Beyond Wrestling “Dong Work for Yuta”

8/5/21 - Worcester, MA

Streaming live on IWTV.live

The show title is a reference to a Frank Zappa song but it could be a nod to what IWTV Champion Wheeler Yuta could be in store for tonight in the violent main event encounter. This card has definitely been SUBJECT TO CHANGE this week as a few folks have had to pull off the card at the 11th hour. I’m sure Beyond owner Denver Colorado (the man not the place) is in a frantic mood at the amount of flexibility he’s had to have for tonight….but I’ve found over the years that these are the types of shows where the locker room really steps up and shows out. Let’s see how this plays out on this rainy night in Worcester. A svelte and streamlined Rich Palladino is your announcer. The Voice of Beyond Wrestling, Paul Crockett and “allegedly legitimate former WWF Hall of Famer” Sidney Bakabella are your commentary team. The Worcester crowd is on fire tonight and we’re liiiiiiiiive for the last stop on our way to Americanrana ‘21!

Match 1: “The Dirty Daddy” Chris Dickinson vs “The Professional” Rhett Titus

Chris Dickinson returns home a hero, sporting his ROH Tag Team title tonight.  Titus offers that honorable handshake, which Dickinson mocks for having lots of tanner….but show the respect before dragging Titus to the mat. Titus keeps up with the ground game of the dirty daddy, wrapping up Dickinson’s legs and forcing him to the corner after several sequences. Dickinson with a butterfly suplex float over into a pin into an armbar attempt sends Titus to the rope break. Dickinson trying to muscle the german into existence but Titus finding ways to work the head and arm. Dickinson effortlessly slides into a STF but Titus just as quickly breaks the rope. Dickinson with a leapfrog and gets caught in a powerslam. Both guys weary but trading big shots in the center. Dickinson dropped into a two count, Titus transitions to the choke but Dickinson gets the rope. The crowd fires Dickinson back up who beats up Titus, throws him to the mat and hits a big lariat for two. Big delay vertical suplex for two! Dickinson tries a bomb off the top but Titus with a kick off the top and lariat at ringside. Titus with a shot off the top, two count. Dickinson catches Titus in a fireman’s carry and lands an unholy DVD but Titus kicks out! Dickinson with a loud chest kick that sounded like he had on a kick pad (Narrator: he didn’t have a kick pad. He just hit Titus very hard). Titus with a yakuza kick. Dragon screw reversal on the follow up! Titus reverses with a popup powerbomb! Dickinson picks the legs again and snags a STF! Rope break! Dickinson tries a gory bomb but Titus slips from his grasp. He DOESN’T escape the Pazuzu bomb though and a Titus gets stacked up for the three count!

Winner: Chris Dickinson

Wheeler Yuta and his goon patrol hit the ring to attack Chris Dickinson. SLADE & Matt Makowski make the save for the Filthy Father, who is laid out in the center of the ring. This match was great. Solid technical work from Titus and Dickinson landed some ungodly shots in the closing minutes. He certainly seems on a path to a showdown with the IWTV champ.

Match 2: “Megasus” Megan Bayne vs Masha Slamovich

THIS CROWD IS ON FIRE FOR MASHA. Masha showing fire early but Bayne lays in some deep knees. Masha firing back with strikes and kicks. Comes off the top but Bayne clubs her out of the air. Big suplex from Megasus and she takes in the boooooooooos. Double underhook suplex throws Masha across the ring. Masha tries a tilt a whirl DDT but Bayne is too strong and blasts her with a powerslam. Masha catches Bayne in the face, mule kick up while she recovers! Big german! Two count! Masha comes running, caught in a powerslam. Senton from Bayne, kick out! Masha with a shogun dropkick off the top. Two count! Bayne with a big boot! Bayne picks up Masha for the Bow Down swinging uranage. Count it out.

Winner: Megan Bayn

Masha, true to form, attacks Bayne post match but Bayne endures and lays out Slamovich with a tombstone and stands tall. This ruled. This could have easily been a fantastic WWR+ main event but I’m happy to have seen Bayne and Masha get the platform on Beyond tonight. Bayne is such a force and a presence and is going to be a stiff test for Trish Adora on 8/22 at WWR+. Masha is SO DAMN OVER with this crowd.

Match 3: Dan Barry vs “The Air Pod God” Richard Holliday

Dan Barry has a date with his former Team Tremendous partner Dutch at Americanrana but tonight, he gets to fight one of Yuta’s goons. Holliday reeeeeally wants to taunt and pose but Dan keeps out wrestling him for near falls and waving to the crowd. Holliday has few answers for Dan Barry’s technical prowess. That comes to a screeching halt with an uppercut as Dan tries a suicide dive. Battle on the apron, Holliday with a lariat to the floor. Dan trying to fight his way out but Holliday with a back elbow for two. Dan trying some quick roll ups. Holliday catches him running and flapjacks him. Dan caught off the top into a torture rack TKO. Kick out! Holliday tries a dragon sleeper, Dan tosses him out. Dropkick to the corner. Air raid crash! Dan’s got this in the bag but Dutch’s cohort in The Righteous, VIta Vonstarr hits the ring. Holliday almost has the rollup but Dan’s ready for it. Vonstarr crotches Dan on the top, setting him up for the market crash from Holliday for the win.

Winner: Richard Holliday

Dan Barry was all business tonight and frustrated Holliday tonight. But of course, he’s in the line of sight of that ROH swamp cult so he was doomed. Vonstarr attacks Dan Barry after the bell and he clearly is going to have trouble with more than Dutch at Americanrana.

Match 4: Shook Crew (Bryce Donovan & Bobby Orlando w/ Bobby Jr) vs Kings of the District (Eel O’Neal & Jordan Blade)

Orlando pulls away from his handshake. Mistake. Blade draaaaaaags him for that. Eel in on Donovan. High angle arm drags, a 61Knee, a slingshot splash for two. Good fire, good energy. Orlando throws in Bobby Jr and O’Neal throwing the goat into the crowd is enough distraction for Donovan. The Shook Crew doubles up on Eel. He tries coming back but Donovan introduces his face to the apron. “Who’s a Goat F***er now?!?!” Scream Orlando. “You are!” Retorts the crowd. Blade firing up in the corner as Eel takes a dropkick in the tree of woe. Eel with a twisting stunner reversal! Eel avoids the Shook Crew to get the tag! Blade in to destroy Orlando with slams. Fisherman’s suplex! Twoooo! Donovan cuts her off but Eel has a well timed uppercut for his face. Donovan with a backstabber! Blade back in! Shook Crew with a Doomsday Device! Blade kicks out! Blade sends them both out to the floor. Eel somersaults out to the Shook Crew. Orlando sent back in, trapped in an ankle lock. Donovan uses Eel as a weapon to break the hold. Kings of the District with a running knee/elbow combo called Crush Crush Crush to Donovan. KotD with a double submission but they work out. Ref distracted! Bobby with a shoe to the head of Blade but the ref is too distracted to make the count! Donovan is held back at ringside as Blade wraps up the ankle of Orlando one more time to get the tap out!

Winners: Kings of the District

I LOVE KINGS OF THE DISTRICT HARD STOP. They have such a great energy that brings the crowd and match up with them. But here’s the thing, 2021 Shook Crew is awesome too. They’ve done a great job re-establishing themselves as a duo and bring their own infectious energy to the table as well. Super entertaining on test here. Cam Zagami is out to talk to the Shook Crew. He helps them to their feet and whispers in their ear and helps them to the back. Maybe Cam has finally found some VIP’s? Uh oh.

Teddy Goodz is out to find out WHO his opponent is tonight. Who is Mark Sterling’s mystery client? Sterling is out to make the long introduction….Oh no! It’s his “Whatever It Takes” stablemate VSK! Booooooooooo!

Match 5: Teddy Goodz vs VSK (w/ Smart Mark Sterling)

Teddy is a great wrestler but VSK is a big cheater…and with Sterling on the outside to run interference, there’s all sorts of despicable actions going on. Sterling uses plenty of distraction opportunities to get some shots in on his sworn rival in toys. Goodz finally gets room with a back elbow, atomic drop and lariat combo. VSK eating running elbows and a dropkick. Sterling with the distraction again but Goodz catches his real opponent with an iconoclasm…Sterling sneaks VSK’s foot to the rope to make the save. Sterling tries to use a weapon, tosses to VSK, ref catches on but VSK hits a uranage backbreaker…and then goes full Matt Cardona with the face wash. VSK tries a Rough Ryder but Goodz sends him into Sterling and hits a Rough Ryder of his own for the pin!

Winner: Teddy Goodz

Huge win for Goodz here. I really liked the story they told here. VSK played so dirty through this whole thing. A furious Mark Sterling challenges him to face his BEST client at Americanrana ‘21…..oh you guessed it: MATT CARDONA. Woo Woo Woo, you know it!

Match 6: “The Babe With the Power” Willow Nightingale vs “Not America’s Sweetheart” Davienne

Seriously, HOW IS THIS A FIRST TIME MATCH? Davienne has been on a string of great matches this year and Willow is always great to watch. This starts with pretty fast sequence of pin attempts, WIllow trying to muscle Davienne but that ain’t happening. Davienne eats a fisherman’s suplex, a vicious double chop, superkick and senton for two. Davienne clubbing her way back to the advantage. Big suplex to Willow. Side slam, she tries to go off top but Willow gets the superplex instead. WIllow firing up with clotheslines and a spinebuster. Davienne slams out and traps Nightingale in a Boston Crab. It’s deep but Willow fights to the ropes. Willow scrambles and wraps up a rear naked choke. Davienne turns it into a pin predicament to force the break. Willow tries a cannonball, Davienne dodges. Davienne tries the corner post baseball slide, Willow dodges. Willow with the cannonball and folds Davienne up with a powerbomb for the definitive pin.

Winner: Willow Nightingale

Like I said before, Davienne’s on a roll right now and Willow has been absolutely tearing through the competition since coming back from her neck injury. I could see this getting run back at WWR+ because Davienne has to be getting tired of being on the losing end of these matches, as other names are rising around her.

Match 7:  “Weapon X” Matt Makowski vs “The Dimepiece” Aaron Rourke

Rourke is dismissive of Makowski in the intros and makes a points to wraps up the technician and gives him a spanking. Makowski is FURIOUS and introduces Rourke to the mat at high velocity and works to the match ending arm breaker….making a point to stop and return that spanking to the arrogant Dimepiece. Rourke complains to the crowd but turns into a stiff chest kick. Rourke tries a gory special but Makowski slips out of it and wraps up a knee bar. Too close to the rope! Dimepiece is upset and stomping out Makowski.”This is MY ring!” Great sequence of rear naked choke into pin attempt into double stomp for Rourke. Makowski tries to box his way out of trouble but Rourke guts him. Double stomp and powerbomb for two. Makowski won’t quit and a frustrated Rourke resorts to choking him out the illegal way. Makowski throwing bombs to get space, hits a showtime kick! Big throws to Rourke! Makowski tosses Rourke up and drops him into another armbar attempt. Crowd is super split between Rourke and Makowski right now. Rourke whiffs a split leg moonsault. Makowski pops him up again for a uranage into a head & arm choke. Rourke to the ropes again! Makowski with a small package driver! Rourke kicks out! The crowd is wiiiiiiild for this! Yay Boo punches in the center. Finish sequence has Makowski pull Rourke into a german and down into the armbar deep for the quick tap out.

Winner: Matt Makowski

Shook Crew is out to console the Dimepiece, who accepts their help. Another new alliance being made tonight? UH OH. So I figured this match would be good but i didn’t expect it to be THIS LEVEL OF GOOD. The crowd absolutely took this over the top and Makowski/Rourke gave us so much back in return. A sleeper hit. Loved it to pieces (dimepieces).

Match 8: Alexander James & Logan Easton Laroux vs Pretty Proper (Lady Frost & Viktor Benjamin)

Pretty Proper is business tonight after Viktor took that massive 4:1 beat down at “Master Class”. James and Laroux swarm Benjamin early but Frost cuts that off. Pretty Proper with a Samoan drop neckbreaker combo to Laroux. James with the distraction and Laroux is beating Frost down as the bell rings. James tries a torture rack and it’s super deep. They drop Benjamin on his neck and the crowd hushes as Frost checks on him. After a moment of fear, Laroux pulls Frost out and rams her face into the apron, opening Benjamin to more pain. Side note: Benjamin and James are practically a mirror match here. Anyways, Laroux gets Benjaminin a head triangle. James hits a german and drops Benjamin on his head. Frost willing her husband on while James cranks the neck. Benjamin slugging his way out of danger but James cross chops the throat. James with a popup Black Mass but Viktor is able to crawl for the tag. Lady Frost with a saito to Laroux. Frost throws a kick and and lands bad. She rolls out as Benjamin eats a powerbomb neckbreaker from James/Laroux for the definitive pin here. Something is clearly wrong as Sidney Bakabella runs from the commentary booth to carry Lady Frost to safety, while James & Laroux celebrate over her fallen husband.

Winner: Alexander James & Logan Easton Laroux

Good story in this match as Benjamin is still selling weakness from the beat down he took last show. Frost going down for real was an unfortunate turn of events.

UPDATE:

Trish Adora is out for her open challenge. Who will answer this call? MEGAN BAYNE IS HERE! Is she going to pull double-duty and face Adora ahead of schedule???? No! One of Bayne’s handmaidens ambushes Trish. She takes off the mask….IT’S ALISHA EDWARDS!!!!

Match 9: Alisha Edwards vs “The Afropunk” Trish Adora

Edward choking Trish on the ropes, dragging her around and chopping the Afropunk up. Bayne watches from ringside as Adora reverses the position and chops up Megan’s grand plan to soften up her WWR+ opponent. Alisha with an avalanche splash and s forearms to Adora and she baits the heck out of the crowd. Trish back with a snap suplex. Alisha off the ropes but caught in a big slam. Big boot from Adora, two count! Edwards comes running into a tilt a whirl backbreaker. Alisha gets space but runs into a rear naked choke. It’s deep but she elbows her way to the ropes. Edwards with a code break off the second for two. Bayne waits impassively on the floor for her hired gun to finish the job….but Alisha eats a butterfly DDT. Alisha rolls out of the ring and grabs a kendo stick. She misses entirely and Trish rebounds to hit Lariat Tubman for the pin.

WInner: Trish Adora

Alisha is so vicious and easy to hate in a match, making her the perfect hired gun for Bayne to get heat on Adora with. Post-match, Trish grabs the kendo stick and wraps Edwards in a Cattle Mutilation. YESSSSSS, this was a good spot as Bayne scoffs at the turn of events and leaves Alisha where she’s laying. Trish Adora is READY for Megasus.

Main Event: Wheeler Yuta(c) vs SLADE (non-title no-DQ match)

SLADE meets Yuta at the entry way and proceeds to beat down the IWTV kingpin. Yuta stunned and SLADE suplexes him on the floor into a chair. Time to fill the ring with plunder. Yuta throws punches but SLADE is too hype right now. Yuta blasts him over the head with a door and the man from Riker’s Island collapses. Yuta clears the hardware and wraps up SLADE’s legs and stomps him out.  Big body slam, Yuta  hits a top rope leg drop for two. Atomic drop, enziguri, germans SLADE back for two. Yuta with a STF variation but SLADE muscles to the bottom rope and chokes Yuta out of the hold. Yuta springs back with a dropkick and lets SLADE struggles to rise up against him. Yuta takes poorly to the crowd chanting “Wheeler, you suck” and brings the weapons back in, adding a trash can to the mix. That proved costly and SLADE wraps that can around his skull. Chair shot to the spine. SLADE HAS RISEN. Exploder suplex into what remained of that door. Two count! Trading slaps and forearms as they rise from the mat. SLADE with a huge lariat and goes for a bag of tacks. The goon squad arrives to stop that. Makowski out with a chair to run them off but Yuta is taking advantage of a hurt SLADE. Chairs getting set up in the center. Yuta climbs up the chairs and looks for the Yu-Tap but SLADE picks him up for a slam as the chairs collapse from under them. YIKES. SLADE gets the bag….it’s tacks. Of course it’s tacks. You knew it was tacks. Cam Zagami’s new crew…a new Club Cam(???) is out to stop SLADE from using the tacks. They do distract him just enough as Yuta sneaks up and rolls up SLADE for the pin.

Winner: Wheeler Yuta

The problem here is….SLADE isn’t dead. It was just a roll up. Yuta realizes this and tries to escape but SLADE pulls him back in and chokeslams the IWTV into the tacks. JEEEEESUS that’s a lot of tacks stuck in yoots. Yuta is in shock and getting helped to the back as the Shook Crew reminds SLADE that he lost. SLADE doesn’t care. “THIS IS YOUR FUTURE” he yells to Zagami & co. This was exactly the kind of styles clash I hoped. SLADE starts violent. Yuta tries to keep the match in his world and realizes SLADE needs to die by the sword. Chaotic and entertaining main event as we close the show out. At least, Yuta protected his dong in all this. (You knew I had to go there once)

And that’s it for “Dong Work for Yuta”. LIke I said at the top, this show went through ITERATIONS before landing on tonight’s presentation…and managed to deliver a very entertaining show in the process. Dickinson/Titus, Bayne/Masha & Rourke/Makowski are your must watches if you NEED to cherry pick but Beyond did a great job tonight of presenting entertaining contests with plenty of storyline movement in the beats. Americanrana ‘21 is only 16 days away. This definitely set the table for a lot to come. Until then!
