Earlier this year we saw internet personality Logan Paul briefly feature at WrestleMania 37. The YouTube star was involved in a storyline involving Sam Zayn and Kevin Owens, the latter stunning the celebrity in the ring. This appearance begs the question: could we be seeing more of Logan at WWE events in the future? Or better yet, could we even be seeing the likes of both himself and his brother Jake appearing as a collective?
Plans are already being drawn up for WrestleMania 38 and an appearance from the Paul brothers could prove to be a showstopper event for the organisation.
Jake is currently preparing for his next professional boxing match. He's set to take on former UFC champion Tyron Woodley in what will be his third bout in the boxing ring. The bookmakers make the YouTube personality the odds-on favourite at 8/13 in the Tyron Woodley vs Jake Paul odds, however, his future in the sport is uncertain and it remains to be seen if Jake decides to continue boxing. That being said, Jake's word is strong on the subject, as evidenced by the fact he's already delivered a series of challenges to high-profile fighters from the boxing and MMA worlds, including one of the biggest names, Conor McGregor.
The 24-year-old has yet to taste defeat in the boxing ring. He made a successful debut against fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib in 2020. He then faced former basketballer Nate Robinson, coming out on top in the second round. Jake passed his latest test against retired MMA fighter Ben Askren. The fight lasted just 1 minute and 59 seconds as he prevailed against the former professional fighter by TKO. Given that the quality of the opponent was much better on this occasion, the victory earned him a lot of credit.
WrestleMania is the biggest event of the year for the WWE and they have, in recent years, hired prolific celebrities and influencers to appear. More than anything else, the role of these figures is to help promote the event.
A prime example of a high-profile appearance is when NFL star Rob Gronkowski was the special host at WrestleMania 36. He ended up winning the 24/7 title during the event. A return to the NFL meant he could not commit to any further appearances, otherwise, he may have agreed to a longer deal with the WWE.
Going further back, in 1998, Mike Tyson was the special enforcer for the WWE title match between Stone Cold Steve Austin and Shawn Michaels. He didn’t actually fight in the ring but was a big part of the storyline for the main event.
Jake has been called out on WWE Raw by a number of superstars on the brand. Back in April, Damien Priest branded him "fake" following his success over Askren. He compared Jake to the likes of pro-wrestler The Miz, claiming both are delusional.
Former WWE wrestler Teddy Hart has also issued a challenge to face Paul in either a boxing or wrestling match. That latter is probably unlikely as he's currently not signed up with a wrestling brand.
Who knows? We may even see the Paul brothers join forces as a tag team on WWE. Older brother Logan will feel he has unfinished business with the brand and with Jake alongside him, they could be a truly commendable duo.
