MACLIN VS. TJP, EMERGENCE FALLOUT: BTI - BEFORE THE IMPACT REPORT

By Mike Johnson on 2021-08-26 20:01:00

This week's BTI - Before the Impact opened with Jon Burton, Josh Mathews and Gia Miller.

They showed Emergence highlights of Christian Cage vs. Brian Myers.

They then reviewed Ace Austin becoming the new top contender for the Impact Wrestling Championship.

They recapped Josh Alexander vs. Jake Something's great match at the Emergence PPV.

Backstage, Jake said he was close and Josh knows it.  John Skyler showed up and mocked him for being close.  He said Jake goes to the back of the line.  He doesn't know why Gia is talking to a loser when he beat Matt Cardona in his debut.  Jake said he got lucky and said perhaps they set up a match to see if he gets lucky against Jake.  They stared down at each other.

They recapped the mixed tag bout with Drama King Matt & Deonna Purrazzo vs. Melina & Trey Miguel.

George The Iceman's scoop was that "Juice Robertson" (Ooops!) is now injured and David Finlay is at Impact looking for revenge.

Maclin came to the ring.  He said that ever since he came to Impact, he's been asking for the best competition.  He mocked that they gave him Petey Williams.  TJP came out to the ring and accepted the challenge.

TJP vs. Maclin

They locked up with TJP and Maclin grappling to try and get the advantage.  Maclin gained control and began working him over.  He sent TJP hard into the buckles.  TJP cut off a whip attempt and nailed a head scissor takedown.  He ducked a clothesline and used a fakeout in the ropes to trick Maclin to the floor, then hit a pescado.

TJP tossed him back in but was cut off on the top.  Maclin drove him to the mat and peppered him with right hands.  Maclin worked him over but TJP came back with a surfboard variation, drilling him to the mat.  Maclin caught him with a back suplex for a two count and began drilling him with knees in the back.  TJP caught him with an exploder variation and nailed a tornado DDT for a two count.

TJP nailed several Bootscrapes and then a running Facewash.  TJP went for the Mamba Splash but Maclin avoided.  TJP landed on his feet but was caught and run into the ring post.  TJP was tied to the tree of woe and drilled by Maclin.

Maclin went to the outside and retrieved a steel chair while the referee was distracted.  Petey Williams hit the ring and nailed a Canadian Destroyer on Maclin.

Your winner by DQ, Maclin!

TJP was upset that Williams hit the ring and said he didn't need Williams' help.  He left the ring, leaving Petey in the ring.
