New Japan Pro Wrestling held its third G1 Climax 31 show today in Ota Ward General Gymnasium.

The full results were:
• Tanga Loa def. Yuji Nagata

• A block: KENTA def. Yujiro Takahashi
• A block: Kota Ibushi def. Tomohiro Ishii
• A block: Zack Sabre Jr. def. Shingo Takagi

Zack Sabre Jr. made a not-so-subtle nod to Bryan Danielson backstage, after Danielson said he would like to face Sabre Jr. in England in an interview with Barstool Wrasslin’ yesterday.

Sabre Jr. asked: “That’s the Japanese dragon done, I wonder where the American dragon is?”

Daisuke Sekimoto challenged Takuya Nomura for the BJW World Strong Heavyweight Championship after the fourth match. It is worth remembering Big Japan has already announced the BJW World Strong Heavyweight Championship will be defended at its show on October 18 in Korakuen Hall, and that Sekimoto is scheduled to challenge All Japan Pro Wrestling’s Shuji Ishikawa for the GAORA TV Championship at All Japan’s show on October 9 in Kitamoto.

Kota Sekifuda made his first successful defense of the BJW Junior Heavyweight Championship against Tatsuhiko Yoshino.

Drew Parker made his first successful defense of Game Changer Wrestling’s GCW Ultraviolent Championship against Yuki Ishikawa. He will attempt his second defense of the title against Akira Hyodo at Big Japan’s show on October 9 in Korakuen Hall.

Big Japan will hold a show tomorrow in Shin-Kiba 1st Ring. The full card is:

Kzy will make his in-ring return at Dragon Gate’s show on October 16 in Kobe Sambo Hall. He last wrestled on August 15 and has been out of action due to surgery to replace a metal plate in his right ankle.

Kagetora, U-T and Yosuke Santa Maria all challenged SB KENTo for the Open the Brave Gate Championship. Dragon Gate will hold a  Royal Sambo Battle Royal on October 16 and the winner will challenge KENTo for the title at Dragon Gate’s show on October 17 in Kobe Sambo Hall.

Dia Infero, Diamante, Eita, Kaito Ishida and KENTo will face Dragon Dia, Jason Lee, Kota Minoura and Shun Skywalker in a five-match series (five consecutive singles matches) at Dragon Gate’s show on October 7 in Korakuen Hall.

DDT Pro-Wrestling

DDT Pro-Wrestling held a show today in Sapporo.

The full results were:

Yuji Hino and Yukio Sakaguchi missed today’s show due to injury.

Hino injured his right ankle and knee at DDT’s show yesterday in Sapporo, while Sakaguchi was ruled out due to lumbar spinal stenosis.
