NEW JAPAN ANNOUNCES STARDOM SHOWCASE MATCHES FOR WRESTLE GRAND SLAM, OSPREAY REVEALS COVID-19 POSITIVE, TAIJI, SUZUKI AND MORE FROM JAPAN

New Japan Pro Wrestling star Will Ospreay has tested positive for COVID-19, British promotion Revolution Pro Wrestling announced on Twitter today.

RevPro clarified Ospreay is still expected to compete at its High Stakes show on September 19 in London.

Ospreay will miss RevPro’s shows on September 4 in Sheffield and September 5 in London. He was scheduled to face Brendan White in a non-title singles match on September 4 and team with Ethan Allen and Luke Jacobs against White as well as Doug Williams and Ricky Knight Jr. in a six-man tag team match.

It is also worth remembering Ospreay is scheduled to wrestle at New Japan’s STRONG tapings on September 25 and 26 in the Curtis Culwell Center in Fort Worth, Texas. He is scheduled to face Karl Fredericks in a singles match on September 25.

Ospreay later posted a video on his Twitter, saying he is fully vaccinated and will spend the next ten days resting.

Elsewhere, New Japan’s Taiji Ishimori will debut for Game Changer Wrestling at its GET LOST ALOT show on Friday, September 24 in the Melrose Ballroom in Queens, New York, GCW announced yesterday. Homicide versus Minoru Suzuki will take place at the same show and tickets are available here.

On the opposite coast, North California promotion West Coast Pro Wrestling has announced New Japan’s Yuya Uemura will face Vinnie Massaro at its I Hate You With A Passion show on September 10 in San Francisco. Tickets are available here.

Timebomb Pro Wrestling has announced New Japan’s Minoru Suzuki will face Dominic Garrini at its show on October 21 in Fargo, North Dakota.

New Japan has announced two World Wonder Ring Stardom showcase matches for the second and third nights of Wrestle Grand Slam shows on September 4 and 5 in the MetLife Dome.

Lady C and Maika will face Momo Watanabe and Saya Kamitani on September 4, and the latter will return again on September 5 to face Giulia and Syuri.

New Japan has uploaded the seventy-first edition of Hiroshi Tanahashi’s Ace’s HIGH autobiographical interview series.

Topics discussed include his thoughts on New Japan’s annual Wrestling Dontaku event, his decision to defend the IWGP Heavyweight Championship twice in four days and his first impressions of Kota Ibushi.

Koji Iwamoto’s two mystery partners representing All Japan Pro Wrestling were Ryuki Honda and Shuji Ishikawa. After the bout, Ishikawa requested a singles match against CIMA.

Three marquee singles matches have been set for GLEAT’s show on September 29 in Shinjuku FACE: El Lindaman versus Ryuichi Kawakami, Hayato Tamura versus T-Hawk and Takanori Ito versus Yu Iizuka.

Pro Wrestling ZERO1

Pro Wrestling ZERO1 has announced two matches for its joint show on September 26 in Aikawa on Sado Island co-promoted with JUST TAP OUT Professional Wrestling, OZ Academy and Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling.

Hartley Jackson and Takumi Baba will face Shinjiro Otani and JTO owner TAKA Michinoku, while Satsuki Nagao will face JTO’s KANON.
