her.  She went to leave but Mickie tackled her and began beating on her, screaming about Deonna coming to her house.  Deonna got the better of her and began stomping James on the ground.  She grabbed a rake and smashed it across James' head.  James made a comeback and drilled Purrazzo across the head with a rider's helmet.  She dragged Deonna outside and went to hit her with a plastic barrel but was kicked in the mid-section.  Purrazzo used a rope to try and strangle James but was sprayed in the eyed with a water hose.  James grabbed the barrel and hit Mickie.  They brawled with Purrazzo dunking her in a bucket.  Someone screamed and Purrazzo let her go and told James she would never, ever beat her.  Fun brawl.

Finjuice did a promo backstage, noting they were outnumbered by Bullet Club yet again.  It's the numbers game every time, but they have their +1 in Chris Sabin.  He said he hates them too and said they were going to beat the Bullet Club next week.

Madman Fulton vs. Christopher Daniels

Daniels used his speed early to avoid Fulton's size but that strategy didn't last long as he was shoulderblocked down and held aloft for a delayed vertical suplex for a long time.  Daniels came back with an enziguri and nailed a series of strikes.  Daniels was sent into the corner but avoided a Fulton big boot.  Fulton went over the top to the floor.  Daniels nailed an Arabian Press off the ropes.  He sent Fulton back into the ring and nailed an elbow into the ring for a two count.  Daniels rained down with right hands but was shoved off.

Fulton charged with a big boot and nailed a splash for a two count.  Fulton pulled Daniels over to the corner and pulled him off his feet while applying a sleeper.  He dropped Daniels down and drilled him, but Daniels kicked up.  Fulton questioned the referee as to how.  He sent Daniels into the ropes for a move but it was reversed into a jumping DDT.

Daniels made a comeback with a series of forearms.  Daniels drilled him with a kick to the chin and nailed a leaping rana off the ropes.  Daniels drilled him with a STO variation but again Fulton kicked up.    Fulton made a comeback and left Daniels near the apron, where Austin attacked him as the referee was distracted.  Josh Alexander hit the scene and attacked Austin.  Back in the ring, Daniels nailed Angel's Wings but Fulton kicked up at the one count.  Daniels and Fulton battled back and forth.  Daniels nailed a lariat and scored the pin with the BME.

Your winner, Christopher Daniels!

Scott D'Amore arrived at Swinger's Palace.  Swinger wanted him to not take the PPV to Las Vegas so Swinger can keep his casino.  Scott said that's a pretty one-sided deal.  Swingers said they'll have to just move to Vegas and put everyone else out of business.  Scott asked him if he had a gaming license for Nevada and Swinger said he doesn't, so Scott said he has no choice but to shut down the casino.  Swinger was gobsmacked.

Ace Austin and Madman Fulton went to Scott D'Amore's office.  He complained the inmates are running the asylum and getting involved.  Scott said he has his word they will get resolution.  He gave his word last week to Christian Cage and Cage is now medically cleared.  They can all settle it next week wrestling Josh Alexander and Cage.  Austin said that will do.

Violent by Design came to the ring for Rhino's answer.  Eric Young said they had all the power and control but Rhino let the sickness back in and take control of him.  Rhino knows he made a mistake and forced their hand.  He had to be left lying so he could face the truth and be his purest form.  Now, Rhino has a decision to make.  Rhino came out and the fans chanted for a Gore.  Young told him his voice is the only thing that matters and not to listen to the fans.  He wanted to know if Rhino was going to do the right thing.  He demanded Rhino make his decision but before he could, out came the returning Heath Miller.  He drilled Deaner.  He cleaned house but Rhino just stood there with no clear answer as to what side he was on.    Rhino walked out and left through the crowd, not making his alliances clear.

There will be an Impact Digital Media tournament kicking off on 10/5 on Impact+, I guess, in honor of Mike Epsenhart's birthday!  Impact will hold tournament matches on Tuesday and Wednesdays.    The tournament will end at Bound for Glory.  Next week will be John Skyler vs. Zicky Dice and Hernandez vs. Crazzy Steve.

Heath will return next week.  Black Taurus vs. Petey Williams vs. Maclin is next week's X-Division tournament match.

Eddie Edwards vs. W. Morrisey- Street Fight with Moose banned.

They started brawling at the bell.  Morrisey nailed a big boot as Edwards rebounded off the ropes.  They went to the floor.  Edwards drilled him with a trash can lid but was kicked and sent back into the ring.  Morrisey grabbed a trash can and under pieces of plunder.  Fans chanted ECW.  How about we save that for those who actually worked for the company, or just stop that chant altogether?  Morrisey charged Edwards but Eddie dropped down and pulled the ropes.  Morrisey went over the top to the floor.  Edwards went for a dive but was smashed hard in the face with a weapon.

Morrisey charged and Eddie dropped down again.  Morrisey went to the floor but this time, Eddie nailed him with a suicide dive.  Eddie grabbed a title belt replica from a fan and nailed Morrisey with it.  The crowd chanted TNA. Edwards pulled out a table.   Morrisey cut him off and turned the steel steps sideways, then smashed Eddie into them several times.

He went for a brainbuster on the stairs but Eddie stopped it and used a drop toehold to smash him into the stairs.  After a commercial, Morrisey continued beating the heck out of Edwards, including a chokeslam on the steps and some plunder shots.  Morrisey set up a table in the corner.  He splashed Edwards in the corner.  Eddie was smashed in the head over and over with a trash can lid.  Eddie fired back and now he used the trash can lid.  He nailed a Blue Thunder Bomb on Morrisey, smashing him down across a trash can.  That was a cool visual.

Edwards retrieved a barbed wire chair from under the ring.  Morrisey was cut off and beaten again and again by Morrisey.  Edwards placed him atop the ropes with open chairs beneath them.  Morrisey nailed him with a cookie sheet.  He went for a superplex but Alesha Edwards hit the ring and caned the hell out of his back.  Edwards powerbombed him through the chairs but Morrisey kicked up at ONE.  Edwards fired away with cane shots to the legs and then the back.  He cracked him across the temple.  He was going to go for the Boston Knee Party but Alesha stopped him and held the barbed wire chair to Morrisey's face.  Eddie connected with the knee and scored the pin.

Your winner, Eddie Edwards!

The Edwards embraced but Moose attacked Eddie.  Alesha jumped on his back but was thrown off.  Moose powerbombed Eddie through the table in the corner. Morrisey and Moose grabbed Alesha and forced her to watch as Moose drive Edwards into the ring post with a chair wrapped around his neck and then beat him over and over with chairshots.  Alesha was let go and covered Eddie, trying to protect him as they went off the air...

Pretty hard hitting brawl.  The angle at the end was really good.
