COMPLETE AEW ALL OUT 2021 BLOG

By Cory Strode on 2021-09-05 19:55:00

The Buy In shows the videos from the Friday night TNT special, and like the TNT special, this PPV is being sold on CM Punk returning to the ring. There are a lot of other matches, and I am excited about this show, but there is a LOT of CM punk on these video packages.

When the live pre-show starts, Excalibur and Tony Schiavone are our announcers.

The Hardy Family Office (Matt Hardy, Private Party and TH2) vs The Best Friends and Jurassic Express

It shows how packed this card is that Orange Cassidy and Jungle Boy are on the pre-show. I also see a “Ban James Cordon” sign in the crowd. One of the things I have liked about AEW crowds is that they are bringing back the tradition of odd and funny signs in the crowd, and a LOT of video game related signs have been showing over the last few weeks.

Matt Hardy demands to fight Orange Cassidy and no matter who tags in, Matt tosses them to the corner Until Cassidy tags in until Luchasaurus tags in. Matt then tags in Jack Evans, which is a nice bit of business. They do a spot where a bunch of them grab a headlock or ankle lock into a chain until Luchasaurus hits a shoulder block in the middle that breaks it all up. Not as fast as it needed to be for the effect they wanted.

Cassidy is the last person to get into the ring and he gets that final spotlight after all of the baby faces get a moment in the sun. There's a nice sequence where Jungle Boy is on Luchasaurus's shoulders and fight off most of the HFO. Blade comes to the ring and Marco Stunt takes him out, allowing JB to lock in the snare trap and get the submission victory.

Your Winners: The Best Friends and Jurassic Express

An OK opener with a lot of action in the ring, not much of a story other than when Matt Hardy wanted to go after Orange Cassidy.

After the match the Butcher, sadly without his monocle, shows up and lays waste to Cassidy. Evans says to the camera he is going to cut Cassidy's hair, but the Best Friends, Jurassic Express, the Varsity Blondes and more come to the ring to drive them off.

We then get a group hug as the HFO goes to the back.

After the rundown of the card, Dan Lambert is in the arena, and the Men fo the Year, Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky cut a promo from the top of the arena. Scorpio Sky says they have to take it to the next level. Dan Lambert says he and the his people (some UFC fighters) just need his instruction to attack.

Jim Ross joins the announce team as we go to the top of the hour for the Pay Per View.

They announce the show is sold out, and that means they have filled the Now Arena in Chicago four time in the last two weeks. That is something amazing, and shows the fan base of AEW.

Miro (TNT Champion) vs Eddie Kingston

And Eddie has a Redeem Deez Nuts shirt.

He taunts Miro before the bell, and Miro doesn't react to any of it until the bell when they start jacking jaws. They each go to a finishing move to start with and Miro bails. Eddie is able to keep up the attack when Miro rolls back in and when Miro bails, Eddie follows him and they brawl outside the ring. Miro takes control after a power slam when Eddie tries to leap on him from the apron, and the hits a series of power moves.

Miro rolls him back in, gets a one count, and Miro keeps up is power moves. Eddie hits a series of slaps and Miro drops him with a single strike. Miro has been working over Eddie's spine to keep him from hitting suplexes and cutters. Eddie gets a flourish now and then, bt they are short lived. He also shows after any suplex that it hurts his back to do the move.

Miro starts hitting Eddie with strikes, but Eddie weathers the blows and fights back with chops and suplexes. When Eddie goes for the spinning back fist, Miro bails, but Eddie hits Miro with a Tope. When they get back in the ring, Eddie hits a fisherman's suplex for a two count. Both men looks spent, but Miro recovers first and starts striking Eddie's lower back and when Miro grabs him, but the turnbuckle pad comes off with Eddie's grip.

Miro is able to lock on the Game Over, but Eddie is able to get to the ropes and the crowd goes nuts for it. Miro is frustrated and Eddie hits him with a DDT and the ref is late to count the cover, so it's only a two count. The crowd chants three and then chants they feels that the ref didn't do his job correctly. Eddie tries to shove Miro into theexposed turnbuckle, but the ref blocks it.

Miro nails a low blow mule kick when the ref is admonishing Eddie, clotheslines Eddie and covers for the three count.

Your winner and still TNT Champion: Miro

Good opener, and it showed the chinks in Miro's armor, and gives Eddie a solid reason for a rematch at some point down the line.

Satoshi Kojima vs Jon Moxley

Kojima comes out with the NJPW Lion on the screen, and Mox comes out through the crowd with a GCW hoodie.

Chops, forearms and kicks to start in the middle of the ring. They then trade leaps onto the other outside the ring. When they get back in the ring, Mox notices Kojima's taped hand and attacks that. Mox then sets up a chop fest in the corner, and Kojima reverses it and does the same thing. They are just brawling inside the ring with neither man getting a huge advantage. Mox's left elbow is busted open.

After more brawling, Mox gets him in an arm breaker and Kojima gets to the ropes. They then trade big moves, slowing the pace, but upping the power of the moves. After Kojima hits a cutter, they start trowing hands in the middle of the ring again. After Mox gets a two count after a clothesline, he locks on the bulldog choke. Kojima makes it to the ropes for the break.

They trade blows again and Mox hits the paradigm shift and then a second one before the cover and the three count.

Your Winner: Jon Moxley

A good brawl that each man took a beating.

As Mox is recovering, we hear the music of Minoru Suzuki. Mox mouths “Oh f***” and Suzuki comes to the ring. They go face to face and the crowd chants Holy $#!t! Suzuki takes off his robe and nails Mox in the face. Mox fires back and they are trading blows. Suzuki laughs with each blow he takes. Mox starts laughing as well. Suzuki locks on the rear naked choke. Suzuki then hits a Gotch Pile Driver on Mox and stands over him, a foot on Mox's back.

Britt Baker (AEW Women's Champion) vs Kris Statlander

Britt brings Jaime Hayter and Rebel without her crutch, and Orange Cassidy is at ringside for Statlander.

They trader arm bars and Britt goes for the lockjaw that Statlander is able to avoid. Statlander goes for the Spider crab and Baker avoids it. When they go to the corner, Baker hits a fisherman's neck-breaker and rolls Statlander out of the ring. Cassidy is able to protect Statlander from Rebel and Hayter by standing between them.

Back in the ring, Baker works with stomps and strikes and Statlander is on the mat. Once Statlander is anble to get up, she uses her power to batter Baker into the corner and then keeps up the attack. Baker gets in a few blows, but Statlander gets a fisherman's buster for a two. Baker gets on a couple of impact moves for her own two count.

Baker puts on the glove for the lockjaw, but Statlander is up. Any time Statlander goes for a power move, Baker is able to counter it and get a move in on Statlander. As they are on the top, Statlander starts a superplex, but Baker isn't quite in position. Statlander is able to adjust as they are going over. Statlander goes to the top and misses a leap, but is able to power Baker up onto her shoulders. She drops Baker to the mat, hits a scissors kick and covers for a two.

I like the move/countermove story of the match.

Statlander misses the pendulum moonsault onto the floor and Baker is able to follow up with a curb stomp on the floor from the steps. As she is recovering, Cassidy yells at her to get up. Statlander starts to get the Spider crab, and Baker kicks her way out. Baker looks fresh and Statlander looks exhausted. Baker stomps her down in the corner.

Baker hits the Pittsburgh Sunrise for a two count, the curb stomp for the two, and then gets the lockjaw for the win.

Your winner and still AEW Women's champion: Britt Baker.

I like that Statlander took three finishers to lose, showing her toughness, and Baker beign fresh at the end of the match made her look good as well.

In the back. Andrade El Idolo and Chavo are asked about Pac's travel issues. Chavo says Pac isn't here because he's scared and he doesn't even KNOW the airline's number. Andrade says the will fight on Rampage instead.

Young Bucks (AEW Tag Team Champions) vs Lucha Bros in a steel cage

The Lucha Bros are rapped to the ring, no idea if these guys are known or not since I am a guy in his 50's, but it gives this a Big Match feel. And the headdresses they wear as their gear are impressive. The Bucks send the Good Brothers and Don to the back, but Brandon Cutler goes to the ring with them and Don goes to the announcer's table. Massive difference between the entrances.

The Bucks go for an escape early and the announcers let us know it's pinfall or submission only. The Bros start out hot, and this is going to be all four guys ping ponging around the ring. Each team spends a lot of time tossing the other into the cage. When the Bucks take over, they have a chain and they use it to choke Rey. When the Bros take over, Rey does a move where he hops onto the ropes, and then spring s off the cage with a DDT.

His balance is incredible.

And yes, it's a spotfest, but that's what these guys are known for and it's what the crowd is loving. Penta is put in a sharp shooter and grabs the rope, but there are no rope breaks in the cage. Each teams gets a near fall when they are on offense. The Bucks get a Meltzer Driver/Senton and it only gets a two count.

The Bucks cut off the next rally by the Bros with blatant low blows followed by more Bang for your Buck, but only a two count from that. The Bucks then go after their masks. Tony even says Don is full of $#!t. Excalbur apologizes and Tony says he doesn't apologize. Cutler tosses in a doctor's bag over the top of the cage. Matt pulls out shoes with thumbtacks on the sole.

Penta is busted open, and when Matt goes to kick Rey, Penta puts himself between them and takes the kick instead. Nick runs Penta into the show while Matt is on the top rope holding his foot out. Rey tries to stop the BTE trigger, but he gets a super kick from the tacked shoe and a poisonrana. Penta is covered and kicks out at two and the crowd goes nuts.

Rey rallies and takes out the Bucks and then nails them with the shoe. He hits a black fire driver and gets a two count. Nick is busted open. Penta and Matt hit package piledrivers on the other brother and it become Penta and Matt fighting. Penta hits an Avalanche Canadian Destroyer from the top turnbuckle. All four men are dazed on the mat.

They get to their feet and form a chop circle and then a super kick circle. Matt is the last man standing, but everyone pops up and takes out someone with a super kick. The Bros hit a fear factor for a two count. Crowd is rocking the place for the Lucha Bros. Rey climbs to the top of the cage. Nick kicks Penta and climbs the top. He falls to the mat, and Rey hits a cross body on all three other men.

Penta covers Nick for the three count.

Your winners and NEW Tag Team Champions: The Lucha Bros

If you know these two teams, you know what style the work, but this was them putting it all out and giving the crowd a spectacle. Insane action.

I'd hate to be in the match following this one. They do a recap of the show so far to give everyone a chance to breathe.

Casino Battle Royal

They are using the rules where we get a new group of wrestlers every few minutes. I like this variation of the battle royal.

Hikaru Shida, Skye Blue, Emi Sakura, Bunny, and Abadon

Shida and Sakura, who have a long time feud go after each other, and Skye Blue is the victim of the other two. Skye Blue is the first out with Abadon, and Abadon is next by the Bunny.

Next out are: Anna Jay, Kiera Hogan, Kyla King, Diamonte, and Nyla Rose

Shida eliminates Sakura, and King and Hogan are quickly eliminated as well. Shida is elimiated by Rose. Jay and Bunny have been attacking each other since they came out.

Next out are: Thunder Rosa, Penelope Ford, Riho, Jamie Hayter, and Big Swole

Rose asks for a Time Out from Rosa and gets a drop kick instead. Riho is eliminated by Hayter. Diamonte and Swole are eliminated.

Next out are: Tay Conti, Red Velvet, Layla Hirsch, Jade Cargill, and Rebel still without her crutch.

Layla is able to suplex Nyla which is IMPRESSIVE. Rebel gets eliminated by Red Velvet. Bunny and Anna Jay are out. Cargill Gorilla presses Layla over the top.

Last out is the Joker: Ruby Soho with the appropriate song.

She goes right at Jade and then goes after Rose. The action has been fast with people going after the people they are feuding with. Jade tosses out Hayter. Jade tosses out Red Velvet. Nyla Rosa eliminates Cargill. Anna Jay eliminates Ford but is eliminated right afterwards.

It's now Rose, Rosa, and Soho.

Rose beats them both down, claiming she will be the two time champion. Crowd is chanting for Ruby Soho. Rosa is able to eliminate Nyla Rose. I am really excited about these two going against each other. They jack jaws for a bit and then trade chops. They then trade clotheslines and work ON the ropes. Ruby is hanging on the ropes and Rosa stomps on her midsection. They battle on the apron and Ruby wins with a kick to Rosa' s head and Rosa drops to the floor.

Your winner and getting a shot at the AEW Women's Champion: Ruby Soho

Loved how the match was put together, working the feuds and giving Ruby Soho a fantastic entrance to the company. Rosa and Soho had the crowd in the palm of their hands as they fought on the apron.

MJF vs Chris Jericho, and if Jericho loses, he will no longer wrestle in AEW

Jericho has a guitarist for his entrance music and the crowd sings it for him. He has Floyd the bat with him.

Jericho gets a standing ovation after the bell sounds. MJF grabs Jericho's jacket, leaves the ring and wipes his backside with it. They finally lock up, hit clotheslines, and then end up resetting the match. It quickly go to the floor to brawl, and after tossing MJF into the barricade, the fight goes into the crowd, and JR tells us there are no count outs. As MJF goes back to ringside, Jericho grabs a stanchion and just drops it on MJF's head.

When they return to the ring, MJF is working over Jericho. MJF is working on the arm the Jericho injured at Blood and Guts. Jericho is able to come back with chops and a face buster. Jericho gets a two count after a back breaker and MJF's kick out has next to nothing behind it. MJF is able to take control again by working on Jericho's arm.

MJF struts and taunts the crowd while Jericho is recovering, and MJF hits a heat seeker on the apron and Jericho is on the floor as the Ref counts. Jericho gets in at the last second and MJF keeps up the pressure. They slowly get to their feet and trade punches. Jericho goes to the top and MJF is able to meet him with a knee and rolls him to the mat for a two count.

Again, both men take a long time to recover. MJF is up first and Jericho pops up and tries for the walls, but MJF kicks him first. Jericho hits the lionsault and covers for a two count. Jericho goes after MJF in the corner and gets a pair of ten blows. Jericho goes for the rana, and MJF counters with a power bomb. Both men are hurt by it.

MJF covers and only gets a two count. They battle to the top and Jericho tosses him off and gets a codebreaker. Wardlow comes to the ring and Jake Hager stops him and they battle at ringside. As the ref is watching, MJF nails Jericho with Floyd. MJF then hits a Judas effect on Jericho for the three count.

BUT JERICHO HAD A FOOT ON THE ROPES.

Your winner: MJF

The announcers are losing their mind over Jericho's career ending like this. Another ref comes to the ring and tells the in ring ref that Jericho had a foot on the rope. The announcer says Jericho's foot was on the ropes so the match is restarted. Jericho gets a quick rollup after a screw up by Wardlow and two count, and MJF locks on the Salt of the Earth. Jericho escapes and locks in the Walls of Jericho. MJF has to tap out.

Your winner: Chris Jericho

The Inner Circle comes to the ring to stand with Jericho.

CM Punk vs Darby Allin

We get black and white footage of Darby leaping from a helicopter after dangling a body bag from a rope under it. Darby's Dad, Sting, gives him a fish bump and a hug before going to the back and Darby skateboards to the ring.

Punk comes to the ring and they can hear the chants all across Chicago. Punk has long trunks for his ring gear now. Punk and Darby locked eyes and Punk sits cross-legged in the middle of the ring as Darby slumps in the corner.

They are both up and the bell rings. They lock up and when Darby gets the arm drag on Punk, Punk gives a nod. They run the ropes and when Punk hits the shoulder tackle, the crowd pops big. Nice slow start as they feel each other out. Punk is telling a story of being impressed with his facials so far, and playing with the crowd as well.

Darby is able to get an advantage going after Punk in the corner, but Punk follows up by tossing Darby through the ropes and into the ring post. It looks like Darby hit his head on the post as he goes through the ropes. Kids, don't do what Darby do. Punk has Darby on the mat and keeps up the pressure with quick pins and grabbing holds. He holds Darby down on the mat until Darby is able to work up and use elbows to get out, but Punk stops his comeback with a knee to the gut as Darby shoots off the ropes.

Punk locks on an abdominal stretch and Darby fights his way out. Punk works him down to the mat and locks on a read headlock. I like the story of this match with Punk keeping Darby from hitting his crazy moves by just working him with holds, like a veteran.

Darby is able to get a stunner off the ropes and they both struggle to get up. Darby gets a flurry with a coffin splash and a series of near falls. Darby hits a Code Red and gets a long two count. After Darby's flurry, Punk hits a GTS and Darby falls out of the ring. Darby takes nine of the ten count before coming into the ring. Punk hits a series of hard strikes on Darby, the high knee and the clothesline.

Punk signals for GTS, and pulls him up, but Darby stays on the mat. Punks gets him on the second time and Darby fights his way out. Punks goes to the apron, and then the floor. Darby hits a shoulder tackle into Punk on the floor. He goes to the top and hits a swanton. Darby tosses Punk into the ring and motions for a GTS and misses the coffin drop.

Darby is able to block to FGTS and locks in the Last Supper, but Punk escapes. Each man goes to a corner, and Punk eats a foot as he charges. Darby goes for a Poisonrana, and Punk grabs him for the GTS and covers for the three count.

Your winner: CM Punk

They worked great together, and Punk worked a slower style, countering Darby's crash bang style. Punk looked good in his return and the clashing styles make it work.

They worked great together, and Punk worked a slower style, countering Darby's crash bang style. Punk looked good in his return and the clashing styles make it work. It also followed the Main Event style of New Japan, where it started slow and then built as it went on. Each match tonight has had a different feel to it, which makes it so we are hitting the 3rd hour (4the if you count the pre-show) and it's just flying by.

Sting comes to the ring and shakes Punk's hand, and Punk kneels down next to Darby as Darby gets a chant from the crowd. Darby crawls to the ropes to get up on his own. Punk holds out his hand and Darby shakes it. Punk takes his time going to the back and the crowd is cheering him all the way up the ramp.

The next PPV is Saturday 11/13, and I prefer the Saturday shows.

Paul Wight vs QT Marshall w/The Factory

Wight throws out The Factory and then starts working over Marshall. Wight getsd in a lot of chest slaps in the corner, and Marshall takes Wight down with a drop kick to the leg. It doesn't take long for Wight to toss him out to the floor. Marshall is just getting tossed around the ring by Wight. Solow and Comorado get in the ring and get taken out. Wight hits the choke slam and it's all over.

Your winner: Paul Wight

And you got your Paul Wight match.

Mox is in the back and cuts a promo on how he will be fighting Suzuki. We then get Malachai Black talking about his match with Dustin on Wednesday. Both have good, short promos that do more in a minute than most people do in 10.

Main Event: Kenny Omega (AEW Champion) w/Don Callis vs Christian Cage

227 days as champion with 5 defenses for Omega. Much different booking style for the champion in AEW.

They start hot with Omega trying to attack before the bell, Cage trying to hit the Killswitch off the bat and then they fight quickly spills to the floor. Cage leaps off the top onto Omega on the floor. They brawl outside the ring, but it's hard to hear the crowd over how loud Callis's pink suit is.

Omega shatters a table by leaping onto it as it lays on Cage. Another table is set up and Cage reverses the suplex to avoid going through it. They go back into the ring and Cage is pressing his advantage. Omega takes over after raking the eyes. Oddly, other then MJF, there hasn't been a lot fo obvious heel work tonight. Even Britt Baker mostly just fought Statlander.

After fighting on the top, they go back to the outside. Omega tries for a moonsault off the barricade, but slips off the first time. He nods to the crowd, knowing he messed up and then leaps off of it for that moonsault. Back in the ring, it become a series of strikes by each guy. Omega hits the Ushi Garoshi (Yeah, I probably misspelled that) and the story moves to Kenny trying to finish Cage, and Cage able to kick out at the last second.

Crowd isn't as hot as for Punk Allin, but I don't see empty sears or people leaving. Cage gets some time for some near falls, and Omega is fighting from underneath. Cage goes for the spear and Omega hits a knee strike to stop his rally. Cage gets a swinging DDT with a two count and Omega stars in with the V Triggers and snap dragon suplexes.

Kenny calls for the end and Cage flips him the bird so Kenny heads another snap dragon and a V Trigger. Cage goes to the edge of the apron to prevent the pin. Omega tries to put Cage through the table her set up eariler and Excalibur says that Chekov's Table comes into play. Omega tries to hit the One Winged Angel onto the table, and Cage escapes. Cage spears Omega from the apron through the table. IT look slike Cage took a hit from the tabel leg as he came down.

They both crawl into the ring and Cage gets a spear into Omega's back. He gets a second spear and Cage gets a two count. Cage goes for a frog splash and Omega gets his knees up. Omega goes for a doctor bomb, but he can't hold Cage up. Omega starts hitting standing V Triggers and it's become a war of attrition. Cage tries to fight back and Omega gets a rip cord V Trigger. Cage locks on the cloverleaf and Callis calls for Gallows and Anderson. Callis distracts the ref and Gallows holds Cage, but Cage escapes and Kenny nails Gallows. Cage hits a Kill switch for a two count.

As Cage puts Kenny on the top, Callis gets in the ring and runs from Cage. Cage sets up for a kill switch from the top, but Omega gouges his eyes and is able to get it into a One Winged Angel from the top for the three count and the win.

Your winner and Still AEW Champion: Kenny Omega

A bit of a comedown from the Punk/Allin match, but they knew it would be. A different paced match than their last one, and an OK match, not a great one.

The Bucks come from the back and limp to the ring. It's time for the Elite to start the beat down. Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus hit the ring to no avail. Omega grabs a mic and says that the only people who have a chance to beat him or aren't here, are tired or are already dead.,

AND THE LIGHTS GO OUT.

ADAM COLE BAY BAY!

Cole comes to the ring and waits. Someone holds up a sign that says New Shirt on All Elite Wrestling Tomorrow. Cole then takes out Jungle Boy and hugs the Elite. Omega quotes Urkel and then hands the mic to Cole. Cole say the Elite is the most dominant faction in history and no one can stop them. Omega says it's a happy and he bids up Good Bye....and Ride fo the Valkyries starts.

It's Bryan Danielson!

He gets in the ring and helps up Cage and the Jurassic Express. Omega takes off and everyone else joins in battle as the crowd chants Yes. Danielson hits the knees first drop kick on Matt Jackson and we're out of time!
