Lastly, New Japan has announced three title matches the third night of Wrestle Grand Slam on September 5 in the MetLife Dome.

Robbie Eagles will attempt his first defense of the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship against Hiromu Takahashi.

Eagles defeated El Desperado to win the title yesterday at the first night of Wrestle Grand Slam in the Tokyo Dome, but Takahashi announced at the start of the show that he would challenge the winner.

Takahashi held the title earlier this year but was forced to vacate it in February due to a left pectoral injury. Unless he wrestles on the upcoming Summer Struggle (which is entirely possible even if he is not scheduled to compete on the first four shows), then his title match against Eagles will be his first bout since February 19.

One small footnote worth keeping in mind: on the first night of New Japan’s Road to Tokyo Dome tour on December 19, 2019, which was Takahashi’s first match in nearly 18 months due to a neck injury, Eagles surprisingly pinned Takahashi.

Taichi and Zack Sabre Jr. will attempt their first defense of the IWGP Tag Team Championships in a rare three-way tag team match against Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI as well as SANADA and Tetsuya Naito.

In the presumed main event, Shingo Takagi will attempt his second defense of the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against EVIL.

Dragon Gate

Dragon Gate has announced Masato Yoshino will team with Naruki Doi against BxB Hulk and Eita in his retirement match at the second night of the Kobe Pro-Wrestling Festival on August 1 in Kobe World Kinen Hall.

Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling Explosion

Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling Explosion has announced it will hold an eight-woman deathmatch tournament through the rest of 2021.

Two first round matches will take place on September 12 and the remaining two first round matches will take place on October 24.

The semi-finals will take place on November 21 and the final will take place on December 19.

Four wrestlers have been confirmed for the tournament so far: Akane Fujita, An Chamu, Risa Sera and Suzu Suzuki.

In May, FMW-E founder Atsushi Onita appointed Suzuki as his successor.
