TEN MAN TAG AND MORE: IMPACT WRESTLING ON AXS TV REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2021-09-16 22:00:00

This week's Impact Wrestling featured everything lead up to tonight's ten man tag main event.

Decay vs. Violent by Design's Rhino and Deaner.

Rhino had control early, drilling Black Taurus with clubbing blows to the back.  He tagged out to Deaner, who maintained the control.  Deaner went to whip him into the corner but it was reversed.  Taurus drilled him with some chops and and tagged out to Crazzy Steve.  Violent by Design gained control and on Steve and tagged in and out, working him over.  Deaner bit Steve's hand but Steve fought back with several jabs.   Steve maintained control until Rhino shoved him off the ropes.  Steve shocked Rhino out of nowhere with a DDT and scored the pin.

Your winners, Decay!

Eric Young had words with Rhino after the bout, angry that he had once again lost.  Young complained he didn't keep his eye on the ball like he was told to do.  Rhino began arguing back but Young shot him down.  Young turned his back on Rhino but Rhino grabbed his arm.  Deaner blindsided him and Deaner and Joe Doering stomped him.  Young broke the Violent by Design's flagpole over Rhino's neck and back.

To me, this felt really premature as a turn for Rhino but we will see what comes of it.    I personally thought the act was great as it was.  We will see how the story develops.

At Swinger's Palace, Alesha Edwards wanted to know how Johnny Swinger was going to deal with Las Vegas hosting Bound for Glory since it will be competition for his illegal casino.  Swinger said he was going to talk to "Old Man Jarrett" but John E. Bravo said he doesn't run the company anymore.  Swinger then asked if Watts' kid did.  Then Dixie.  Then the Harris Boys.  Swinger was shocked that the parking guy from Team Canada was now running the show.  TJP came to collect his winnings on betting that Petey Williams would lose last week.  Williams showed up and said they had an agreement they would stay out of each others' business but then he distracted Williams with the Conga Line.  TJP said he was just close to the business, not in it.  TJP said he was going to kick his ass tonight.

Gia Miller interviewed Team Christian Cage.  Josh Alexander and Chris Sabin agreed they are going to be friends tonight and after that they are back to competing.  Cage said they are the five best wrestlers in Impact and that's why he sought them out.  He said Ace Austin reminds him of a younger him but he doesnt think Ace can brandish the brash attitude the way Christian did.

TJP vs. Petey Williams

They had some nice back and forth wrestling and reversals early.  TJP went for the Octopus but Williams grabbed the ropes and broke the hold.  Williams grabbed a head scissors but TJP escaped.  He was sent into the ropes but held on.  Williams went sent to the outside but returned to the ring with a Codebreaker. Williams nailed a dive to the outside.  He drilled Russian legsweep coming out of a tiltowhirl.

After a commercial, Williams had TJP cinched in a side chinlock.  Williams worked him over in the corner and tied TJP to the tree of woe.  TJP shocked him with a tornado DDT but was too spent to immediately capitalize.

TJP nailed a springboard dropkick off the ropes and set up for the Bootwash, drilling Williams with it.   TJP went to the top for a swanton but Williams escaped.  Petey went for a Canadian Destroyer but TJP escaped, only to be snatched into a Sharpshooter.  TJP escaped the Detonation kick and used a La Magistral, trapping TJP for the pin.

Your winner, Petey Williams.

They nodded at each other with respect.  Steve Maclin hit the ring and nailed TJP, then assaulted Williams, drilling him in the corner.  He tossed TJP back into the ring and smashed him with a lariat.  Maclin left them laying and walked off.

Gia Miller interviewed The Good Brothers backstage.  They blew off the idea that Gallows had to help Karl Anderson get a win over Rich Swann in last week's Bunkhouse Match.  They scoffed and said Swann had a partner, but he's probably still in the hospital.  They went to walk off and encountered Willie Mack on crutches.  Mack said he's about to beat their asses and revealed he was fine and Swann was with him on the other side of the door.  They went to attack with the crutches but security broke them apart and The Good Brothers escaped.  After a commercial break, Mack said he was good to go but The Good Brothers put him in the hospital and took food off his plate.  Swann and Mack want to do something worse, take the titles.  Scott D'Amore offered them a title match at Victory Road this Saturday.

John Skyler vs. Laredo Kid

This is a rematch from last week's BTI, which was great.

Skyler cut a really good promo, saying Laredo Kid got lucky beating the man who beat Matt Cardona and now he's going to take it out on him.

Skyler went to nail him but Laredo ducked.  He nailed a crossbody off the ropes and nailed a leaping neckbreaker.  Skyler rolled to the floor with Laredo nailing a dive.  He tossed Skyler in and nailed a springboard splash off the ropes for a two count.

Laredo missed a sliding kick and was caught with an overhead belly to belly suplex on the floor.  Kid was whipped into the corner and nailed a backbreaker over the knee for a two count.  The battle continued until they wiped each other out with a double clothesline.  The fans chanted for Laredo as they fought to their feet and exchanged forearms and strikes.  They continued until Skyler stole the pinfall by twisting his mask around, then rolling him up and hooking the tights.

Your winner, John Skyler!

This wasn't as good as the bout on BTI but they had far less time to tell a story in the ring.

Taylor Wilde was the guest on Tenille Dashwood's All About Me.  Madison Rayne and Kaleb were with Dashwood.  Taylor brought Jordynne Grace and Rachael Ellering with her so Dashwood tried to end the show immediately.  Since they had her cornered, Taylor challenged Dashwood to face her one on one at the Victory Road PPV without her allies.  Dashwood had no choice but to agree.  That match has been added to the PPV.

They showed footage from earlier today where Matt Cardona attacked Rohit Raju and Shera as they entered the building.

Gia Miller went to Scott D'Amore for comments about the situation.  Cardona showed up and demanded a match at Victory Road against Rohit Raju.  D'Amore told him he has to keep his hands off of Raju until then and then they'll face off in a No DQ match.

Drama King Matt Rehowoldt vs. Trey Miguel

They locked up and muscled each other around the ring.  Trey was backed into the corner and climbed up to gain momentum.  He used a springboard off the ropes to flip Matt but was struck with a leaping kick to the face.

Matt worked over Trey and clotheslined him over the top to the floor.  He followed Trey outside.  The story thus far has been that Trey's moves have all been countered by Matt.  Trey tried to use the ropes to hit a springboard but was yanked off the ropes.  Matt continued to work over Trey, scoring several two counts.  Trey was drilled hard into the corner with a whip and crashed to the mat.  He pulled himself up as Matt set up to drill him with a running back elbow.

Matt drilled him with several elbows to the face and neck, scoring a two count.  Miguel's facial expressions as he was worked over were great.  Trey finally escaped a charge and drilled Matt with a springboard missile dropkick.  Trey went for the Scorpion Kick, then used a spinning pinfall attempt for a near fall.  Trey went for a Hollywood Star Press but missed.  He went for a flying bodypress but caught and nailed with a powerbomb out of a DVDR position for a near fall.

Matt went to the top but was rocked with a kick to the head.  Trey set up for a superplex.  They battled.  Rehwodlt nailed a swanton but missed.  Trey locked in a leglock and Matt tapped.

Your winner, Trey Miguel!

A good, heartfelt victory that Trey had to earn.

Deonna Purrazzo hit the ring and attacked Trey, putting the boots to him.  Mickie James hit the ring and began brawling with Purrazzo.  Mickie nailed the Lou Thesz Press.  They brawled as security tried to pull them apart.  Purrazzo and Matt were on the floor with security, so Mickie hit a dive to the floor on everyone involved.  The crowd chanted for Mickie.

They showed footage of Tasha Steelz and Savannah Evans stealing the Knockouts Tag Team title belts last week.  They cut a promo, holding the titles, questioning that Decay believed they were the champs.  Decay stole the titles from her at the last PPV and now she's taken them back.  If Decay wants to take the titles from them, they can come correct this Saturday at Victory Road.

They recapped last week's debut of Hikuleo.

Chris Bey and Hikuleo cut a backstage promo.  Bey said they are going to have to put FinJuice down for good this Saturday.  Bey said he's not rolling alone in Impact anymore.

Ace Austin & Madman Fulton & Brian Myers & Moose & W. Morrisey vs. Impact Wrestling Champion Christian Cage & X-Division Champion Josh Alexander & Chris Sabin & Sami Callihan & Eddie Edwards.

Callihan and Austin started out with Sami stomping away at him in the corner.  Josh Alexander tagged in and drilled him with a back elbow.  Edwards tagged in and nailed Austin with a series of chops.  Callihan tags out and double-teamed Austin with Edwards.  Everyone began hitting the ring and they all faced off as they went to commercial.  When they returned, everyone was brawling all over the ring and around ringside.

In the chaos, Sam Beale ended up in the ring with Callihan, who nailed a piledriver.  That allowed Myers to attack Sami.  Fulton nailed a chokeslam and throttled Sami into the corner.  Callihan fired back with a bulldog.  Alexander tagged himself in after Sabin had just tagged in.  He nailed a German suplex on Fulton.  Sabin tagged himself back in and battled back and forth with Austin.  Cage tagged in but Austin backed off and tagged out to Fulton.

Cage and Fulton battled back and forth.    Edwards tagged in and was caught in Team Austin's corner.  Edwards and Moose battled.  Edwards nailed a series of suplexes.  Moose dropkicked Edwards off the top, sending him crashing to the floor as they went back to commercial.

Back after the break, Myers was working over Edwards, scoring several near falls.  Edwards went for a sunset flip but Fulton tagged in and worked over Edwards.    Eddie was caught and worked over for sometime by Team Austin as they all tagged in and out.  Edwards tried to make a tag but was cut off by Fulton.

Cage finally made the hot tag and everyone battled.  They went into a super fast series of signature maneuvered.  Ace kicked Cage low but was kicked on the top when he went to the top.  Edwards superplexed him off the top onto everyone battling on the floor.

Myers went for the Roster Cut but Cage escaped and speared him.  Alexander nailed the C4 Spike and scored the pin.

Your winners, Team Cage!

A really damn good main event.  The finish saw Alexander steal the pin from Cage, so that appears to be the direction as they head towards Bound for Glory.  A really enjoyable few hours.
