Tonight kicks off the ACTION Tag Team Championship Tournament! Three 1st round matches will happen tonight with the finals being a 3-way tag title match on 9/24. We also have the “Trials of the Baby Dragon” beginning tonight, with the Erron Wade facing off against a mystery opponent to cement his spot on the ACTION roster. The main event is a tag team grudge match coming off the heels of the chaotic “Game Over” main event finish. Scottt Hensley is your ring announcer. Dylan Hales and Jumpin’ Johnny Mosely are your commentary team. Bring on the action!

Match 1:  The Skulk (Adrian Alanis & Liam Gray) vs No Mas (King Garuda & Takuri) (ACTION Tag Team Championship Tournament 1st Round Match)

Here are two teams that know each other VERY well….but are the Skulk even here? Their music comes on multiple times before they feel inclined to even walk through the curtain, and even then they force a restart because the crowd won’t stand FOR them. They take several minutes to really take their time to rile up the audience and even Hales & Mose on commentary. So now that everyone truly can’t STAND them, No Mas comes out with the fire, ready to run their rivals over….again? Alanis using his power early to toss around his smaller foes. Garuda is able to use his speed to stay ahead and send Alanis to the outside. Double dive to the outside sends The Skul into the first two rows. Skulk cuts off a second one and returns the favor, torpedoing No Mas into the chairs. Alanis brings Garuda in and almost succumbs to a leg trap pin. Gray kick to the back and Skulk nearly get the pin on a Vertical suplex crossbody combo. Garuda tries another rollup. Gray with a vicious high kick and cutter for two. Garuda looks near death as he takes punishment from the Skulk. Garuda with another close rollup and gets the tag to Takuri. Takuri with a huge superkick to the Alanis. Rope walk head scissor/arm drag combo to the the Skulk! Snap powerslam to Gray! Kick out! Takuri gets Gray up and Grauda completes a wheelbarrow cutter for two! Alanis makes the save and goes toe to toe with Takuri. Huge sitout powerbomb to Takuri! Garuda blasts Alanis to the outside. Gray tries to rollup but eats a Garuda’s Wings. Takuri to follow up? Alanis cuts it off. Gray takes him off the top. Backbreaker into a cutter. Gray off the top to hit a ddt on Takuri out of Alanis’ arms. Takuri is VERY out of commission and takes the three.  Loved the chemistry here. The Skulk were ready for the roll ups that felled them last time these teams clashed. They took No Mas dead serious this time and made sure to put an exclamation point on the pin with that final move. Great opener!

Winners: The Skulk

After a great showing in last year’s ACTION Futures Tournament and this year’s SCI Erron Wade is here to begin his “Trials of the Baby Dragon” in hopes of securing a regular spot on the ACTION roster. Who will be his opponent tonight? OH GOD….what a draw for this poor kid. It’s KEVIN KU. WELP. GUESS WE’RE SEEING A MURDER TONIGHT.

Match 2: “The Baby Dragon” Erron Wade vs Kevin Ku

Wade tries to wrestle with Ku but he gets sent right to the match and wrapped into a sharpshooter quickly. Wade makes it to the rope but his prize is a series of leg kicks and chop fight with a striking machine. Ku with dragon screw, wraps up the legs again and stomps the hell out of Wade’s back. Wade tries to find his way into a choke and Ku is right back with more chops and kicks. Wade makes it to the ropes but Ku is just stomping his head on the bottom rope. Wade finds some hope when he catches the leg and tries a roll up but Ku is out quickly again to blast Wade more. Wade finds more fires and shotguns Ku to the corner. Ku sent up and spun down into an armbar attempt. Ku escapes but gets hit with a crane kick! Is it over??? Kick out! Ku ducks a kick into a fisherman’s driver, legs trapped but Wade’s out at two. Crowd is starting to come alive for Wade to persevere but that just sends Ku back into a kick & stomp frenzy. Ku comes running but caught into a flash Michanoku driver for two. Wade runs into a kick, Ku with a side slam, stomps out of the head and gut wrenches Wade into a back stabber. Wade is limp for the three but he’s clearly earned the respect of Ku, who gives a fist bump to the Baby Dragon as he leaves. This was great. Wade keeps getting better every time I see him and he got beat to hell and back by Ku tonight. Ku’s singles match run has been really good this year and this was a cool showing to help bring Wade up.

Winner: Kevin Ku

Match 3: Adam Priest vs Landon Hale

Hale is coming off a disappointing loss in the ACTION Futures Tournament first round, while Priest KO’d Kevin Ku at the SCI with his surgically repaired arm. Priest has it wrapped up tonight….I wonder how long that will last. Priest tries to wrap up Hale early but Hale is using his quickness to keep Priest off balance. A handspring rebound stunner sends Priest to the floor. Hale tries to chase him down but this is Priest’s playground and batters him on the apron. Crash and burn from Priest, Hale brings him back, tilt a whirl powerslam backbreaker for two. Hale works a bow and arrow but Priest works out, hits a knee breaker and slaps on a deep figure four. Hale scrambles to the rope but he’s limping now. Priest making a point to slam Hale onto that injured limb. Top rope leg drop from Adam Priest! Kick out! Hale with a body knee. Hale tries the handspring stunner again but Priest blasts him in the back of the head with the surgically repaired arm and Hale is cold for the pinfall. Priest grabs the mic and says he’s have more to say…LATER. Liked this lot. Hale has a pretty exciting arsenal but lord, Priest is even more of a heat magnet now with that surgically repaired arm gimmick.

Winner: Adam Priest

Bob is here. After his regular partner Rob Killjoy seems to have left him high and dry, who will be joining Bobby to vie for the ACTION tag team Championships? It’s the rapidly rising Brogan Finlay, a longtime friend of Flaco!

Match 4: Culture Inc (Eli Knight & Malik Bosede) vs Bobby Flaco & Brogan Finlay (ACTION Tag Team Championship Tournament 1st Round Match)

Flaco comes in hot with some amateur wrestling and almost gets the pin right out of the gate! Eli Knight getting frustrated as Flaco makes the pin attempts and parties with the crowd. Culture catches him posing and isolates Flaco in their corner for a prolonged beat down. The try to come in for the kill, Finlay pulls the rope down to clear Knight out of the ring. Bosede takes a pummeling from Finlay and has to kick his way out of danger. Flaco and Finlay lay in the chops and stomps. Basement dropkick and a two count from Flaco! Knight gets the tag and in with fury. Moonsault to Finlay for two! Finlay with a European uppercut takes Knight out of the air. Flaco enters the fray, eats a gorilla press for two. Culture Inc trying to end Flaco but he keeps reversing! Finlay gets the tag to cross body Malik on the second rope. Bobby flies to the outside. Big crossbody back into the ring by Flaco and Bosede tags the L. This was energy from the start and it fired up great. Culture Inc is a really great tandem but they definitely fell to the power of friendship today.

Winner: Flaco & Finlay

Match 5: Ashton Starr vs Robert Martyr

We have a rematch from a contested finish at “Boogie Nights” back in May. Since then, Robert Martyr won the ACTION Futures tournament just last week and looks to cement his status in ACTION by putting a definitive Winona his record against Starr. Fast work to start, Martyr traps a headlock. Starr tries to escapes but gets dragged back down repeatedly. Starr back out and dropkicks Martyr to the outside to recover. Martyr is shook and favoring his jaw as Starr tries to capitalize. Starr off the top but Martyr blasts him in the mouth with a forearm for two! Martyr cranking the neck and drops Starr on his spine. Trading slaps and chops, Martyr staggered, his jaw clearly still a factor here but he wraps up the arms of Starr and falls back into a butterfly. Starr tries a body slam but Martyr flips into a an armbar, kicking the face of Ashton out. Starr with a german, Martyr out at two and right into a kimura! Martyr refuses to let up on the arms, wrists an fingers of his opponent. Ashton tries another slam but Martyr slips it into a sleeper. Starr landing a series of kicks. Martyr finally ducks one and hits a brain buster for a close two. Back and forth reversals and rollup atttempts. Starr flips over with a jackknife cover and Martyr is trapped. Was Starr too close to the rope? It was real close! ACTION has a really good rubber match for us on the books for the future. Martyr was in control for so much of this, Starr seemed to have few answers for his relentless grappling offense.  I look forward to the next round.

Winner: Ashton Starr

Suge D is back from his suspension! The Good Hand is here and Suge is NONE TOO PLEASED about not being invited to the SCI and furious about the video that Suplex Science made about them leading up to this show. “Bring the lambs to the slaughter” he says

Match 6: Suplex Science (Alex Kane & Damyan Tangra) vs The Good Hand (Suge D & Kevin Ryan) (ACTION Tag Team Championship Tournament 1st Round Match)

Good Hand attacks Suplex Science before the bell. It’s going well until it VERY MUCH ISN’T. Kane with a big splash to Suge. Kevin saves Suge from the first of many intended suplexes, and they recuperate in the crowd before slowly working their way back to the ring. Tangra goes to the mat and tries to bait Suge into his guard. He picks the leg and Suge is right to the rope. Tangra is breaking Suge’s confidence in his own grappling skills as he invites Suge to take his back. Suge tries a punt but Kane is quickly in to try those plexes again. Suge gets cocky and falls into a trap of several suplexes from Kane & Tangra. Suge with the fishhook on Tangra. Kevin Ryan running interference and beats Tangra on the outside, sends him into a lariat. The Good Hand giving Tangra that good work over. Tangra trapped in a camel clutch boston crab and Kane makes the save. Assist standing moonsault by Ryan and Tangra’s out at two. Tangra is fighting back but Good Hand keeps Kane from making the tag and Tangra eats a german. Suge gets caught up jawing with Kane and Tangra uses the distraction to lay him out and get the tag out.  Kane gets the waist of Ryan and hits a series of suplexes. Suge spears Tangra through to break up the pin after a ripcord Olympic slam. Suge with a fireman’s carry, Ryan comes through with a neckbreaker and almost pins Kane. The crowd haaaaaaaaaates Good Hand. Kane sent to the outside, he tags Tangra on the way out and Damyan goes wild…until the numbers game catches up. Wheelbarrow neckbreaker from Good Hand…Tamgra rolls out. Kane back in but Suge is ready with a series of palm strikes and a knee lift. Suge goes for the kill but Kane with an X plex out of nowhere! Ryan and Tangra going back and forth with forearms and kicks. Spanish fly! Tangra kicks out into a Koji Clutch! Ryan stacks him for the pin! Tangra out and wraps up a STF! Suge prevents him from tapping! Suge floats over with a chin lock but Kane drops the straps and suplexes Suge out of the hold. Tangra rolls Ryan towards the ropes. Ryan taps out! But wait his feet are clearly under the ropes! The ref doesn’t catch it! Suplex Science are the winners! Suge is furious! This match was all emotion and action. Great stuff. I’ve been waiting for The Good Hand to continue their rise to glory and this was both a heartbreaking loss…but a great way for them to keep their frustration levels with ACTION at an all time high.

Winners: Suplex Science

Suge screams for ACTION CEO Matt Griffin to come out and address the loss. Kevin Ryan’s feet were clearly under the ropes. Matt is pleading with Suge as Angelus Layne ambushes him from the crowd. “I’ll take this”, says Suge as the Good Hand lines Griffin up for a Layne running knee. Suplex Science is back to save Matt Griffin. Layne and Good Hand are run off. “Did you miss me, Matt???” Layne yells as Griffin gets on the mic and tells her that he’s sick of her invading his shows and if she wants a match that badly, she has one in October…but Matt Griffin will be picking her opponent personally.

Match 7: AC Mack vs Cabana Man Dan

AC Mack is a week off of his huge victory at the Scenic City Invitational. “I tolllllllld you” he says as he goes through his intro, forcing Scott Hensley to hold that trophy high in the sky. CMD lost in a heartbreaker in the first round of the SCI so this is sort of a shot at redemption for him here against a familiar opponent in AC Mack. Good chain of graps through the opening minute to a stalemate. CMD is right into Mack’s face but AC welcomes the opportunity to get into his opponent’s head. Dan run into the corner and punching his way to freedom, leveling AC with a shoulder block but runs into a big boot that sends CMD to the floor. AC brings him back but CMD is throwing hands and AC doesn’t know how to respond to this aggression. Mack fights fire with fire, CMD catches the arm and lays in some chops. Dan sent to the apron, back in with a code red for two. Mack working the Mack-10 but CMD tries a roll up. Fighting over a backslide, CMD tries a crucifix pin but Mack gets the leg and secure the three count. YES. Great back and forth here, the new attitude of CMD continues to impress but AC Mack is resilient and riding high on his SCI win.

Winner: AC Mack

“I’m not here to talk trash to you AT ALL” says Mack on the mic. He puts Dan over huge as a former HOSS winner, former New South champion and a great opponent. But speaking of championships….Mack wants Wheeler Yuta and he wants him HERE in Tyrone, GA. He talks about how Yuta/Garcia went 60 minutes at IWTV 100 and how that match made him proud to be a wrestler…..but all that proved was Yuta went 60 minutes and couldn’t get the job done. Mack walks through his last few years of accolades…he’s calling his shot. He wants the IWTV belt. Adam Priest makes his previously mentioned return to tell AC Mack that HE is wrestling in all the places that Mack wants to be…and also that he beat Mack in their last encounter (despite what the conspiracy theorists might say about his arm being a factor in that win). Mack calls him out for a rematch in September and they quickly get into each other’s faces before the locker room needs to separate them and Matt Griffin gives the rematch a thumbs up for September. We’re on!

Main Event: “The Booozerweight” Matt Sells & “The Heathen” Logan Creed vs “The ACEGAWD” Arik Royal & “Number One” Jaden Newman

Matt Sells and Jaden Newman became a factor in Logan Creed’s failed bid to capture the Action Championship at “Game Over”. Newman is wearing Royal’s spare entrance attire to provide some team solidarity as they vibe their way to the ring to Schoolboy Q’s “Californiation”….I love this so much. But if you like visual solidarity….Logan Creed & Matt Sells both have face paint, headbands and black spiked vests. It’s like Shawn Michaels and Diesel by way of a metal band. We’re calling them the “Sexy Heathens”??? Well, this is wonderful. Newman demands Sells do a field sobriety test. He passes….well enough. Sells and Royal kicks this off, rekindling their rivalry with a slugfest. A knee stuns the ACEGAWD and Creed is in to assist with a double chokeslam. Newman isn’t thrilled to have to come in against the heathen. He tries a crossbody but Logan lets him fly by and land on Royal outside. Sells and Creed take their turns at a dive. Creed and Sells gets Royal and Neman into position to hump their faces into the mat. Newman doesn’t get KO’d this time and Royal endures the indignity. Sells wants the palm strike to Royal but Newman grabs the leg. Flying back kick from the Acegawd and Sells is taking damage in the corner from Royal and Newman. Royal gives Sells a proper beat down. Newman in but almost gets caught in a crucifix pin. Newman slams him back and tries to work a choke. Your Action Wrestling champion tags in, working to a camel clutch and settles for a Junkyard-style headbutt. Royal with a senton and Newman tries to steal the pin with the ropes but Ref Shiny Shoes is onto his tricks. Sells is fighting free of the corner but Royal slaps on an abdominal stretch and tortures the Boozerweight while the ref prevents Creed from making the save. Newman has Sells trapped in a neck hold and they take turns biting each other, the hate is strong there. Royal sings Happy Birthday to Matt Sells before running into a palm strike, allowing Sells to get the tag to a VERY angry Heathen. Newman is in trouble. Royal tries for Kobe but Creed catches him with a uranage. Newman hits a blockbuster! Royal with the Kobe! Creed kicks out! Sells back in and throwing hands on Royal. Sells with a cutter off the second. Newman catches Sells with a german. Sells with a cactus clothesline. Creed back in with the champ but Royal is too busy watching Sells and Newman. Creed gets the full Nelson and blasts him down with Scorched Earth to get the three count. Royal is motionless while Creed takes his Action Wrestling championship and holds it high  above his head. Newman lays out Sells, sending Creed to make the save and run off Number One with a chair. Royal is alive again and makes his escape with Newman. This whole main event was hot as hell,

Matt Griffin grabs the mic and decides that he has some ideas. First idea: Logan Creed is getting another shot at Arik Royal on 9/24. Second idea: Matt Sells and Jaden Newman are going to dance once again…and Sells gets to pick the stipulation. Sells wants to dump Newman in the lake out back….so on 9/24, it’s going to be Falls Count Anywhere.

Winners: Sexy Heathens (ok yeah, this name is great)

And that’s it for “ACTION for Southside Support”. Hands down, this was great top to bottom. All the tag matches delivered…obviously a special callout to the return of the Good Hand to ACTION. If Erron Wade’s FIRST trial was Kevin Ku, I can only imagine what ACTION has lined up for him in the months to come. Between Priest/Mack, Sells/Newman and Royal/Creed, so much was set up for September 24th (now titled “Acting Accordingly”), now stacked full of grudge matches as well as the return of Anthony Henry…a show that, unless the universe conspires against me, I should be in attendance for. This is looking great, until then!
