COMPLETE AEW DYNAMITE BLOG

By Cory Strode on 2021-08-25 21:08:00

It's Wednesday and you know what that means. It's time for a new episode of AEW Dynamite in Milwaukee Wisconsin at the UWM Panther Arena. Our announcers are Excalibur, Jim Ross, and Tony Schiavone, and we start with a recap of tonight's card and then right to the first match

Orange Cassidy w/ Chuck Taylor and Wheeler Yuta vs Matt Hardy w/ No one, I guess.

We start with light kicks and deletes until Matt puts his hands in his pockets and pulls out money. Cassidy gives him a drop kick, picks up one of the $100 bills and puts it in his pockets and then leaps onto Matt to brawl outside the ring. Matt controls the fight outside the ring and when they come back in. While Cassidy is on the mat, Matt picks up the money and shoves it back in his pockets and hits Cassidy with the soft kicks. When he drops Cassidy again, Matt takes his money back out fo Cassidy's pocket.

Matt keeps beating the crap out of Cassidy until they go to the corner when Cassidy is able to escape and run Matt into a couple of turnbuckles before Matt takes over again. Cassidy is able to get in a flurry of offense and Matt has a bloody nose. They fight on the top turnbuckle and mocks Matt's senton by putting his hands in his pockets after doing the Matt Hardy pose. Matt is able to regain control and goes for a twist of fate and Cassidy is able to reverse it and hit the same move for a two count.

Matt's face looks awful.

Matt tries for the leach, and Cassidy is able to drop down, put him hands in his pockets to trap Matt's legs and get the three count.

Your winner: Orange Cassidy

I like that it started with this crowd pleasing silliness, and then Matt controlled most fo the match so that the crowd can cheer for Cassidy for the majority of the match. The money bit worked for me as well, showing Matt's gimmick with Big stuff.

We go to Malakai Black who gives Brock Anderson a way out of the match to roll out fo the ring, apologize to him to get out of the match or Black will destroy him and his dad and anyone connected with him.

Jericho is out to tell Tony about his future of going on tour with Fozzy. Are we supposed to know that? Is it odd that he has no gigs for Fozzy on Wednesdays? The Milwaukee Choir signs Jericho to the ring. OH, looks like Tony isn't going to be in the ring to ask his one question. Jericho says it's been one of the best weeks for AEW, but not for him, since he lost to MJF.

Jericho says he always tries to be the best and he puts himself through the punishment because it's who he is and what he does. Not being able to beat MJF is driving him crazy. Jericho says he will keep attacking MJF until he does win and he has a proposal for MJF. He calls out MJF who doesn't show, so he says one final fight at All Out. He says if he can't beat MJF, he shouldn't be in AEW anymore. If MJF beats him he may go to the commentary table because he will never wrestle in AEW again.

MJF comes out and cuts his music immediately. He has a handmade shirt that reads MJF 3, Jeriblow 0.

MJF says he needed to get the rub from him. He says that Jericho tapped out faster than someone listening to a Fozzy CD and he would never wrestle Jericho again. Tapping out Jericho is cool, but retiring Jericho is legendary, and he asks Jericho is he wants this match with someone who mopped the floor with him three times.

He leaves and we go to the Varsity Blondes in the back who say they their bond is thicker than family.

Varsity Blondes vs Lucha Bros. In the Tag Team Tournament

After the Lucha Bros come out, the Young Bucks with the Good Brothers and Brandon Cutler show to watch the match on the ramp in their zebra bar chairs.

Griff Garrison starts off with Rey Fenix and they run the ropes. Penta and Brian Pillman Jr start by trading blows. Pillman gets in offense, but lets Penta get comebacks by playing to the crowd. Rey tags in and they go to the small screen where Pillman is just on the defensive as Rey takes over. Garrison tags in on the small screen and gains control, which is different than the formula of “one guy gets beat down on the small screen.

When we get back on the big screen, Penta is fighting to get to his corner after a bad looking DDT by Garrison. Rey is able to fight off both of the Blondes. All four men start fighting on the outside, so the Bro hit superkicks and Penta hits an assisted Tope. Pillman and Rey go to the ring and we get a series of near falls on Rey. The Bros are able to turn it around with super kicks, they hit an assisted pile driver on Pillman and Rey covers for the three count.

Your winners and moving on the Tag Team Tournament” The Lucha Bros

Jurassic Express comes to the ring after the match and the Bucks and their entourage walk down the ramp. The Bros and the Express shake hands and the Bucks get up on the apron, and get but with super kicks and then topes.

The Blondes got some in, but this was supposed to be a showcase for the Lucha Bros, but it didn't quite hang together as well as it should due to the small screen being where most of the match took place.

We get a video package to hype Pac vs. Andrade for All Out, followed by a rundown of the matches announced so far.

Jamie Hayter w/ Britt Baker, Rebel and Rebel's crutch vs Red Velvet w/ No one

I do not get the bit with Red being from “Straight of out your momma's kitchen”. I must be old.

Hayter dominates as the match starts. We're about two minutes in before Red gets any offense, with a pair of topes. Excalibur says they are going picture in picture as Hayter slams Red into the ring post and then Baker starts beating on her as the ref is distracted. Red is tossed back in the ring and Hayter keeps the beat down going.

When we come back, they are trading blowing in the middle of the ring and Hayter wins the exchange easily. Red gets in a few clothesline and then a Casadora with a facebuster, which gets Baker pon the apron. Red nails Baker and Hayter is able to take advantage of the distraction to drop Redf with a massive clothesline and covers Red for the three count.

Your winner: Jamie Hayter

Baker and Hayter go for the beat down and Statlander shows and clears the ring.

I would like to point out that Rebel's crutch is bedazzled. These are the little things that I love about AEW.

In the back, we see the issues with the Dark Order as Uno says he was counting on them to back him up in their tag team match. Alex blames Uno for Adam Page getting beaten down and not seen on AEW since. Uno says he made the right decision for all of them and he should stand in John Silver's shadow like he always does. They argue and Alex and John Silver walk off.

It's now time for Tony to ask a single question to CM Punk. He takes his time coming to the ring so the crowd can cheer him and he can drink it in. Tony says what is the one thing that brought him back. He says he can't hear Tony and the crowd cheers again. Is it just me or does Punk look a LOT like Negan at this point?

Punk lists off a bunch of the young guys on the roster and says one guy. The crowd starts chanting for Darby Allin. He's not the voice of the voiceless any more and the people has a voice and there are people in the back who listen. He talks up Darby and says Does CM Punk still have what it takes, and if the answer is yes, it starts with Darby Allin. He keep praising Darby and says he's got heart.

He then says it's about proving himself right and they will meet at All Out.

Punk explains why he is facing Allin without it being about heels and faces in this segment. Loved it and the crowd ate it up. Punk hugs members of the crowd on his way to the back.

We then get a video package of Miro. He has forgiven Fuego but he is after Eddie Kingston now. No good jokes about his wife in this little promo, just the God's Favorite Wrestler thing.

When we come back from commercial, Darby Allin no longer skateboards to the ring, and Eddie Kingston and Jon Moxley come through the crowd.

Darby Allin, Jon Moxley, and Eddie Kingston vs The Wingmen

Darby starts against JD Drake, who wrestles in a shirt, pants and suspenders and looks like someone's dad accidentally wandered into the ring. Eddie then tags in to go against Ryan Nemeth, Then Bononi tags in and Mox tags in and we go to picture in picture. Its a brawl on the small screen until they go back into the ring where Mox gets to take the beat down.

Mox is able to get the hot tag to Eddie who cleans house on JD. Ryan comes in to take a punch and JD tries toi take control, but Mox stops him and then Darby tags in and hits an Avalanche Code Red on JD. Peter Avalon starts to interfere, and Sting shows to chase him off. We get all six men in the ring, and Ryan bring in a chair and the ref tells him to get rid of it. Mox and Eddie charge him when he drops the chair. The brawl goes to the outside, Darby hits a coffin drop on JD and gets the three count.

Your winners; Darby Allin, Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston

Danny Garcia hits the ring and takes down Darby but he bails when Mox and Sting hit the ring.

We FINALLY get Tay Conti on Dynamite as she is asked about the Dark Order. Bunny shows and asks her to join the Hardy Family Order. Tay tears up the contract and they start to fight and are pulled apart.

We got Tay Conti!

Kenny Omega comes to the ring with Don Callis, Brandon Cutler and Michael Nakazawa as we go to a commercial.

FTW have a video promo where they will be back and they won't give up until they get their revenge.

Tony is in the ring with Tony and Don in his pink suit grabs the mic from him. Before he can get going, Christian Cage shows. He shows a video of his first match and the promoter says that Cage was fired after the match. Cage then says that it proves Don is a carny piece of $#!t. Kenny says it shows he was a better wrestler at age 10 than Christian ever was. Don then says he puts family ahead of talent.

Don jacks his jaw at Cage and takes off his jacket. Kenny tells Cage “You think you know me? YOU THINK YOU KNOW ME?!?” Don says that Cage is just second best and the beat down begins. Frankie Kazarian comes with a lead pipe and chase off Kenny and his crew.

In the back, Jon Moxley talks about the contract he got from Japan. He says Satoshi Kojima's name was on it. He is insulted that this crazy old man wants to get in the ring with him in Chicago. He then talks about how he will beat down the legend.

The Gunn Club vs The Factory (Aaron Solow, Nick Comoroto, and QT Marshall)

Paul Wight joins in on commentary and the Factory is already in the ring. Comoroto and Billy Gunn start the match. We go right to picture in picture. One of Billy's Kids (they don't tell us which one) is the one to get the beat down on the small screen.

When we come back, we're finally told it's Austin Gunn as he tags in Colton who gets to clean house. He hits a series of drop kicks where he is able to get high in the air. QT takes down Colton and then he mocks Paul on commentary. Paul leaves the table and Colton hits him with the most devastating move in ALL of professional wrestling, the surprise roll up for the three count.

Your winners; The Gunn Club

We get a recorded promo with Dan Lambert with Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page. He mocks the babyfaces and fans and says he will show them real men like the ones with him.

We get a rundown of the matches for next week. They then let us know that Tay Conti will be on Rampage...and a pair of tag team matches. They give the matches at All Out and then it's time for our main event.

We get a rundown of the matches for next week. They then let us know that Tay Conti will be on Rampage...and a pair of tag team matches. OK, fine, it's Jurassic Express vs The Lucha Bros and Kenny Omega and Brandon Cutler vs Christian Cage and Frankie Kazarian

We go to Arn Anderson who says his son won't listen to him. He says Brock has a hard head and he tells his son he's going to have to fight hard to win.

Malakai Black vs Brock Anderson w/ Arn Anderson

We have 6 minutes left in the show, so I don't expect a mat classic here. Especially since Arn doesn't have his Waffle House menu with him.

Brock attacks immediately and takes Black down with a double leg and he starts pummeling him. Black gets a leaping knee strike and takes control. He keeps Brock in the comer with kicks and strikes. Black then drags Brock in front of Arn. Arn has a towel and Black tells him to throw it in. Brock takes advantage of the exchanges and gets in some strikes on Black's leg. Black shrugs it off and taks down Brock with strikes and spin kick.

He covers Brock for the three count and the win.

Your winner: Malakai Black

Black grabs a chair from under the ring, and Arn is in the ring assisting Brock. Arn tells him to get rid of the chair and they will fight. Arn blocks the first kick but not the second and Black drops Arn with a roundhouse kick.

Lee Johnson comes to the ring, and Black slides out to talk to the back.

And with that, we're out of time!
