8/7 AAW SAVAGES & KINGS REPORT

AAW: Savages & Kings - 115 Bourbon Street in Marionette Park, IL - 8/7/21

Chuck E. Smooth opens the show in the back of Bourbon Street letting everybody know that nobody in the building put their name on the dotted line to fight his monster, Russ Jones.  The deal still stands that if the crowd doesn't like what they see, they can chant Russ and they'll come out to take care of business.

The announcers tonight are Tyler Volz and Joe Dombrowski 

Isaiah Moore vs. Shane Mercer

Shane Mercer and Isaiah Moore opened the show with a powerhouse showing of Shane Mercer showing off his strength.  An impressive finish as Mercer hits the Moonsault & Battery on Isaiah Moore.

Winners: Shane Mercer in 4:58

Backstage - Eddie Kingston lets everybody knows it has been a long 2 years since he was in AAW with many things that happened the last two years.  He never forget that AAW is the one that gave him fed.  He was offered a match against a previous opponent in AAW, Fred Yehi and was given the ability to pick his partner.  Eddie says it doesn't matter who his partner is because whoever he picks, he will be on his level.  And maybe after tonight, he may come back after Fred for his previous belt, the AAW Heavyweight Championship.

AAW Women's Championship #1 Contender Match: Christi Jaynes vs. Jodi Threat vs. Skye Blue

The crowd favorite is Skye Blue who has been making waves in AAW since the return from the pandemic.  During the beginning of the match, we noticed that La Sociadad Boricua (Axel Rico & Rico de la Vega) are in attendance in the crowd with signs against Skye Blue, who previously embarassed the tag partners at a previous event.  Jodi showed much domination throughout the match with her hard hitting style.  The action soon led out into the crowd leading to bar having Skye Blue suplexing Christi Jaynes on the bartop.  As the action returns to the ring, Skye Blue eventually punches out La Sociada Boricua and ripping up their signs.  La Sociadad then double teams Skye Blue, only for Jodi Threat to break up the action, only to have Christi Jaynes moonsault to the floor.  Jodi Threat hits Christi with the sit down powerbomb to become the new #1 contender for the AAW Women's Championship.

Winner: Jodi Threat in 11:42

Backstage - Allysin Kay lets everybody know that the works begin tonight with her first title defense of the Women's Championship.  Melanie may be facing her tonight, but she'll soon learn what everybody knows... "AK don't play.... pinkies up."

AAW Heritage Championship #1 Contender Match: Davey Vega (w/ Hartenbower & John E. Bravo) vs. Frontman Jah C vs. Ace Austin vs. Hakim Zane

John E. Bravo introduces his client Davey Vega and lets everybody know how great he is, then soon makes his way to the commentary booth to kick off Tyler Volz and join the commentary team. Hakim Zane comes into the match with a purpose as he believes he lost his Heritage Championship to Myron Reed.  Frontman Jah C shows a lot of promise only Ace Austin to steal away his thunder and pin Ace Austin, making him the #1 Contender to the Heritage Championship.

Winner: Ace Austin in 11:09

John E. Bravo makes his way to the ring after the unjustice of Ace Austin taking the pin.  He refuses to leave the ring with Davey Vega & Hartenbower and holds the show hostage until officials overturn the decision.  The crowd begins to chant RUSS and out makes Russ Jones accompanied by Chuck E. Smooth.  Hartenbower takes offense to Russ Jones stepping into the ring and stares him down.  A ref comes out making this a sanctioned match.

Russ Jones (w/ Chuck E. Smooth) vs. Hartenbower (w/ John E. Bravo)

Hartenbower shows some glimpses of promise with some offense, but Russ Jones eventually takes full control of the match and destroys Hartenbower.  Russ takes a knee to the back of Hartenbower and takes the pin. 

Winner: Russ Jones in 3:15

Backstage - Kevin Kellam is backstage with Colt Cabana.  Colt isn't afraid of Larry D and his style that he wants to come with.  Colt can do any type of style he wants, from comedy, to catch, to bruiser... So if Larry wants to challenge Colt, he can come down to 55th & Cermak, have a shot of Malort and take a bruising.

AAW Women's Championship Match: Melanie Cruz vs. Allysin Kay (c)

Allysin is fresh off her win after last month's championship match against Kris Statlander.  The two women bring a lot of power and take each other to the limit.  Allysin Kay eventually brings Melanie Cruz down to the mat and begins to elbow Cruz in her head until the ref calls the match.

Winners & STILL Women's Champion: Alison Kay in 8:08

Backstage - Jake Lander & Brayden Lee are backstage with a statement that they are here to make a statement and show how great of a tag team they are and how deserving of the opportunity they are.  

Schaff vs. Jake Something

If the term hoss fight needs a picture next to its definition, then a clip of this match is required.  These two men beat the hell out of each other throwing each other against every part of the ring and guard rails.  The trash talk built through the match as both men worked to test each other with all the power they had.  Something spears Schaff, but cuts of a second spear with a knee strike.  Schaff with the upset pin over Jake Something!  When going to share respect, Jake Something with a middle finger to Schaff.

Winner: Schaff in 11:16

Backstage - Kevin Kellam interviews Davey Vega w/ John E. Bravo & Hartenbower.  Davey Vega talks about how much he misses the Heritage Championship, only for Fitchett to enter to talk to his Tag partner.  Davey Vega calls out Fitchett for not taking his calls and showing up late, asking him if he's even on the card.  Fitchett smirks off his old tag partner who may have lost his ways and walks off.

Backstage - Kevin Kellam introduces Larry D talks about his return to AAW and how the writing is on the wall and that Larry D is going to ruin Colt Cabana's homecoming.

AAW Tag Team Championship Match: Brayden Lee & Jake Lander vs. inFAMy (Joeasa & Robin Steele) (c)

Jake Lander and Brayden Lee surprisingly put a challenge to inFAMy and brought inFamy to the edge and almost had the championship in their grasps.  Infamy takes the pin and retains the Tag Team championship!

Winners and STILL champions: inFAMy in 11:33

Backstage - Fred Yehi praises Eddie Kingston, but lets him know that that in the past two year things have changed.  Fred Yehi controls the narrative, but tonight the narrative is WAR.

Larry D vs. Colt Cabana

Larry and Colt put together a classic technical and powerful match with shades of old school Cabana.  Definitely a fun back and forth match.  Cabana with a moonsault to Larry D for the pin.

Winner: Colt Cabana in 9:44

Backstage - Ren Jones has a bit of a chip on his shoulder for not being on the main show.  Next time the Swag Champ is going to show them how he is.

Pick Your Partner Tag Match

Out first is Fred Yehi and his mystery partner.  The music hits and out comes the returning Stallion Rogers as the crowd goes crazy! (fka Curt Stallion)

The next up is Eddie's mystery partner, Mat Fitchett!  Eddie Kingston returns to the ring afterwards to a wave of streamers for his return home to AAW!  

Fred Yehi & Stallion Rogers vs. Eddie Kingston & Mat Fitchett

It is hard to summarize the greatness and hard hitting of this match, but one thing I can say is that this match showed the singles greatness of Mat Fitchett at a level that he hasn't shown in AAW before.  The fight brawled throughout the bar in 115 Bourbon Street.  It was an absolute war as Fred Yehi promised.  Stallion & Fitchett slapped the life out of each other's chest and neck, only for Yehi & Kingston to follow ringside.  Fitchett hits Stallion with a Knee strike & brainbuster to take the pin on Stallion.  Absolutely the match of the night.

Winners: Eddie Kingston & Mat Fitchett in 17:34

Post match, Eddie gets on the mic and puts on his motivational speaking cap as he calls out how great the roster is.  Stallion shakes Fitchett with respect as they leave.  Kingston puts over how great Fitchett is and has the crowd leave home happy.
