It's Wednesday, we're at Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, PA, and it's time for AEW Dynamite on TNT. Our announcers are Jim Ross, Excalibur, and Tony Schiavone. We start with a promo from JF stating that he's beat Jericho twice and Jericho has never beaten him. He's been watching the Labors and it's been entertaining. But now, he will be stopped right before the finish line by Wardlow. He then says that if he DOES get past Wardlow, he will find out that he's still better that Jericho.
Wardlow says he'll beat him, and MJF says “Like you did Cody in the cage?” (which Wardlow lost). He tells Wardlow to get the job done and we get the rundown of matches tonight.
The Elite (Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks) vs Dante Martin, Mike Sydal, and Matt Sydal
Don Callis joins the booth and the Elite has the most sedate ring gear in months. JR, Tony and Don have great insults back and forth.
Like most weeks, they start the show at 100 MPH with a focus on high flying moves and fast tags. When Dante Martin is in the ring, the height he is able to get is just amazing. Also surprising how loud the boos are for Kenny when he attacks people from behind.
Sign at ringside reads We Want Danhousen. I'm sure he approves so that he may add to his money bag.
Mike Sydal gets to spend most of the time in the ring to take the beating from the Elite, and even the Bucks are getting booed by the crowd. After Matt Sydal tags in the match speeds up and it becomes a spotfest, and the crowd is into it. As they work through the moves, Dante Martin's moves are amazing with a leaping Hurricanrana to the outside and them a leap to the apron, up to the top and a leap into one fo the Bucks without a pause. Omega takes Dante up for the One Winged Angel and Dante escapes and they have a great sequences of getting out of each other's moves.
The end is Dante taking a One Winged Angel, the Bucks get a BTE Trigger and Omega pins for the win.
Your Winners: The Elite
Tony comes to the ring to try and get a question out, but Don Callis cuts him off. Before Don can get started, Christian Cage comes out. Don calls him a Stamford stooge. He tells Christian that there are ten of them and one of him. Jurassic Express comes out and we go to commercial.
We come back and as Tony is introducing everyone, Don grabs his mic and says the Jurassic Exprtess gets their tag team title shot at the PPV in Chicago.
The crowd chants CM Punk so loudly that Don has to stop and wait.
Don then taunts Christian and says he will have to wait for his match. Cage calls Don a carny piece of $#!t. Cage then corrects himself and says because they are in Pittsburgh, he says he is a carny jagoff. Cage then says that Kenny has more than one championship, and he will be wrestling him is Pittsburgh for the Impact championship on Rampage's first match Friday.
Jungle Boy cuts a promo.
WHAT??!!??
He says that next week, they are wrestling the Bucks for the titles next week.
Kenny asks for Jungle Boy's music to be cut and asks the crowd if they were signing along or if they were chanting No, no no. The answer him with singing Tarzan Boy by Baltamora.
We then cut to a recorded promo from Malakai Black that he did what he said he would do, and he thinks Cody has one foot in the grave. He then gives a dark warning to the rest of the roster and it's a great promo. The announcers let us know Cody is out today. They then promo Cody's reality show.
We come back from commercial to Miro to talk about his match last week. He hypes the match with Fuego Del Sol on Friday night, and it's a fantastic promo.
Daniel Garcia w/2.0 vs Darby Allin w/his dad, Sting
Daniel says that he could have beaten Darby Allin last week if not for Mox and Eddie Kingston, so Sting better stay out of his business.
Darby's cheers are huge. With Darby and Daniel around the same size, they first a series of hold, and yes, they both work headlocks. I like the sequence last week where Darby had a lot of mat wrestling rather than “Hi, I'm Darby Allin, and this is Jackass,” and this match is a lot like that. In the commercial break on the small screen, they keep up the hold/counterhold story of the match.
When we get back, the announcers let us know that Daniel has been working over Darby's arm. Daniel then locks on a variation fo the full nelson by sitting on Darby's back and butterflying his arms that looks painful. Darby is able to get a flurry of offense, hits a coffin drop and covers Daniel for the three count and the win.
Your winner: Darby Allin
After the match, 2.0 starts to attack, but Sting and Darby are able to beat them back, and Sting gets in some moves to make the crowd happy.
In the back all three members of Death Triangle have made it to the arena. They all want a piece of Andrade. Pac says he will handle Andrade, and Penta and Rey need to focus on the tag team championship. He then says that his obsession with Death Triangle, and he's ready for them.
Orange Cassidy, Chuck Taylor and Wheeler Yuta w/ Kris Statlander vs Matt Hardy and Private Party w/ TH2, Bunny and Blade
Hardy and Cassidy start the match off and they start with some comedy business. The best was when Matt kicks out at one and Cassidy tells the ref it was two. After he tags out it becomes more tradition, and, wait for it, Silly String by Private Party actually works for the first time in ages. Yuta gets the small screen beat down during the commercial.
When we come back, Bunny interferes and when Statlander tries to get revenge, she's taken out by Nyla Rose. Chuck Taylor gets int o the match for the first time gets a Chucky T chant from the crowd. They then have a series where everyone gets an attack in the ring and ends with Yuta in the ring with Quen to try to finish the match. The announcers talk about how Yuta has trouble closing the deal due to inexperience. The match ends when Matt uses Marq Quen as a ram against Cassidy and then hits a Twist of Fate on Yuta for the three count.
Your winners: Matt Hardy and Private Party
Backstage Andrade answers Pac, and he starts to talk and Chavo takes over and talks about how Pac is so ungrateful. He then tells Andrade to teach Pac a lesson at All Out.
We then get a video package of the feud between FTR and Santana and Ortiz. Nothing new, just a way to keep them on our radar.
Nyla Rose w/Vickie Guerrero vs Kris Statlander w/Orange Cassidy
The story of the match is a battle of power. Lots of throwing hands and going off the ropes into each other. Outside the ring, Vickie and Cassidy confront each other, and Vickie screams so loudly that Cassidy has to cover his ears and is staggered before we go back to the fight in the ring.
Statlander is able to pulls Rose off the turnbuckle, power bombs her and then his the 451 splash off the top and covers Rose for the three count.
Your winner: Kris Statlander
Really made Statlander look strong and Rose falls further down the card.
Backstage the Budks and Brandon Cutler. They put themselves over and no one is in their league. Nick says beating Jurassic Express will be as easy as a layout. He goes for the portable basketball hoop for a layup and the ball is knocked out of his hands by Luchasaurus from off screen. Jungle Buy knocks down Matt and Luchasaurus says “Not in my house.”
We get a promo for the match between Red Velvet and Britt Baker this Friday on Rampage highlighting Red Velvet.
Then, in the ring, Tony brings out Hometown Girl, Britt Baker. He asks her about Red Velvet's rise, and she says she can't relate because she's always been on top. The crowd is on her side. She then says that she wasn't afraid to step up for the division, the new era and when the city needed a new champion. She then holds up the title saying she presents hope. She then gives a solid promo about how she will beat Red Velvet as the main event of Rampage.
Red Velvet rushes the ring and the referees have to pull them apart.
I know most people will say the segment was great, however, there was no Reba, so it failed for me.
We then get a video package of the feud between Brian Cage and Ricky Starks.
The Good Brothers (Champions) vs Dark Order (Evil Uno and Stu Grayson) for the Impact World Tag Team Championship.
Scott D'Amore joins commentary.
Stu attacks the Good Brothers before the bell and they have control in the first part of the match. Only Colt Cabana are out with them, and Excalibur says there is some dissension in the ranks after them not allowing the Dark Order to assist Adam Page last week. Brandon Cutler tries to interfere and Colt drives him off, and Frankie Kazarian finishes the job and drags Brandon to the back. As the Brothers take over, Uno gets to be beat down on the small screen.
We come back to the big screen with Stu getting to clean house. We then get some tag team work from Uno and Stu, which we haven't seen in a while. We then have all four men in the ring for about three minutes as the ref does nothing. The Brothers are able to interrupt the Fatality by Gallows tossing the belt in the ring, the ref tosses it out They then get rid of Uno, grab Stu off the top and hit the magic killer and cover Stu for the three count and win.
Your winners and still Impact Tag Team Champions, The Good Brothers.
A solid tag team match, and it could be a way to start re-establishing Uno and Grayson as a tag team.
We then get a video package of Kamille, the NWA women's champion to introduce her to the audience. She promotes the NWA women's PPV.
When we get back, Tony is the ring with The Factor so QT Marshall can give his apology. QT says that there would be an apology and QT should be the one apologizing. He then says he will apologize to him for what he will do to Tony's son right now. Nick Comorado drags his son (who is trainign to be a wrestler) to the ring and tells Tony to apologize. Tony does so, and QT says it's not good enough and hits Tony's son with a stunner.
This brings out Paul Wight. Paul takes his watch off and comes to the ring. QT tosses Aaron Solow to Wight and leaves. Paul choke slams Solow while staring at QT the whole time.
The Fourth Labor of Jericho: Chris Jericho vs. Wardlow w/MJF
Jericho starts off fast but Wardlow fires away. Jericho slumps to the corner and Jericho eats the corner. Wardow charges and Jericho hits the Codebreaker for a 1 count. Wardlow with a beel toss across the ring. Wardlow with a suplex, followed by another. A clothesline by Wardlow sends Jericho to the outside. BTW at absolutely no time has the word "Pinnacle" been mentioned yet. Wardlow beats him down on the outside. Pressslam on the ring apron by Wardlow. The action returns to the ring and Wardlow nails a powerbomb, followed by another as we go to commercial.
We are back and Wardlow is in total control. He hits another power bomb. Wardlow slaps him and Jericho with a chop. No matter, Wardlow nails an F10. Jericho sweeps the legs and applies the Walls of Jericho. MJF with an eye rake outside of the referee's view. He tries more interference and Aubrey Edwards ejects him. While Aubrey is arguing, a "security guard" hands Jericho Floyd the bat. He nails Warlow in the gut and hits the the Judas Effect for the pin.
WINNER: Chris Jericho
Shawn Spears hits the ring and "The Pinnacle" is mentioned. Jake Hager clears the ring.
MJF has the mic. The stipulation for the MJF v. Jericho match is that the Judas Effect is banned. No Judas at all. No music.
We go to credits.
