After his stunning defeat of Kenny Omega on AEW Rampage last Friday, new Impact World Champion Christian Cage makes his first defense of his title. D-Lo Brown and Matt Striker are your commentators.
Match 1: Matt Cardona (w/ Chelsea Green) vs Rohit Raju (w/ Shera)
Speaking of surprise champions, it’s recently crowned GCW champion Matt Cardona! He’s not wearing that strap tonight but….we know what you did, Matt. MDK. Cardona wants to wrestle but Rohit is getting in his head, playing to the crowd and refusing to engage. Cardona blasts him to the mat with a shoulder block and sends him to the floor and daresRaju to return to the ring with him. Raju comes back and eats a larait. Powders again and Cardona gives chase and Raju eats a big boot. Shera becomes a distraction and Raju uses the opportunity to bait Cardona over the ropes and twists his knee into the ring skirt. Cardona dumped out again and Shera with a big lariat behind the ref’s back. Cardona battling back with counters and gets into a strike battle, Raju gets flapjacked. Body splash. Raju escapes the boot wash. Caronda sends him back in, tries a slingshot splash but eats knees. Rohit with a flurry and a near fall. Rohit whiffs a corner senton and Cardona lands the boot wash. Comes in with a ruff Ryder, Raju is ready. Flatliner for two! Cardona with a second rope drop kick! Swinging TKO! Raju kicks out! Cardona tries to end it again, Raju with the roll up but the ref catches his feet on the ropes. Raju is arguing with the ref and Cardona hits the Ruff Ryder for the win. Shera hits the ring to lay out Cardona with a choke breaker. He tries the boot wash, Green gets in his face and Shera/Raju back off and start heading to the back while Cardona recovers.
Winner: Matt Cardona.
Match 2: Decay(Black Taurus, Crazzy Steve, Havok & Rosemary) vs Fallah Bahh, No Way, Savannah Evans & Tasha Steelz
I am never sad to see Decay, especially with Rosemary & Havok now holding the Impact Women’s Tag belts. The crowd is also happy to see Rosemary and Tasha can’t quite handle their chants to “bite her face off”. She tags out to Evans,who quickly overpowers the Demon Assassin. Crazzy Steve makes the save but he takes some damage in the corner. Black Taurus in and beats the heck out of Fallah Bah. Taurus distracts the ref while Decays swarms and bites on Bah. Rosemary back but Evans in to boot her in the face and take control. Tasha finally back in to throw hands on Rosemary. Havok in to wreck the much smaller Steelz. Sky High powebomb. Evans tags in to have a clash of titans.Trading forearms and elbows. Havok drops her to a knee! Steve in as Tasha is trying to choke out Havok. No Way tags in and Crazzy Steve is in trouble. Bah wants to smash but Taurus makes the power matchup even. Double spear from Taurus and Rosemary and Fallah Bah is own for the count before anyone can save him. Decaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

Match 3: Petey Williams vs Steve Maclin
Maclin tries to ambush Williams on the ramp but Petey is ready for it. Maclin slams his face off the steel steps repeatedly. The bell rings and Petey with a tornado ddt off the ropes. Maclin sent over the top and Petey with a pair of dives and dropping bombs into Maclin’s face. Maclin stuns Williams, suplex to the floor and a cactus elbow from the apron. Only a two count once Petey is rolled back in. Maclin gives Williams that work, as the crowd goes him to death. Petey trying to fight back and stay resilient but Maclin is slowly dismantling him. Williams almost with a rollup…Maclin pops right back up and tackling him to the mat with a lariat. Punches t the back of the head, Williams is limp but able to kick out. Williams with a well timed kick to the back, german suplex….running kneeeee….Williams wants the destroyer. Maclin catches him with a double underhook backbreaker. Williams put in the tree of woe, Maclin hits a spear but only gets a two. Williams picks the leg and slaps on a sharpshooter, he locks up the arm but Maclin bites his way free. The ref is distracts briefly and Maclin with a low blow and jumping sitout driver to take out Williams.

Match 4: Taylor Wilde vs Madison Rayne (w/ Tenille Dashwood & Kaleb with a K)
The anticipation is high for the return of Madison Rayne, who attacked Wilde previously and aligned herself with Dashwood. Wilde is fired up with the odds stacked against her and uses her speed to send Rayne out and dive after. Rayne catches her coming back in and slingshots her to the top rope. Wilde battles back, tilt a whirl backbreaker but only a two. Corner crossbody to the corner doubleknee. Another kick out! Madison with a ripcord cutter out of the blue, Wilde kicks out. Wilde with a german, Rayne lands ont he back of her head. Kaleb pulls out the ref, Dashwood tries to pass a loaded handbag, the ref catches it but Dashwood posts Wilde and Rayne is able to come in with the rollup and pulled tights. This was all about the numbers game and Wilde didn’t stand a chance.

Match 5: Chris Sabin vs Sami Callihan vs Ace Austin (w/ Madman Fulton) vs Moose (Impact World Championship #1 Contenders Match)
Callihan is the brash crowd favorite with the early boot to Sabin. Moose is showing power and throwing everyone about. Sabin able to rana him out of the ring, creating a speed war with Austin. Sami coming in but eats a high kick. Ace tries again but get blu-ray’d. Moose back in and powerbombs Sabin to the outside. Austin with a dive of his own but he gets powerbombed to the apron. Moose working over Sami, who can only throw a bird before he gets dropkicked off the top buckle. Sabin in and is pure motion, shotgunning Moose to the corner, diving to the outside and hitting a ddt off the top for a close two! Austin in to keep Moose at bay on the outside. Sami tries to cut him off, eats a blockbuster and stacked for a two count. Austin comes running and Sami sticks him with a piledriver for two. Everyone battling in the center, clearly weary. Moose firing up and everyone teams up to triple kick and lariat him down. Sabin and Sami go hard, Sami spikes the piledriver. Austin hits the double stomp to Sami. Moose back up to break Austin in half. Big chokeslam. Sami blasts Moose with a chair and Austin sees it and rolls up Moose before Sami can stop him. Ace Austin is your new #1 Contender!

Match 6: Josh Alexander(c) vs Jake Something (for the Impact X Division Championship)
Looks it’s like hoss-o-clock to me. These two bulls lock up and Something runs him into the corner. Alexander knows he shouldn’t match power and drags him to the mat with a waistlock….Something powers right out and tosses Alexander off. Alexander knows he has to break his challenger down and tries an ankle lock. Something with a corner spear. Alexander with a Northern lights. Alexander stomping out Something, he goes to chops and Something is waking up and is MAD. Alexander waits for Something to come running and hits a back elbow that starches him. Something with a body splash and works Alexnander over at ringside. ALexander tries a crossbody back splash but Something catches him and hits a DVD to the floor! Alexander and Something trading shots in the center, Something cold clocks him, vertical suplex. the champ kicks out! Something tries another body splash but Alexander stuns him and hits a flying knee to the back of the head. Both struggle to their feet and go back to throwing hands. Alexander with a quintet of germans…kick out by Something but Alexander holds the waist lock to hit ANOTHER five germans….Something kicks out again and the crowd is wild right now. Something back to hits feet, Josh picks the ankle for the submission…Something sends him flying to the ramp and dives out after him. Falcon arrow, Josh kicks out! Something rammed to the corner, forearm to the back of the head, doctor bomb! Something kicks out! High angle belly to belly! Alexander with the ripcord, Something decks him. Running lariat from Something! Corner spear! Something in for the kill but Alexander gets the ankle one more time. He drops into the hold and their in the center. Something is huge and makes the reach for the rope with his large frame. Something crawls to the apron and Alexander hits a butterfly spike piledriver to the apron. Something to limp on the floor but JUST makes the count before 10. Alexander drops the straps, Something catches him with a powerbomb. Kick out! Something comes in again, Alexander kicks out the knee and hits the butterfly pile driver to finally put the big man away. HOLY HELL THIS WAS GOOD. WOW.

Match 7: Trey Miguel & Melina vs “The Drama King” Mathew Rehwoldt & “The Virtuosa” Deonna Purrazzo
A preview of Deonna’s match with Melina in NWA. Deonna is in trouble early from some double teams. Rehwoldt in to help out but Trey goes to Mach 10 and just starts running over the drama king. Trey splashes Melina on Rehwoldt for two…but she gets run into the corner and the Knockouts champ starts getting her shots in. Deonna and Rehwoldt keep Melina on the defense, taking the time to get in her head and force a staredown with her NWA opponent. Melina catches Deonna with a neckbreaker, allowing the tag to Trey. Miguel betas the heck out of Rehwoldt, lots of flips into a double stomp for two. Miguel misses a slam on Melina to Rehwoldt. Rehwoldt clears him and they hit a double Russian onto Melina for two. Melina with a hair mare but Rehwoldt is beating up Trey at ringside. Melina tries a rollup on Rehwoldt, he kicks out. Deonna with a shot to the back of the head from the apron and Rehwoldt cradles her for the three.

Match 8: The Good Brothers (Doc Gallows & Karl Anderson)(c) vs Rich Swann & Willie Mack vs Violent by Design (Rhyno & Joe Doering w/ Deaner & Eric Young)(for the Impact World Tag Team Championship)
Doering and Gallows had a war last night on Impact that sent them both through the stage, making Swann & Mack the potential favorites here. Doering and LG pick right up at the bell in a slugfest. Gallows drops him with a shoulder tackle and Willie cuts off his amped up energy and tags into beat on a wounded Doering. Mack tries a suplex? Bad move, Doering works through the pain and plexes Mack. Rhyno tags in and falls victim to dome Swann Mack double team fun times. Swann’s the small rest guy in the ring and Gallows tags in to make him a victim. Swann getting choked out and double teamed by the good brothers. Big delay vertical suplex and Swann looks in bad shape. Rhyno tags in to pick his bones. Karl Anderson in to finish him off. Swann tags a very angry Willie Mack in, who cleans house. Big standing moonsault to Karl for two. Mack with a stunner! He goes to the top…Rhyno knocks him off, makes the tag, he sets up the Gore on Anderson…Gallows comes in, eats a mini Gore and Anderson comes in with the rollup to retain the belts. Eric Young and Deaner are furious at Rhyno for taking the L.

Main Event: Christian Cage(c) vs Brian Myers (w/ Sam Beale) (for the Impact World Championship)
Myers survived a 20-man Battle Royal to secure his shot for the Impact World Championship, originally held by Kenny Omega….but things are wild when the Forbidden Door is wide open. The crowd is VERY behind the returning Christian Cage but Myers is making the most of his opportunity in the early minutes, staying on the champ and taking every advantage her can. Cage tries a spear but Myers knows that one well. Cage chops him up on the barricade, but keeps Beale in his line of sight. Beale takes a shot with his clipboard and Christian backs himself and crashes into the steel steps. Myers uses the distraction to take out the champ, and keeps the heat on with stomps when he tries to get back in the ring. Big suplex for two. Christian to the ropes and Myers sweeps the legs and makes the knee of Cage into a target. Myers keeps the heat on, flatliner for a close two. Cage and Myers toe to toe in the standup. Cage with the 10 punches in the corner, dropkick off the second, kick out! Christian chokes him out on the bottom rope, slingshot into a uppercut. Christian wants to close this out, Beale with the distraction, Cage walks into a spear! Kick out! Myers takes him to the top rope, Christian with a tornado ddt off of there, Myers won’t quit. Christian tries for the Killswitch Engage…Myers launches him to the ropes. Myers comes in running, Cage with the spear! Killswitch Engage! One Two Three.

And that’s it for “Emergence”! Cage and Myers put on a solid main event contest here but the real star of the show was Josh Alexander vs Jake Something. THAT. MATCH. Cage moves on to face the surging and new #1 Contender Ace Austin. Until then!
