Who should win CM Punk vs. Darby Allin?
That's an interesting question. In a perfect world, I think Darby should win after a hot competitive bout and then Punk can say it's been seven years and he has a lot of work to do to show the world he's the best in the world but he's going to do it. That said, doing that IN Chicago could turn ugly, so I can see Punk winning.
You have mentioned NXT will be back to normal live broadcasts on September 14th, but why were they taping in advance to begin with?
My guess is that they wanted to get a few episodes in the can so they had the time to prepare the Capitol Wrestling Center for whatever renovations/restructuring is coming to the building from a production and logistical standpoint when they move forward with whatever this new era of NXT is. It's a lot easier to handle that when you don't have to worry about producing live TV every week.
Whatever happened to the MLW Fusion: Alphia series? It was supposed to debut in August but now we are in September.
We are told it was delayed and will begin popping up later this month.
Is the old Masked Maniac Lyle Alzado show streaming anywhere?
You are thinking of the old Learning the Ropes series. It was produced by CTV in Canada, who would hold the rights. I have never heard of the series streaming anywhere or even being released on home video. Perhaps one day!
Since the MLW talks with Discovery+ seemed to go nowhere, has there been any talk of any other wrestling promotions there?
Not to the best of my knowledge. It did seem like WWE did something of a pilot with Discovery during Shark Week with Drew McIntyre but we haven't heard of anything else being developed in that regard.
I see the Urban Wrestling Federation stuff is streaming on Tubi - any chance of that thing coming back?
I don't believe that project is ever becoming active again.
