WHO WILL WIN AT EXTREME RULES - THE TIP SHEET IS NOW ONLINE

By Dave Scherer, Mike Johnson and Richard Trionfo on 2021-09-25 10:49:00

WWE will present Extreme Rules on Sunday night from Columbus, Ohio, live in the US on Peacock.  Here is our take on what will happen in the matches.

Universal Champion Roman Reigns vs The Demon

Mike: This should be the best thing on the show from the men.  I would like to see them switch things up for a bit where Roman, for once, isn't the person controlling the flow and talks all the trash.  Instead, let him be the one pinballing all over because the Demon is too powerful for him and then towards the end, Paul Heyman or the Usos can interfere and that's when we get the Roman show.  I expect Roman to win but given the proximity to Crown Jewel, I wouldn't be shocked to see a Brock cameo here as well.

Richard:  The quality of this match will be fully dependent on the Monologue to Action ratio.  The lower the ratio, the better the match.  They mentioned that the Demon is undefeated but will this be the night that the 1972 Miami Dolphins can pop the champagne?  Since they will be wrestling earlier in the show, I hope the Usos don't get involved in this match and this turns out to be a one-on-one match instead of a tribute to 2004 to 2006 Jeff Jarrett TNA title defenses with so much interference.   This will be the night that history is made, but not what people might be hoping for in Columbus.  Finn Balor will lose his first match as the Demon, but he will put in the fight of his life to try to win.

Dave: The Demon always win but I don't see that being the case tonight.  I love Finn and all but he is not the guy I see taking the belt off of Reigns, especially looming for the match in "Happy" Saudi Arabia.

Smackdown Women's Champion Becky Lynch vs Bianca Belair

Mike: If they do 30 seconds again, they have lost their minds.  Bianca needs to go out full of piss and vinegar and all the other cliches and be on the attack.  If they just lock up and grapple, they will have lost the plot.  Becky made her look like a fool into her homecoming so now Bianca really needs to be angry and kick her ass.  That said, I don't see a title change here and while it's usually a crappy finish, I'd like to see them go with the story that Bianca, so enraged, gets herself DQ'd because she wants to hurt Lynch so bad.  Then, she can beat and chase Becky out of the building all the way to a car that Becky escapes in.  This needs to be where they heat things up, not blow them off.

Richard:  I have a feeling this will be slightly longer than their last match.  Bianca will be pissed that she was embarrassed by Becky in Vegas, and in Knoxville, and almost everywhere else since SummerSlam.  However, if you go by the Inverse Transitive Go Home Show Theory, Bianca is losing because she was standing tall at the end of their segment.  However, with the variable of a later promo from Becky, does that invalidate the theory and we are going to see a new champion?

Dave: I have hated everything about Becky's return, everything.  I am not looking forward to this at all.  They punked Bianca at SummerSlam and she should get the win here, but knowing how Vince loves to not create new stars and rely on older wrestlers, I see Becky retaining, probably in a finish that will make us all want to throw a brick at whatever device we are watching on.

Raw Women's Champion Charlotte Flair vs Alexa Bliss

Mike: No title change here.  Let's hope more wrestling, less Lilly.

Richard:  This is a typical WWE pay per view match where the talking segments are what do not want me to watch this match.  Alexa has had few matches recently but because she came out with her doll, she gets a title match?  I don't see Alexa winning the title because Charlotte vs Becky at Survivor Series is not a match they want to lose.  If there is no supernatural stuff with Lilly or Charley, why have this match?  Who is the next challenger for Charlotte?

Dave: I am truly glad that Alexa enjoys playing her new character.  And less bumps are a good thing.  But as a grown ass man, I don't enjoy it at all and I am not looking forward to this at all.

Smackdown Tag Team Champions The Usos vs Street Profits

Mike: The Usos are going to retain, no matter who they are in with.  Angelo not being  on Smackdown makes you wonder if there's going to be a last minute switch, but we will see.

Richard:  WIth the Montez Ford 'injury' and the presence of Alpha Academy in the back to breathe heavily with the Usos, does this mean that we are getting a substitution in the match?  Angelo Dawkins wasn't on Smackdown either.  Regardless of who the Usos are going to face, it should be a good match but if it is Alpha, it is a new coat of paint.  If it is going to be the Street Profits, I think the Usos keep the titles to keep the family strong (other than family through marriage member Naomi).  While there are some similarities between the Street Profits and Alpha Academy, Gable is a superior wrestler so if they are added to the match, I could see them pulling off the upset and winning.  It makes more sense than the Becky surprise win at SummerSlam.

Dave: I don't see any way that they take the Titles off of The Usos right now.

United States Champion Damian Priest vs Sheamus vs Jeff Hardy

Mike: It's so weird to think of Jeff Hardy as the third wheel here, but given how terrible he has been used for months and months only to suddenly be shoved into this bout, I have to think he's there to eat the Brogue Kick and get pinned, so Sheamus wins and Damian has to chase him to get the belt back.

Richard:  This should be a very good match but did they add Jeff Hardy to this because they need someone to take the pin instead of Sheamus or Priest?  I did not like how Priest sat there on Monday and said that he would be happy to have Jeff in the match.  Even though there is no 'champion's advantage' because it is EXTREME RULES, why add someone to the match to steal a pin from you? (I would love to see ONE PERSON interfere to get the person trying to get into the match disqualified to keep them out of the match.  However the 'authority figure' would probably still add them to the match).  Hardy will do a good job taking the offense from both men.  I think Priest retains but I don't want it to be from the typical triple threat finish.

Dave: Priest should retain.  It will probably ends up that Sheamus lays Hardy out and Priest steals the pin, because that is how Vince books.  Sadly.

Liv Morgan vs Carmella

Mike: It's pretty obvious there's been no long term plan for this as they are all over the place week by week.  To me, the best result is Liv getting the pinfall here and then looking to take out Zelina as well.

Richard:  If you are going to build up a pay per view match and have one of these two people wrestling on the go home show and it is the face in the match, why do you have them lose in a very short match?  I am glad these two women are on the pay per view, but look at the roster to see who is not on this pay per view.  I expect to see Zelina Vega involved in this match since 'anything goes'.  It would only make sense for this match to end in a DQ when there are none.  Liv should win, but that means that Carmella will win.  The next step for both women?  Who knows . . . probably not creative.

Dave: Wow, this match is perfectly representative of how this PPV is only happening because WWE has to do a PPV.  Liv wins because if she doesn't, what was the point of it?  Boy, I can't wait until tomorrow to watch this show.
