8/14 NJPW RESURGENCE IN LOS ANGELES, CA LIVE REPORT

8/14/21 New Japan Resurgence at The Torch in front of the Memorial Coliseum

*Alex Coughlin vs. Karl Fredericks. (Coughlin Challenge Series - Match 3) - 10:48 Fredericks wins with implant DDT. 

*Rocky Romero & Fred Rosser & Wheeler Yuta vs. Ren Narita & Clark Connor & TJP.- 11:19 TJP pins Rocky Romero after a splash off the top rope. 

*Team Filthy: Yuya Uemura, Adrian Quest, Chris Dickinson, Fred Yehi & Lio Rush vs Tom Lawlor, Danny Limelight, JR Kratos, Jorel Nelson & Royce Isaacs - 12:56 Uemura pins Limelight with front double arm capture suplex with a bridge.  Uemura thanked the crowd afterwards on the mic.  And proclaims he wants to join the LA Dojo. Shibata  enters the ring, says “Come with me” and gives him a LA Dojo shirt. 

*Juice Robinson vs Hikuleo - 9:00 Juice wins with a victory roll pin counter to a Death Valley Driver.  Hikuleo attacks Juice after the match with a chokeslam. 

NJPW Strong Touring announcement.  NJPW returns to Bay Area for Battle in the Valley November 13th announcement. 

*Tomohiro Ishii vs. Impact Wrestling’s Moose. 16:07 Tomohiro Ishii pins Moose after a brainbuster.  Hard hitting match telling a great story. 

Will Ospreay surprise appearance.  Says he’s medically cleared. Declares he won’t be apart of the G1 and he was not going back to Japan.  He’s mad at the office for stripping him when Moxley had a title for a year without defending it once.  He says that he is the real world champion and brings out the IWGP World Heavyweight Title.  Calls Shinzo the interim title and will stay in New Japan Strong.  Trashes the LA Dojo and Fredericks and Connors come out.  TJP comes out too and Will trashes him verbally.  Throws a water bottle at them and takes off through the crowd. 

*Jon Moxley & mystery partner - Yuji Nagata vs. Impact Wrestling Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers.  Fireworks breakout in the stadium during the match.  They are doing a rehearsal not related to the show. 

Good Brothers pin Nagata after a Magic Killer. They hit a Magic Killer on Moxley on the outside through a chair to take him out of the match setting up the finish with Nagata.   Good Brothers take the mic, plug Talkin Shop Las Vegas, take credit for the crowd showing up, but the mic cuts out. New mic but still not working.  G.O.D. come down the aisle. Face off and the Good Brothers leave.  

*NEVER Openweight Champion Jay White vs. David Finlay.  22:59 Jay White earns first defense of his Never Title with a blade-runner.  Crowd solidly behind Jay White the entire match. 

Tomohiro Ishii comes out after the match and demands a future title match.  Jay did not seem to enthusiastic about it and ran him down verbally without a mic.  Then takes the mic and runs him down saying how he’s won every title in New Japan and declares himself “The Real Belt Collector” and all champions in other promotions should be aware. 

*IWGP United States Champion Lance Archer vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi.  19:26 New IWGP US Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi pins Archer after a High Fly Flow.  Tanahashi becomes the 2nd Grand Slam Champion in New Japan History behind Jay White.   Archer takes the mic and exclaims “F**kin Tanahashi” and gives Tanahashi props and says he respects him.  He says he’s happy that Tanahashi came to LA, but he wants him in AEW.   Tanahashi promises to oblige him.  Thanks the crowd for coming.  He promises to come back soon.  Air guitar celebration to close out the show.
