GLEAT

GLEAT held a show today in Shinjuku FACE.

The full results were:

• CIMA, Koji Iwamoto and Shigehiro Irie def. Daijiro Matsui, Jun Masaoka and Kaz Hayashi
• Michiko Miyagi def. Momoka Hanazono
• Minoru Tanaka def. Soma Watanabe
• Ryuichi Kawakami def. Hayato Tamura

CIMA, Kaz Hayashi and Minoru Tanaka will face Koji Iwamoto and two mystery partners from All Japan Pro Wrestling at GLEAT’s show on September 1 in Shinjuku FACE.

Dragon Gate’s KAZMA SAKAMOTO made a surprise appearance after the third match to attack Soma Watanabe. He challenged Watanabe to a match on September 1.

After Ryuichi Kawakami defeated Hayato Tamura, he requested to form a tag team. Tamura accepted.

Not wasting any time, the new team attacked El Lindaman after the main event until T-Hawk made his return (T-Hawk suffered a broken right rib against Kawakami at GLEAT’s show on July 1 in Tokyo Dome City Hall). A match between the two teams will take place on September 1.

Once the smoke cleared, Yu Iizuka requested a singles match against Issei Onitsuka on September 1. Onitsuka accepted.

Pro Wrestling NOAH

Pro Wrestling NOAH will hold the first night of its two-day Departure event tomorrow in Korakuen Hall, though the cards for both nights have changed due to the absence of Nioh.

Nioh will miss both shows due to being in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.

The updated card for tomorrow’s show is:

New Japan Pro Wrestling

New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced Tomohiro Ishii will face Impact Wrestling’s Moose at its Resurgence show on August 14 in The Torch at L.A. Coliseum in Los Angeles, California.

Amid speculation about CM Punk signing with All Elite Wrestling, New Japan’s KENTA took to Twitter to re-affirm his desire to wrestle the straightedge superstar.

KENTA, of course, is notorious for his tongue in cheek activity on Twitter and his message is hardly indication that Punk has signed with AEW or New Japan.

DDT Pro-Wrestling

DDT Pro-Wrestling president Sanshiro Takagi appeared on a talkshow on DDT’s YouTube channel and discussed the difficulties surrounding foreign wrestlers obtaining visas.

Takagi confirmed Rick Steiner and Scott Steiner, the legendary Steiner Brothers tag team, will not be able to compete at DDT’s Wrestle Peter Pan show on August 21 in Fujitsu Stadium due to visa difficulties.

While DDT could book either Steiner brother one day, the announcement is a long-standing in-joke referring to when a fan called DDT years ago to ask if the brothers would be booked on a show in Ryogoku Kokugikan.

On a more serious note, wrestlers who already acquired a visa before the start of the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic, such as DDT’s Chris Brookes, are able to renew their visas. Obtaining news visas is currently not possible.

Thanks to Twitter users @ddtpro_eng and @metal0515 for translating parts of the show into English. The full show (in Japanese) can be watched below.

DDT has announced Dragon Gate’s Yasushi Kanda will compete at its show on October in Nagano.
