Orange Cassidy and The Acclaimed's Anthony Bowens appeared this afternoon on the MLB Network's MLB Central to promote tomorrow's AEW Grand Slam Dynamite event in New York City at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
They noted that the show was expected to bring in 18,000 fans. Bowens said coming back to the show (where he used to work behind the scenes) gave him chills and it's great.
They stated Cassidy was wrestling's favorite slacker and was asked how he came up with the gimmick. Cassidy said, "Yeah, you know. Here I am."
They noted AEW has momentum right now and asked the talent how you continue that and get to the next step. Bowens said they have changed the game in terms of fan interaction and the company is on fire and they have to continue that.
They showed footage of Anthony Bowens as a baseball player before wrestling. He said he was a five-tool player then and now and worked for the MLB Network while chasing his dream. He said that he left baseball to pursue pro wrestling
Cassidy was asked about wrestling Sting. He said Sting is the best and the only way he could fight him was to kick him in the shins.
It was noted the AEW roster is all of the spectrum and asked how that helps. Bowens said they have the most diverse locker room with tons of representation, noting he and Sonny Kiss, among others, are both repping the LBGTQ+ community. Bowens was asked about the success of his favorite team The San Francisco Giants this year and compared them to AEW in terms of heart.
Orange Cassidy came to the realization he was on a baseball show.
Bowens promised tomorrow's show is going to be the greatest show they've ever seen.
