HOW TO BET ON WRESTLING

By Kendall Jenkins on 2021-09-29 11:57:00

Wrestling isn’t a sport that many consider to be associated widely with betting. After all (children cover your ears), the fights aren’t technically real with the outcome being determined before they have even begun. As the WWE name suggests, it’s an entertainment sport and one that is followed by millions around the world.

Although WWE may be somewhat scripted, some bookmakers do take bets on it. This guide will explain how to bet on wrestling along with some of the most common betting markets that you can expect to find available with the top online bookmakers.

Why Bet On Wresting?

As mentioned, wrestling is a hugely entertaining sport. The persona’s of the wrestlers are intriguing and each one has a story to tell, in and out of the ring. Betting on the sport can make it even more enjoyable to watch whether you’re in a stadium watching WrestleMania live or at home viewing on television.

Wrestling Betting Markets

Many bookmakers limit the amount that you can bet on wrestling matches. As the outcome isn’t based on skill or other factors that come into play with sports such as football, tennis or horse racing, they want to limit their risk in case anyone betting has inside information as to which wrestler will win. This can be seen as an advantage as it also limits your risk ensuring that large amounts cannot be lost with a single bookie.

For bookies that do take bets on wrestling, the following betting markets are commonly available:

Match Winner

This is the most popular betting market in wrestling and requires you to predict the wrestler who you think will win. The Match Winner market can be available for both events that feature just two wrestlers (one on one) or multiple wrestlers. Your bet will be settled as a winner regardless of how your fighter wins such as if they win by submission, count-out, disqualification or other.

Next Champion

With the ‘Next Champion’ betting market, you are betting on who you think will be the next title holder. For example, Roman Reigns is the current WWE Universal Champion and you can bet on who will claim it after him.

There is also a similar betting market to this where you can bet on a certain wrestler to hold a title by a certain date.

Longest Time In The Ring

As the name suggests, you are betting on the wrestler who will spend the most time in the ring. A fun bet that can make watching WWE all the more exciting.

First To Appear

This is more of a novelty bet but it can be a fun one to have a wager on. You are simply betting on which wrestler will enter the ring first. There’s no need to predict a winner and there is no skill involved in your selection.

Elimination Time (Over/Under)

You can also bet on how long a certain wrestler will last in the ring. This is usually an Over/Under betting market which means that you’ll be betting on Over a certain number of minutes or Under.

Which Bookmakers Can You Bet On WWE With?

Surprisingly, several of the top online bookies accept bets on wrestling and WWE. Some are better than others in various ways with some offering better odds, more betting markets and the occasional WWE betting offers such as free bets or money-back promotions.

Some of the most popular bookmakers that take bets on WWE include:

  • SkyBet

  • Betfair

  • Unibet

  • Betfred

  • 888Sport

  • Boylesports
