COBB ATTACKS OKADA AND MORE: NJPW SUMMER STRUGGLE IN TOKYO, JAPAN REPORT

7/27/21 Results from New Japan's Summer Struggle from Korakuen Hall, Tokyo, Japan:

In the opening video for the show, the announced the following for the next Wrestle Grand Slam Event on September 5 in the MetLife Dome in Saitama, Japan:

1 - IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship:  Robbie Eagles vs. Hiromu Takahashi

2 - IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championship - 3Way Match:  Zack Sabre, Jr. and Taichi vs. SANADA and Tetsuya Naito vs. YOSHI-HASHI and Hirooki Goto

3 - IWGP World Heavyweight Championship:  Shingo Takagi vs. EVIL

Also starting August 7, 2021 during the Summer Struggle Tour, the Super Jr. Tag League 2021 will be taking place.   There will be six teams in the Super Jr. Tag League Tournament:

1 - Robbie Eagles and Tiger Mask

2 -  Ryusuke Taguchi and Master Wato

3 - SHO and YOH

4 - El Desperado and Yoshinobu Kanemaru

5 - Taiji Ishimori and El Phantasmo

6 - Gedo and Dick Togo 

Yuji Nagata, Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Satoshi Kojima vs. Yota Tsuji, Tomoaki Honma and Togi Makabe.  Kojima pins Tsuji after a big lariat.  Solid opener.  Tsuji may have gotten his bell rung by Kojima, or he really sold the move very well.

Robbie Eagles, Tiger Mask and Yuya Uemura vs. Jado, Taiji Ishimori and El Phantasmo.  Ishimori pins Uemura with a Bloody Cross.   Uemura looked solid despite the loss.   He and Ishimori had a good battle leading to the finish.   

Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Toru Yano vs. Yujiro Takahashi, Gedo and Chase Owens.  Okada traps Gedo in the Money Clip and Gedo taps out.  After the match, Chase Owens taunted Toru Yano with his newly won KOPW Trophy.  Yano screamed at him that he wanted his Trophy back.  Okada walked to the locker room, but Jeff Cobb appeared and punched Okada in the face.  He hit him with a headbutt.  Cobb picked up Okada and rammed him into the ringpost.  He tossed Okada in the ring.   He set Okada up for a Rainmaker but spun him into a Tour of the Islands.   Cobb posed over the body of Okada.  Cobb patted Okada on the head and called him a "young boy".    It looks like the feud between Okada and Cobb will continue.

SHO, YOH, Tomohiro Ishii, YOSHI-HASHI and Hirooki Goto vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru, El Desperado, Minoru Suzuki, Zack Sabre Jr. and Taichi.  Taichi caught YOH in a Stretch Plum.  The rest of Suzuki-Gun got submission holds on the CHAOS members to keep them away from Taichi.  YOH taps out.  Dangerous Tekkers got in the face of their challengers.   Minoru Suzuki attacked Ishii and they both fought to the floor.  Taichi and ZSJ attacked Goto and YOSHI-HASHI and laid them out.   Officials and referees came to separate both teams.

BUSHI and Shingo Takagi vs. EVIL and Dick Togo.  EVIL pins BUSHI after hitting Everything is Evil.  EVIL poses in the ring after his win and taunts Takagi.   Takagi looks disgusted and takes his belt back to the locker room.
