Every Saturday night, there are typically UFC events. Some are bigger than others, with championship fights featuring the biggest names in the sport. Regardless, UFC generates a ton of bettor action. Track Fighter’s Recent Performances 

UFC is a sport where fighter hype reaches fever pitches and can sometimes overtake more important factors. A perfect example of this is Conor McGregor. A wildly popular, globally-known celebrity, McGregor is the epitome of hype in the UFC. Most recently, he has had surprisingly strong odds in his fights against current start Dustin Poirier. They fought in back-to-back fights in 2020 and 2021, both of which McGregor lost. McGregor was favourited in the first fight. 

If you had looked at recent performances, you would see that McGregor hadn’t fought in the UFC, aside from a tune-up against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, in years. While McGregor had been busy starting a whiskey brand, Poirier had been in the ring, fighting and winning. This is the perfect example of why it is essential to look at how fighters have been performing in their most recent events. 

Learn About Fighter’s Styles 

In the UFC, every fighter has a different style. There are stand-up fighters who prefer to throw heavy punches and kicks rather than grapple. There are grapplers like Khabib Nurmagomedov who’d rather wrestle opponents into chokeholds and make them tap. Every fighter has a unique way of imposing their will upon their opposition, and learning more about the fighters you intend to bet on is a ticket to success. 

There is a ton of information out there on every fighter, so research them as much as possible. Unlike the NFL or NHL, where your betting research requires you to get information on entire teams, UFC betting only requires you to find details on two different people. Learning how fighters stylistically match up against each other will provide you with some useful information you can use while making bets. If there is a fighter who has shown weakness going against fighters with a strong kicking game, and they're matched up against the best kicker in the division, chances are they may have some problems. Knowing these things will help you choose the right fighter. 

Find the Right Underdogs 

Just like every other sport, betting on the underdog yields a higher payout. Now, that doesn't mean you should get caught up in only betting on fighters that have low odds, as that is a great way to start losing money. Gane promptly knocked out Lewis. Gane is an example of oversight by oddsmakers. Finding the right underdog can yield huge results, and UFC oddsmakers are far from perfect in the lines they set up. 

Parlay Heavy Favourites 

This is a strategy useful for all forms of betting. If you’re looking to bet on a heavy favourite, consider parlaying that with another bet to yield a heavier payout. Heavy favourites have very low payouts, but sometimes it is still fun to bet on them. If you’re considering throwing down a bet on a major favourite, consider parlaying that bet with another. Even if it is a parlay on another heavy favourite, your odds will greatly increase, and the bet will have a significantly higher payout.
