SUPER JR. TAG LEAGUE BEGINS - 8/7 NEW JAPAN RESULTS FROM TOKYO

8/7/21 Results for New Japan's Summer Struggle 2021, Super Jr. Tag League begins -  Korakuen Hall, Tokyo Japan:

Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Togi Makabe and Toru Yano vs. Jado, Yujiro Takahashi and Chase Owens.  Chase Owens comes to the ring paying tribute to Bobby Eaton with his name written on his wrist tape.   Bullet Club attacks at the bell.    Everyone is fighting around the ring.    Yano hits a low blow on Jado and rolls him up for a pin.   Owens tells Yano that he will get him to say “I Quit”.    Owens makes an “X” with his fingers, referring to the Midnight Express.

Tomoaki Honma, Tomohiro Ishii, Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI vs. Shingo Takagi, BUSHI, SANADA and Tetsuya Naito.  The IWGP World Heavyweight Championship looks to be repaired after EVIL hit Takagi with it last week.  LIJ attacked before the bell.  CHAOS fought back hard.   YOSHI-HASHI hurts his shoulder on the guardrail.   LIJ targets that injury.    Wild match.  All men are in the ring.   SANADA hits Honma with a TKO.   SANADA traps Honma in Skull End.  Honma taps out.  Naito attacked Goto after the match.  Both teams had words after the match.   They will meet for the NEVER Openweight 6-man Tag Team  Championship next week.

SUPER Jr. Tag League 2021:  Tiger Mask and Robbie Eagles vs. Dick Togo and Gedo.  Bullet Club attacks during ring introductions.    Togo and Gedo looked really good as a team.   They overwhelmed their opponents with heel tactics early on.   Togo hit an Oklahoma Roll pin attempt, then reversed into a cross face.    Eagles trapped Gedo in a Ron Miller Special and gets the submission win.

SUPER Jr. Tag League 2021: Master Wato and Ryusuke Taguchi vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru and El Desperado.  Suzuki-Gun worked over the leg of Taguchi.  They kept Wato on the apron.   When Wato tagged in, he attacked with aggression.   He and Desperado threw some stiff shots.   This the best I have seen Wato perform.   Just as I write this Wato hits a tope con hilo on Desperado and Wato takes a bad bump on the floor.  There was an audible “splat” when his body hit the floor.  Ouch.  Kanemaru rolled up Taguchi in the ring for a pinfall win.  Wato looked to be fine after the match, but it did look like a wicked bump.

SUPER Jr. Tag League 2021: SHO and YOH vs. El Phantasmo and Taiji Ishimori.  Bullet Club controlled the early moments of the match working on YOH.   SHO makes the hot tag and tries for a cross arm breaker on Ishimori.   They both tag out and ELP and YOH hammer each other with elbows.    All four men in the ring.    Ishimori caught YOH in the Bone Lock.  Ishimori switched to a Yes Lock.  Ishimori hit a Bloody Cross on YOH.  Ishimori pins YOH.

After the match, El Phantasmo took the mic and he criticized Roppongi 3K for being an embarrassment.    He told SHO that you want to be an MMA fighter but you suck.   He told YOH you want to be a fashion musician creator but you suck even more.    ELP said to them you need to take a hard look at our tag team division and he tells them to quit New Japan. 

In the interview area, El Phantasmo said that they will win the tournament and be undefeated.   They won’t be wrestling themselves at the end of this.  They will set their sights on whoever holds the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship.

SHO/YOH - 0 points
