It’s Night 2 of the 2021 Scenic City Invitational Tournament! Last night was a a buffet of main event caliber matches. Tonight we roll through the remaining rounds to crown an overall winner. Plus, some unannounced surprise matchups to fill out the rest of the card. Scott Hensley is your announcer. Dylan Hales and Johnny Mosely are your commentary team. Let’s goooooo!

Match 1: Adam Priest vs Kevin Ku

AHHHHHHHHH! This is a hell of surprise to kick off Night 2! Priest comes in hard but Ku catches him out of the air and starts throwing some knees and gutwrench suplexes. They take. It to the apron where Priest drops Ku on the edge and gets some breathing room. Priest focused on the back with knees and kicks. Ku tries to get free but Priest just blasts him back to the mat with a lariat. Priest with a superplex. Ku with a fisherman’s suplex and an Olympic slam variation as he fires up. Priest catches with a butterfly suplex into a backbreaker. Back and forth reversals, Adam Priest slips out and hits a lariat to the back of the head with his surgically repaired arm. Ku is KO’d and down for the three. Priest is such a little S***. Dude can GO but he’s constantly having to take shortcuts to get wins. Ku is always great to see bringing the violence. Good opener!

Winner: Adam Priest

Match 2: “The Suplex Assassin” Alex Kane vs “That Dude” Jon Davis (SCI 2nd Round Match)

Davis shrugs off the first couple of lockup’s before Kane drags him to the match and grinds his midsection. Davis pulls Kane with a disrespectful slap to the back of the head. Trading forearms until Davis blasts an enziguri. Kane recovering on the floor and Davis tosses him to the apron. That Dude is chopping Kane up before he gets caught, kicked and apron splashed. Kane hits a suplex but Davis blasts a knee, spinebuster and shining wizard in a flurry of violence. Kane trying to come back, walks into a uranage backbreaker and STO for two. Davis bringing the pace of the match down to his methodical pace, punishing Kane with stiff kicks. Kane hits an Olympic slam out of nowhere. He hits the Mark of Kane! Davis kicks out at one! “THAT DUDE” chants the audience as Davis fires up. He blasts the same lariat that put down Logan Creed but Kane’s out at two. Davis is winding up for a knockout punch, Kane grabs the leg and hits the Mark of Kane back suplex for the win! Jon Davis may be THAT dude but Kane is slowly becoming THE guy. Davis made Kane work for this one, driving him forward and eating his biggest shots like candy. Good stuff that makes Kane a favorite to take it all in the finals. Davis is staggering as Kane offers his hand in respect. David says “You want my hand? Win this tournament!” and leaves Kane hanging. Lot of fun this matchup.

Winner: Alex Kane

Match 3: AC Mack vs Jeremy Wyatt (SCI 2nd Round Match)

Mack is limping noticeably after his encounter with Big Beef yesterday. He starts his  own introduction and Wyatt ambushes him while he’s on the mic. Mack is shook and Wyatt swarms at the bell. Mack tries to leapfrog out of danger and it’s CLEAR he’s hurting. Flying clothesline sends Wyatt running for cover. Mack sends him back in just to clothesline him back out. Wyatt slingshots back into the ring with a rollup into a deep half crab on the bad knee. Wyatt stays on top of Mack, trying for the pin several times and soaking in the boos of the crowd. Mack pushes off of a neckbreak and dodges a corner spear. Mack with a leg lariat but it’s killing him to do it. STO, two count! Mack looks unsure as he hits a corner leg lariat but doesn’t come away with the three. He tries the Mack 10, Wyatt flips it into a pin, Mack rolls up and hits it! His knee is too much and he can’t make the pin. Wyatt takes Mack up to the top….super plex! Kick out! Wyatt tries a backslide into a piledriver, Mack slides out of danger and hooks up the legs to get the pin! Loved the story we told here. Wyatt makes a point to tell the camera that his shoulder was up as Mack limps to the back to prepare for the Finals…and with Alex Kane waiting for him, it’s sure to be trouble.

Winner: AC Mack

Match 4: “The ACEGAWD” Arik Royal vs “The Wrestling Genius” (SCI 2nd Round Match)

These two had a classic in Tampa that Royal came out on top for. I will never not pop for the Acegawd’s entrance. He is hyped up to take down the Wrestling Genius again, this time with higher stakes in play. Royal and Makabe getting right into each other’s faces in the lockup. Grappling in the standup, Makabe gets the back bout gets run into the corner. Royal wants to hit Kobe early, Makabe avoids and wants the fastball punch but Royal is ready for that too. Royal sent over the top, Makabe dropkicks him down, jumping arm drag off the apron. Makabe starts to outstrike Royal but gets pushed off and hits the sliding tackle. Makabe tries a rollup but we’re switching the position around the ring….Arik breaks it and hits a flying knee for two. Royal gets a body scissors but Makabe shows how dangerous he is on the ground by picking the ankle with his knees. Royal stands it up, tries a powerbomb but Makabe drags it down into a STF. Royal with a spinning toe hold into a figure four. Makabe is clearly bleeding from the back of his head, his white jersey slowly turning red. Makabe up and over, hits the fastball punch and german! Royal out at two! Makabe wants the cattle mutilation but Royal pulls him up into a lariat. The ACEGAWD’s Curse turns Makabe inside out but only gets a two.  Royal with a series of uppercuts. He calls for the Kobe off the second but Makabe hits an un(ace)godly chop block that takes him off the turnbuckle. Makabe pulls down the knee pad and blasts Royal in the face. He drops another knee to the leg. He puts his head in place and flips up over into the Makabe Lock and Royal is forced to tap immediately. That was fantastic. REALLY liked the second chapter of this feud. Both guys clearly knew each other and were ready for everything. The rubber match is going to burn the house down.

Winner: Daniel Makabe

Match 5: Jaden Newman vs Daniel Garcia

Garcia has a shot at the IWTV title tomorrow night. Newman is coming off of one of the most emotional wins of his career….but he did take a hell of a beating last night. Garcia and Newman go graps for graps in the early moments, Garcia is confident but Newman is countering with skill. Garcia isn’t taking him too serious and Jaden makes him pay with a jackknife pin attempt and ankle lock that sends Red Death to the ropes. Garcia snaps the legs of Newman, working the leg and back. Picking up speed with a shoulder block and cranks at the neck. Chop fight in the corners Garcia with a snap suplex for two. Jaden showing that same determination as last night, standing up and coming forward after Garcia is landing some huge kicks. Garcia caught running with a powerslam, Jaden grabs a cravat and throwing knees. Jaden misses a dropkick in the corner, Garcia throws him in to the buckles, falcon arrow into a rear naked choke. Garcia with a choke on the top buckle but Jaden tosses him and comes out with a neckbreaker for two. He tries the same modified STF that put Ison away but Garcia slips it. Jaden with a kick to the back of the head, straight jacket powerbomb, kick out! Garcia with a standing neck crank into a german. Jaden jumps out of a DDT….applies the hangman’s clutch but it’s loose. Garcia struggles to the ropes. Jaden comes running, Garcia with a sling blade into another rear naked choke. Jaden doesn’t tap. Garcia with a flurry of strikes, gets the arms and falls back into the Garcia Lock. Newman holds on until Garcia starts cranking it and Newman passes out from the pain. This was a clinic of wrestling, counter wrestling and sheer determination. Garcia was an absolute beast here but the gutsy Newman refused to say die. Great back and forth action. Super enjoyable.

Winner: Daniel Garcia

Match 6: “Poisoned Youth” Robert Martyr vs “Braindead” Kevin Ryan vs Bobby Flaco vs “The Mat Scientist” Damyan Tangra vs Ashton Starr vs Orion Bishop (Scenic City Scramble)

Martyr won the Action Futures Showcase Tournament earlier in the day to earn his place in this scramble. It’s five on one against Bishop in the early going. He fares well at first but the numbers game catches up and Kevin Ryan sacrifices himself to send Bishop to the floor. Flaco wants to keep it fun but Martyr is all business and drops Bobby on his damn head. Ashton in to face down with the an that beat him in ACTION previously. Ashton with a tilt a whirl backbreaker that sends Martyr out. Tangra cleaning house as Orion wakes up and tries to kill Kevin Ryan. Ryan rana’s him into the post and hits a springboard dropkick to Tangra. Ryan dives out to everyone and picks Ashton for the kill shot spanish fly. Kick out! Martyr with a big german bridge for two. Bishop in and Martyr shows no fear. He eats a lariat anyways. Ashton with a scissor kick to Bishop but Orion’s out at ONE. Big spear from Bishop but Martyr cuts off his celebration. Tangra and Ryan throwing hands as Bobby comes off the top. X factor to Ryan. Roll through to a cutter on Tangra! Bobby’s here with a dive to the outside. HEYYYYYYY! Bobby tries another cutter but Tangra uppercuts him out of the air and spikes his head into the mat for the three. Hell yeah. This was all go go go, everyone got their time to shine and show off. Great energy and good cap to the first half of Night 2.

Winner: Damyan Tangra

ACTION CEO Matt Griffin is out to announce that, by winning the Scramble, Damyan Tangra is officially the first entrant into the 2022 edition of the Scenic City Invitational!

(Intermission)

Match 7: “The Heathen” Kruel vs Tank (w/ The Reverend) (No Holds Barred)

The ring is full of doors, chairs and barbed wire. I ddon’t think this arena is ready what these two are going to do here. Kruel (clearly, Logan Creed in a mask) plows Tank into a door and blasts him with a chair. Kruel invites Tank to hit him with a door, which he walks through. Tank stuns him and we get a skewers spot. Kruel is mad now and Tank can’t believe his opponent is walking through is. Kruel with skewers to the back of the head. AHHHHH. Trading shots and skewers are flying everywhere. Kruel whipped through a door. Tank has a gusset plate and chops it into Kruel’s chest. Kruel grabs it and returns fire. Trading shots, Tank with a back suplex. Choke breaker! Kruel out at two! Tank setting up some chairs with a barbed wire board. Tank wants to bring Kruel over but he gets thrown into his own structure. Kruel to the top and tumbleweeds down, crushing Tank for the three. The Reverend and Tank are in shock at the monster in Kruel, as they bow to him in defeat. This was a car crash. Obviously, your mileage may vary on how you react to this type of match. I think it was the right level of violence considering the people involved but also didn’t go TOO over the top, considering the audience. I for one, enjoyed it. :D

Winner: Kruel

Match 8: Team Merc (Graham Bell, Big Beef, Eli Knight & Hoodfoot) vs Brett Ison, Cabana Man Dan, Ron Bass Jr & 1 Called Manders

Wooooowwwww, what an 8-man tag! The captains square off and this immediate breaks into a huge brawl. The ref tries to stop it but he gets throw to the buckles. This is just chaos. Everyone to the outside, Hoodfoot with a suicide dive. Manders blasts him with an errant piece of door from the last match. Knight with a plancha of his own. Bell to the top but CMD superplexes him to everyone on the floor. We finally get some action in the ring, Beef and CMD go to war with headbutts. CMD with the Surf’s up! Bell in with chops and stomps the bare feet of Dan. Manders clears Bell and catches Knight in a top rope cross body. The ref is still DOA as Knight starts firing back with chops and hits a top rope Frankensteiner. Ison with a spinning backfist drops Eli as Hoodfoot makes his way to trade big shots with the Pitbull. Bass is in to eat a superkick from Knight but a huge black hole slam crushes the Action Futures finalist. Back to Merc and Pitbull, trading heavy shots. Bell dropsIson with an enziguri but Bass is back to hit a pounce. Beef in to start clubbing on the big Bass. Big lariat drops Ron. Manders in to get a huge from his former Corned Beef tag partner. Beef and Manders immediately go to war, the cowboy laid out with a body block and powerbomb. We have a new ref as CMD is in to get smashed by Beef. Ison slides in with a spinning backfist that crumbles Big Beef for the three count. Awesome chaos here. All energy that just get the crowd revved on the upswing.

Winners: Team Ison

Match 9: “The King’s Road Slayer” Derek Neal vs “The Big Bad Kaiju” O’Shay Edwards

HUUUUUUUGE pop when Edwards’ music hit, making his return home from ROH. Now this is a surprise for a crowd that HAAAAAAATES Derek Neal. They circle and Neal immediately rakes the eyes. The New South champ is raining blows on the outside and leaves him laying while he tries to take the count out. Edwards getting stomped as he makes it back but stuns Neal and hits a huge delay vertical suplex. Derek getting dropped with punches. Edwards wants the Kaiju driver but Neal slips out, stops Edwards and starts stomping him out. Neal with a rollup attempt, Edwards stands up into a lariat and Neal is in firm control, to the crowd’s dismay. They fire as as Edwards hits an Oklahoma Stampede and a trio of corner clotheslines. Tries the Kaiju Driver again but Neal pushes off into a back suplex. Forearm to the back of the head and Neal with a Fisherman’s suplex! Edwards fights back in, Neal with a backfist, knee to the mouth and a senton but the Kaiju won’t stay down. Neal with an up and over, Edwards catches him on the shoulder and hits the Kaiju driver. Neal is limp, Edwards hook the legs and that’s the match. Good win here for the hometown hero. The crowd clearly loves to see Derek Neal lose, who was breaking their hearts by staying in control for much of this hoss fight.

Winner: O’Shay Edwards

Main Event: “The Suplex Assassin” Alex Kane vs “The Mack of All Trades” AC Mack vs “The Wrestling Genius” Daniel Makabe vs “Red Death” Daniel Garcia (4-way Elimination Match SCI Tournament Finals)

Here we go! It’s a 4-way dance tonight. AC Mack is struggling to the ring but he’s here to try to take the prize that was denied him previously. Mack tells the ref he can continue and that he won’t quit because the winner of the 2021 SCI Tournament is STANDING. IN. HIS. RING. We’ll see how this goes. Alex Kane is READY for this, coming through the first two rounds seemingly unscathed. Garcia is also looking determined but seems to be nursing his ankle on the entrance. Daniel Makabe is here to defend his previous tournament win, currently cleaned up from his blood bath he took against Arik Royal….but still wearing the stained jersey to show the battle scars.

All four are facing off in the center before going to their corner. This is a 4 corner format so only 2 men in at a time, lucha rules if someone rolls out. Kane and Garcia kick it off, working graps in the scramble. Garcia trying to work to that Garcia Lock but Kane is using his power to break away and slam Red Death down. Garcia testing with chops but Kane blocks and drops him with a Saito. Makabe in for Kane to control, working to another suplex that the Wrestling Genius is trying hard to avoid. Kane pushed off of the german and rebounds to a spear. Makabe rolls out and Garcia jumps down to force Mack into the fray. Mack is holding onto a hammerlock but Kane powers him down and goes for that leg. Even Garcia takes a shot at the target from his corner. Makabe in when Mack rolls out. Garcia tries a sneaky rollup on Kane. When that doesn’t work, he slaps on a sleeper. Kane targets Makabe, who comes in but an errant fist drops Garcia and he may have had his bell rung here. Garcia rolls out, leaving Makabe to take on Mack,. He throws on the  cattle mutilation. Kane and Garcia roll in to join the submission party.  Kane slaps an ankle lock on AC, Garcia back in to punch out Kane and break the hold (probably because he perceived Mack to be an easier opponent as the match continues on. Everyone starts working to get the clearly dominant Kane out of this match. Alex hits the Mark of Kane to Garcia. Makabe drags him down into the cattle mutilation. Kane to the ropes. Makabe with a top rope knee drop to the back of the head and Alex Kane is out cold for the three.

Alex Kane is eliminated by Daniel Makabe

Garcia comes in hot, Makabe drags him down into the same armlock pin that he beat Adam Priest with. Garcia fighting back, Makabe rolls out. Mack in with a sling blade. Garcia picks his leg out and sinks in a DEEP sharpshooter. Mack gets the rope but he looks half dead doing it. Makabe and Garcia head to head (yes, give me this match one on one somewhere) and shoving each other. Trading uppercuts, chops and forearms while Mack comes back to life. Garcia sending Makabe back with boots and huge shots. Makabe goes to the body and hits the fastball punch. AC Mack snipes Garcia while he’s stunned lands the Mack-10 to get the three!

Daniel Garcia is eliminated by AC Mack

We’re down to a rematch of the 2019 SCI Finals. Will Makabe defend and become the first two-time winner or will Mack win the prize he felt was denied him last go round?  Mack opens fire with a backhand slap. He tries a flying knees but Makabe catches him. Mack dragged to the top, Makabe with a top rope rana! Two count! Mack with a shot to the forehead and a DDT for two. He wraps up the legs of Makabe and tries to bring this match to even footing. Makabe shows his superior technical skills again and gets his hands on AC’s ankles through the hold. Trading slams and uppercuts as they rise to their feet. AC tries the Mack-10, Makabe turns it into a triangle hold. Trading in fast pin attempts, rising to their feet, AC hits the Mack-10! He wants to put an exclamation mark on this and make SURE Makabe is done. AC Mack drags Makabe back up to hit the Mack-10 a second time for the emphatic win! This was awesome. Great story and drama all the way through. Super enjoyable and the right person won tonight.

Tournament Winner: AC Mack

Matt Griffin brings in the SCI Tournament trophy which Daniel Makabe gives over gladly. Big “You Deserve It” from the crowd. Mack on the mic “I said I would win it all or burn it down. So I guess you can keep your building”. He proclaims himself the gatekeeper of the South and puts everyone on notice. He has the championship that’s eluded him for years. But now he has new goals. Tomorrow is the IWTV 100 show in New Jersey…and AC Mack isn’t invited? OH HELL NO. Mack wants a piece of Wheeler Yuta. Mack points out that he pinned Garcia tonight and should be the Number One Contender for the IWTV Championship. Mack’s good for now…..but he calls his shot against the winner of tomorrow’s contest.

And that’s it for the Scene City Invitational! Overall, this was a great two days of wrestling action out of Chattanooga. Like last night, everyone was here to play. This tournament showed who the biggest names in the Southeast are, ready to explode into the other regions if they haven’t started making the trip already. Great drama in the main after a pair of wild post-intermission contests. AC Mack has his latest prize but his sights are set higher. Let’s see when this goes. Until then!
